I'm not quite as confident as Shannon. While the Blues are in control, the Sharks will come out angry in game 6 with no pressure because everyone now thinks they will lose. But to all the SJ fans who were boasting and making fun of the Blues for hitting the Sharks rather than scoring in game 1, this is why. Those hits were not for game 1, they were for later in the series, a cumulative effect.

I like this game 5 much more than the 2016 game 5 against the Sharks. That was a heart-breaker with Pavelski scoring two insane deflection goals to totally turn the game around. Craig Berube has instilled a playoff winning strategy in this Blues team and they're not allowing the other teams' elite forwards to take over the games late in series. Even Couture looked ineffective in this one.

It's been a while since I've seen such a systematic surgical dismantling of a team in the playoffs. The Sharks already came into this series pretty banged up so it was only a matter of time before the Sharks would wear down as long as the Blues kept hitting and skating. Sharks will have to dig down deep to pull off a miracle win in game 6.
@LeftCoastPatriot5 жыл бұрын
It's not really a "dismantling" when their whole strategy is to concuss players. And that handpass and the eakin penalty resulting in referees getting suspended has made the refs scared to call anything against the blues. They've been headhunting hertl since the series started, tonight they put the dirtiest headshot on him. Then another dirty hit on pavelski. One on Braun before this. Headhunting Karlsson the whole series etc etc... clean hits are one thing but intentionally targeting player's heads is something else.

That’s what society has become. Nobody is in charge of their own destiny any more. Everyone looks outward to blame others. THANK GOD the NHL isn’t like the NFL whereby you have to have the administration (aka gov’t) take care of player and team issues. In the NHL the players take care of policing one another.
@STARPHASE5 жыл бұрын
@@CrystalRedTintcoat For sure. One thing that I respected from the Blues, is how the coach handled the hand pass in game 3. Down to earth. "It happens, we have to move on." And he told the players not to whine about it or talk to the media about it. Perfect way to handle it, and some fans need to take note.

Best all around Blues game of the playoffs. Now score the first goal in game 6 and put the Sharks on their heels early. Even if he wasn’t hurt the Blues should hit Karlsson at every opportunity. Historically, he’s been soft in his own end and that’s what you do to that type defenseman, especially if they’re on the small side. LGB!

This is the Blues team that most of us Blues fans have been waiting for this playoffs! This is how they went from last place in the entire league to division lead contenders! It frustrates opposing teams and they capitalize on the frustration and turnovers. IF the Blues play like this the rest of the way they have a good chance to win they're first Cup. If they don't..... they won't.

The second I saw Karlsson starting the game I questioned that call to have him on the ice right away and it proved my point. They said he had about 7 minutes of time in the first period and he looked awful. He couldn't keep up and was obviously laboring. I have no idea why DeBoer had him in so much when he has Burns but it just seemed really stupid but what was worse was the US announcers praising Karlsson the whole time, until he gave up the turnover that lead to the first goal. Not sure what game they were watching but Karlsson was obviously struggling and to me it just felt like playing with fire to have him in there at the start.

LaceratingSlyer I’m pretty sure one of the announcers is a huge homer for San Jose. His biased commentary is awful.

I totally agree. Even at the end of the first period the NBC announcers were talking about how good a period Karlsson was having, despite the giveaway to Sundqvist. I was like, are we even watching the same game? Is someone in their ear telling them to hype Karlsson to make SJ fans feel better?
@vitoc33315 жыл бұрын
Connor Madden And on the Martin Jones assist on Jaden Schwartz goal, that biased announcer tried so hard to defend Jones, while the other announcer just called him out saying Jones poor rebound control. It was so embarrassing for the first guy lol. Made me laugh hard

Vegas lost all three games against St.Louis regular season, I watched the last two and my feeling is we couldn’t do anything to overcome this team. Simply outplayed. Vegas Cane I agree. In my opinion Vegas was the better team in game 6 and first 50 mins of game 7. But only the result matters. Anyhow always glad to see a Vegas-friendly comment lol, it might be a good thing regard to Vegas’s early exit. Players could have more rest and time to develop. Marchessault, Stone and Theodore having a great time in IIHF tournament for team Canada makes me really eager to watch Vegas next season lol. God the blues just wear teams down. They borderline get out played the first few games and then it seems they get stronger. But in reality I thing their opponents are just getting tired and worn down. Same thing happened in they’re previous 2 rounds. Winnipeg and Dallas both looked far superior in the first 3to4 games. And then out of nowhere the blues looked stronger and they’re opponents looked mentally and physically exhausted. Crazy!
