Hector Bellerin is a one in a million type of footballer. If we had more footballers like him unafraid of speaking their minds and actually had respect as human being first and foremost I think football would be a better game
@DrVaSeech3 жыл бұрын
Honest interview. I always had a soft spot for Hector Bellerin. People often forget he's been one of our better RBs in the Arsenal's Emirates Era and has acquired good offensive stats to even rival Sagna who was an Arsenal stalwart. Some might say he's not exactly a High-Performance guest of the quintessential aspect w.r.t individual and team accolades but I believe he contributes deep insight into an emerging school of thought in which offers resonance and relatability with a millennial audience. Yes, High Performance deals with results and awards of prestige but I believe High Performance is maximising your potential - physically, mentally, socially, spiritually and emotionally. Seems like a genuine and emotionally intelligent guy. I'm sure he facilitates a lot of harmony and cohesion in a dressing room. I hope he can still propel himself to the next level we thought he could've achieved when he initially joined the team and I still believe he has the time to prove one or two doubters wrong...with or without Arsenal. I think you have it in you to be a very good player still. I've seen enough good performances to convince me of that. Nice hearing from you, Hector. One of your fans from Trinidad and Tobago. All the best bro! Hopefully we cross paths one day. Again, thanks Jake & Damian for being good hosts, conversationalists and for the neutral Arsenal content! One of y’all biggest fans from Trini 🇹🇹

I really enjoy listening to Hector. I’m going to be a father in a few months and since I found that out I’ve been listening to these podcasts to not only better myself, but to pick up some cultural attributes I can pass onto my son. The piece about a child coming off the pitch after a game and the first question to ask is “did you enjoy that?” rather than “did you win?” is something that will stick with me for years to come. I often battle with the idea in my head that I don’t want to be a pushy parent but at the same time I want my son to have desire and drive to be better and I think that is the lesson I’ve taken from this podcast… Make winning a product of enjoying something first… Rather defining the enjoyment coming from only winning. Completely changed my outlook

Hector Bellerin is really impressive. To be doing what he does in addition to playing football is admirable. And I'm an Arsenal supporter, so that makes him even more amazing haha!

Interesting episode. In the interest of total honesty (that many people say is important, including Hector himself as his 1st rule), some of this will annoy some people. I'm not saying it to annoy, but the alternative is for people to not air counter views, and we all live in a world where we think everyone agrees with each other, which isn't the case. What I really like about Hector is his "I don't care" honesty. The fact that he does things "his" way, unbothered what others think, is great. We have too many sheep being influenced by all sorts of rubbish. So for him to be like he is impresses me. Now for the bad bit. IMHO Hector is a decent player, but not top player. You've had absolute top players on this pod. Rio, Frank, van persie etc.. And genuine great olympians. They all want one thing - to win. End of. Happyness is secondary. That's where Hector sounds a bit odd. He said as long as the team are happy, they will do well. Tell that to the players in the great teams of the past (and present). Happyness is a nice side effect. But if they're main goal was to be happy, they wouldn't win much. Stephen Hendry was probably the most extreme example, admitting his marriage struggled because of his single mindedness. That's what the very best do. And that's why they are true high performers..... 👍

People forget that football is ultimately a game, it must be ENJOYED for you to perform well. I used to be obsessed with the game SO BADLY all throughout high school, it was all I thought about and I was constantly training and always playing the sport. Yet, I was absolute garbage when you threw me in a competitive environment because I was so obsessed with my performance, criticizing every single minuscule detail. Now I don't get as much time to play the sport as an adult, I'm nowhere near as technical as I used to be, yet I perform on a far better level with so much more composure as now I actually have fun when I play. Being obsessed with the sport isn't the answer to performing well. You need time away from the sport to be able to enjoy it otherwise you begin to dislike your own profession and your own interests become your demise.

I wonder if there's a link between Bellerin's veganism and his dip in form. I know people who felt an incredible boost at first, then a slow decline in energy and drive. Nothing against veganism, it just may not be conducive to a successful long term career as a professional athlete.
@sauravthegreatestpot3 жыл бұрын
Bellerin was always an average player - his crossing and dribbling were always inconsistent, he could give the ball away cheaply always and while defending his positioning was never great but his pace got him out of trouble. His pace has diminished with injuries and the other aspects of his game haven't improved. Not necessarily sure it is to do with veganism; Djokovic for example has been plant based for a decade almost and he's still winning grand slams at 34.
@TheBanguras3 жыл бұрын
Bellerin has been good this season.
@IvarTheBoneless1013 жыл бұрын
I think the problem with veganism is associating it with improved performance. What’s to say Djokovic would not be even better with a different diet? Should follow the science of different diets effect on performance in regulated trials over anecdotal feelings of athletes that are not quantifiable. With that in mind, there’s plenty of negatives and not many positives, but it can be done without major impact on performance as long certain nutrients are supplemented.

Problem with Arsenal fans is that they give praise to players who has not been good enough like Saka, Partey, Gabriel, Auba etc. They playing on crucial positions and dont have delivered consistent therefore Arsenal ending up in 8th place. Ps. Yeah I know Saka is young but you cant use that as an excuse if you want to be in top 4. You are Arsenal FC.

@@winnersclub6836 Arsenal had the 3rd best defence in the whole prem. Bellerin played more in that back four than any other defender I think. Arsenal problem espicially in the start of the season was the offensive payers. Pepe, Willock, Auba(!), Laca, Willian etc who did NOT deliver. If Bellerin and Xhaka leaves the club who will you Arsenal fans scapegoat when you still finnish 8th place?
