I was so upset we passed on Buium. Then I did a bit more research 100% take it back my family are Oiler fans this dude is like Bouchard in his draft year, they questioned Bouchard's defense and skating and obviously you know Dickinsons skating is better then Bouchards, and Dickinsons defensive game is more sound in his draft year.

Kent Hughes said in his presser that they traded up specifically to try and get Hage. That doesn't necessarily mean Eiserman wouldn't have been higher on their board and maybe they just didn't think he'd even be a possibility at 21, but either way, they got the guy they wanted when they moved up. He also said Demidov would've been their pick even if they had the #2 overall, so it really couldn't have worked out any better for them.

Don't worry about the optics, taking Levshunov was never going to be as sexy as picking Demidov to form a dynamic duo with Bedard, but it's a good pick, he looks like he'll be a monster on the back end and just as important to winning games as Demidov, if not more so.

The problem wasn’t the people they picked, their 2nd and 3rd 1sts were slight reaches but still justifiable. The price they paid however is not, they gave up 20, 34, 54 and 61 for 18 and 27. That is a huge overpay to move up 2 and 7 spots late in the 1st round considering both of those guys could have been got with their own original picks without giving up 2 seconds. If they just picked Eiserman with 18 then it would have been 100% justified but they didn’t.

A few great players from the completely ignored other CHL league, QMJHL, I'm surprised at least 2 were not picked first round, especially Gill (one of the best, if not the best d-man in that league). Not surprised though, unless they are generational talents, the QMJHL (which isn't just Quebec, all maritimes and Newfounland have or have had, not sure St-John's has a team right now, they switch between QMJHL and AHL teams here and there up by the sea. Also, surprised Antonin Verreault, who's the best player in that, points wise, is still ignored, and he's 20, so he's pretty much done unless he continues in some AHL team that wants him or in Europe and then signs in the NHL as a free agent, because he's proven to be first round material, even more so in a 32 team roster, but little QMJHL which has produces some of the best players of all time is always a little ignored, it's getting sad now with zero 1st rounders this year.

It's not only what the different teams scouts SEE... but also what they are LOOKING FOR. Different teams look for different qualities in players, so obviously they will rate them differently. As a Flyers fan, I like Luchanko and there were rumors several teams were upset that Philly picked him at 13, because they wanted him as well. He's 17, and has a long way to go. I was hoping, when Eiserman was still around at 18 that Philly would trade up to get him. Flyers need a natural goal scorer BADLY. Yes, his defense is very poor and you wonder how well he would mesh with Torts... but his upside is there, and he's exactly what the Flyers need. BTW, great job going over the 1st round, Shannon.

Parascak could be a steal, over 100 pts as a rookie in WHL and drawing comparisons to TJ Oshie and Brayden Point... big thing I heard from many on the TV coverage was his elite game sense and if he skated a little faster, he'd been a top 10 pick.... I believe I saw only Patrick Kane and Crosby more points as a rookie in CHL that Tarek

Apparently Anaheim liked both Sennecke and Yakemchuk. I knew Anaheim would be the team to pull the first off the board pick, but I didn't think they would take Sennecke. Though he is the better player over Yakemchuk so it could make sense.
