Not me searching for this book on Amazon, getting distracted and looking for another book, only to end up practicing piano for a half hour and just now opening my phone realizing the irony of what happened. 😂 I think I’d benefit from reading this!

Sometimes my day ends with me putting everything away only to realize what I intended on doing started in that room and I never even did it yet. Usually though I’m happy that I did stuff I wanted to do forever because I forgot the task I deemed more important in the beginning…

Question: I have ADHD. I am also taking my daughter next week to be evaluated. I'm pretty confident she has it too. Her case is more obvious than mine (I have inattentive type and am not hyperactive, she is both inattentive and hyperactive, symptoms that are much more noticeable, which is why I wasn't diagnosed until after law school). Would this be a good book for a 12 year old just learning about her condition? She knows a little. I've always talked openly about it and she knows I suspect she has it and why and she watches KZbinrs with it sometimes (including you sometimes, mostly your music). But would this book be good for her, or is the target audience older? Thanks for all you do.

great question. I obviously dont know the answer, but I wanted to make a suggestion: a resource that might be good for her is the youtube channel How To ADHD

@@AliciaElnagger I watch that channel a lot. My daughter doesn't like it that much. It is geared toward a little older, high school and into adulthood. Some good stuff for a 12 year old, but not enough for her to relate to it. A lot of neurology on that channel, along with strategies for finance and other things she doesn't relate to yet.

This is such a good channel, I have ADHD and autism, and I have bullies, In fact, one of them has called me a dumbass for fidgeting with a pencil, he has harassed me for giving an a answer to a question about cells, getting called racist for telling the teacher about a student moaning and it making me and my friends uncomfortable. I do everything to see if people will like me, and I found some people who have helped me through this entire thing, They both have adhd, and they have siblings just like me, so once again, thank you for creating this channel and making these enchanting videos about what it’s like living and having adhd is like. ❤❤

I'm just about to read your book. I have off the charts ADHD for a female.... but I'm 55, a tenured professor of Neuroanatomy, and a witness to the power of a combo of meds and lifestyle management. No matter how many meds I take - and I am thankful for them - there are still everyday ways to be better. I have memorized "glasses, wallet keys and phone". It's nice to see you being yourself but respectful of the non-ADHD people in your life. But just recently I lost something off the top of my vehicle, not sure what

My son has ADHD and HOLY SMOKES YES. I know your book will help many so people! As part of my son's diagnosis we took a course on ADHD and while I knew a lot, I learned so much. Like every educator and school administrator needs to get information like that. It's an invisible diagnosis. You're just seen as a problem. A disruptive student. So not fair. Fortunately he had wonderful teachers who worked with him but that's not always the case.

There are more people with ADHD than have blonde hair. I outnumber myself! Diagnosed in 2001 at age 35, at my own expense. "ADHD in spades." There was so so little available for adults with ADHD. Meds help A LOT, but learning how to drive this brain has been a job unto itself. Life can be so much better, but it takes work and support and a forgiving nature. Pre-ordering now. Yay!

You're totally right, it's not a nice name at all, it forces you to live with a stigma (that you dont deserve at all) and in my experience, every person ive known with adhd has been insanely intelligent with exceptional problem solving skills. I was at a school function chatting with another father. A couple of years ago, I told him about my ADHD diagnosis and it sounded... familiar. He is now diagnosed and so is his daughter. His daughter has taken to rigid scheduling as a strategy which has worked very well for her. A little too well, he's talking to her about scheduling in some unscheduled time into her schedule. Anyway (tangent, sorry) he came up to me to tell me about it wearing an ADHD shirt. Then another father who also has it noticed the shirt and came over to talk to us both about it. One of my daughters I'm pretty sure has it too. She's being evaluated next week.

I have basically lived with it all my life n by the grace of God learned to cope somehow. The neurologist just told me the diagnosis and said , "there is nothing else I can do for you,"follow up with your doctor". No explanation, pamphlet, or help. Oh, my gosh. I’m going through the audiobook, which has been a challenge! (Ironically, I wasn’t able to finish audiobooks until this summer … when I finally found an affordable assessment for ADHD!) I’m on chapter 9, and I’m recalling how my fave job was clean-up and deboning the humongous turkey. (I also love to eat, which has provided its own challenges, because of hypoglycemia which in the past was controlled by all the exercise I was doing.) I’ve gave my Lyft driver a referral for your book and Jessica McCabe’s book. (Oh, and ADHD for Smart-A** Women, of course!)

We finished listening to the book. I was only diagnosed in my 50’s, yes ADHD is a label but it is a welcome label because my husband grew up having many many negative associations. Even my husband wasn’t sure sure although I suspected he did. It has been challenging at times being diagnosed later in life but books like yours are so uplifting and kind. Things are definitely looking up thanks to the book. There are so many times I can relate to Kim. I’ve noticed my husband is doing some more silly things when he has an ADHD moment. Perhaps more forgiving of himself.

Just finished your book. I read it and listened to it. Not exactly sure why but balled at the end. I have a daughter who is now 23 and a boyfriend who both have severe ADHD. It can be exhausting for me I can only imagine being the one that has it. My other two children has accused me of making excuses for her through out the years because of her behavior but as a mom I always felt she needed protection a. She has been on medication since 5th grade which has helped but as she got older high school she found pot and started self medicating and has gone back and forth with medication. She still lives with me we still struggle. As for my BF he just was diagnosed a month ago as I had saw all the signs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this book. As I’m crying writing this. It has helped me so much and hoping my daughter and BF will open themselves to read or listen to it also. I know I will be listening to it a few times as the support and knowledge has been such a help and encouragement. Thank you to your whole family!!

We’ll put. I hate the name. There are some crazy superpowers that I’m so proud of and I’m not ashamed to be different. I use to mention it to people often because I felt like there was nothing to be ashamed of. I still feel that way but I do mention it less than I used to because when people/coworkers know then everything gets noticed and chalked up to me having ADHD. Like “normal” busy people don’t set things down somewhere and forget where they put it or get distracted. I mention it less now because I feel like when people are well aware that I have ADHD then they almost keep an unspoken tally of everything i do and the label ends up hurting me, when really I’m also doing some pretty awesome things that would get more recognition if I weren’t being judged for silly things.

hey, pen. i had an idea for you to play with this morning, to 'the sound of silence' hello coffee my old friend... i've come to imbibe you once again. because i just don't know what to say until i have had some of you today, and the caffeine... is like lightning in my veins... but never remains. it's just the smell.... of coffee.

As a 52yr old diagnosed with ADHD at 5yrs old I’m definitely not where I should be in life professionally partly due to lack of focus and not going to work. I get easily burnt out and depressed and growing up on Ritalin has caused memory issues. I feel stuck 😢

I love you guys! Following you since COVID. Thank you for "coming all out". ADHD is a gift and a challenge... But mostly a gift. God bless you and the family.😊

ADHD is. awesome. You and Kim are. awesome. And as a petite woman with ADHD who is soooo close to finishing a PhD in special education, and who is a big advocate of raising awareness and breaking stigma, and who shares your videos when teaching undergrads, and who totally loves Kim’s beautiful style, and who is going to your website to buy the book just as soon as I finish this comment… Know what other ADHD merch I’d love to see? 😁 An “ADHD is Awesome” shirt that fits like the ones Kim wears. Please. If you can. If not, no worries, still love you ❤️ (But if you can, that’d be awesome… great song btw. 😊)

Thank you! Been a fan since just before Covid, but it wasn’t until Amazing Race that I realized that ADHD was a superpower, and going back and watching the channel has helped me harness this power. Looking forward to the book.

I already love it just based on the title - I love that it celebrates who we are rather than how do we overcome this "problem" of who we are. Can't wait to see what's inside. (I'm a mom with ADHD parenting a child with ADHD, so probably will be helpful in many ways in our house.)
