Both my mom and grandmother showed significant memory loss after each life-saving surgery they underwent, to the point of dementia. I don't know if there's a genetic component, but I avoid going under general anesthesia as much as possible because of this.

I would look at their diet, carbs and sugar cause Dementia and Alzheimer’s, it could just be a stress on the brain from the Surgery and a horrible diet, that set off the type 3 Diabetes. If you have the same diet, I would look into a low carb diet , I know there is a Genetic component as to where disorders will hit, the brain, liver, pancreas, muscles, Ext.

@@nancyannesunboxings Dementia and Alzheimer’s are being called type three diabetes. It is a metabolic disorder of the brain. Please look into the carnivore diet for Dementia and Alzheimer’s, and research Methylene blue, for brain repair. These are 2 things have made a drastic difference in my brain function at 60.

I wonder with all the decades of using anesthesia that we wouldn't know what the repercussions, if any, would be.

I just had a "functional rhinoplasty" from a ENT surgeon, not a plastic surgeon, but he did a surgery similar to the kind of nose job that you did before you stopped. Little tweaks instead of a drastic change as far as appearance goes. The main goal was for me to breathe better, but part of the reason I couldn't breathe was the ugly "nasal droop" on the top that looked like a hook or bird's beak. Removing this made my nose shorter and more attractive. I've watched rhinoplasty surgery videos on here, and I definitely wouldn't want to do them either. lol. Kinda disappointing that you don't perform since most plastic surgeons who do are butchers who will do anything for money. You seem more cautious than most plastic surgeons.

I just found your podcasts and am really enjoying them. However, in this one, your side bar (at 17:42) about hormone replacement therapy is not accurate at all. The "facts" posted within that have been completely disproven. To represent this accurately, I recommend you reach out to experts, such as Dr Mary Claire Haver and Dr Kelly Casperson just to name 2, to make sure you're not spreading incorrect information. This is extremely important to at least 50% of the population.

OF COURSE getting anesthesia, especially over age 50-60, is dangerous, especially multiple times. It can cause permanent damage -- I've seen it myself with older relatives. You saying "we don't know" is both disingenuous and alarming.

Your math doesn't add up?? You didn't do 26 years of training to become a plastic surgeon. I think it's more like 14. You said you did 26 years of schooling and finished at 30 years old????
