Thank you. Dinner is solved for tonight! Please write a cookbook. Seriously. I know it's not the same every time... but your channel has inspired me to grow tomatillos, learn to make bread... I even taught myself how to make scrapple on account of your channel. I would buy a cookbook and I'm sure I'm not alone. You bring different flavors with you. Like your pulled pork in green salsa... I just go back and forth between honey bbq sauce and vinegar bbq sauce until we're so sick of pulled pork it goes to the dogs. I never thought to add green salsa to it. Once, I added pineapple but it just didn't taste good... pineapple jalapeno would have probably done the trick. Anyway... Thank you for saving dinner tonight and helping me to finish off this pork butt... and for all the inspiration.

You know, hurricane in the neighborhood. And.... Chili Verde! Num, num, num! I lived in Calif for years and grew accustomed to the flavors and heat of the food. Now living in Germany it took me a while to 'adjust'. Recent trip back to Calif blew me away. You really do adapt. Germans seem to love sour'd foods. Lots of vinegar (if done traditionally, fermented - think really 'good' Sauerkraut (not the canned crap) is absolutely delicious). I end up having to make my own salsa, etc. if I want that Calif taste.

I like those overgrown clean up videos too. My favorite ones are uncovering overgrown ornamental paving on an old abandoned mansion. They were turning the whole thing into a B&B and it had pveriously been a nunnery and it was ancient and had been remodeled badly many times and he was restoring it and uncovering all its surprises. There was an enormous section in front that was these beautiful pavers that were covered with sod. Not only was each paver a work of art, but the original designer had used two different colors of pavers and made an pleasing design. And watching him clear it down to those pavers was fantastic. Well, Mr Hollar, I finally caught up to you, having been two months behind because of a surgery this spring! I too was weed whacking when you were. I had to do my fruit trees. Like yours, my weeds were up to my chin. Ugh! Took three days. (Yup, took a lot longer than I expected.) As for your soil, having it be like flour is not a good thing. It kills your biome. You want a texture like crumble. With that being said, I am unsure if soil in a greenhouse could ever have a living biome because of the heat and being so dry if not watered constantly. I just harvested the last batch of tomatoes for processing. Like you, there are more on the vines, but we have our quota and will be good for over a year. Salsa day is tomorrow, along with corn harvesting. This weekend we do more chickens and possibly begin harvesting the Kennebec potatoes. (planted late because of the surgery.) I have also been harvesting seeds. One cannot neglect that important step before retiring old plants. I had one giant tomato (my own processing variety) that only had 9 seeds. Gotta love genetics! I had to chuckle because I too have a volunteer elderberry plant in the exact same spot by my greenhouse. Weird. We had eggplant parmesan tonight. I too like spicy so I put in one of my fiery red fresh peppers. Flame on! My grand kiddo's favorite toy is a $1, lawn sale special, front end loader. Takes it everywhere. I will be digging out the Tonkas when he comes to visit next time. You are fortunate to not get mud in your chicken pens. I had to put in 17 tons of sand to keep my birds out of the mud. Happy chickens now and they have all the grit they need. I recently destroyed a giant white-faced hornet nest that was in-line with my path to the chickens. Was hit a couple times in the head, but fortunately I had a hat on at the time. It took me 4 tries to destroy the nest. It is that time of the year where nests are large and they are beginning to get aggressive. Be well Hollar family.
