My granddaughter and her fiancé were helping me build my raised beds last week. (In my 70's and I take all the help they offer) I had already cut all the lumber and they were helping me screw it all together. We got to one piece that was a 1/4 inch longer and he wanted me to cut it again. Good Lord its a planter. We kept on putting it together. LOL

Woodchips and Construction Crew. To all my favorite homesteaders The Fit Farmer, Art and Bri, The Hollar Homestead and Sow the land. I would love to see you all work together again. I have an Idea that would help all of you. All of you need woodchips. The fit farmer has loads of wood and stumps sitting on his property that need to see the business end of a Stump Grinder and large wood chipper. Too much for one person. The Hollar Homestead needs to finish that house especially with a new baby coming along it looks like they are feeling overwhelmed. Sow the land is a great builder and Art and Bri are hardworking folks. All of you are in need of wood chips too. I would love for you to get together like you do for processing hogs and chickens. Share the bounty of the fit farmers huge stockpile of scrap wood and help the Hollar homestead finish that house. Cheers Huge fan of what you are doing!!! David.

It's so nice to see you all outside doing your thing to make your home(stead) work. The boys have grown so much since I really had a good look at 'em. Munchie is getting so big, it's time for a new baby, haha. He's precious (as all your boys seem to be). I especially loved the short little clip of your boys walking on the gravel path with their bare feet. I used to be able to do that - in fact summer was one season that I never wore shoes. Unless we went to a store or somewhere that required them, I never had them on. Fortunately, the corner store and the beach store where our grandma's cabin was didn't require shoes, especially on summer-loving kiddos. That was the good old days, haha. Now, as I watched your boys walking along I found myself thinking "oooh, watch out for that poky stone there!" *SIGH* I've become a wuss. Keep up the great work, Hollar family! You are looking very well, happy and just... relaxed, settled and content. It's beautiful to see! xoxox Heather🇨🇦

# Ben when I had to do big projects like ur trailer n wasnt fond of getting into it all ...I always looked at it as 1-look how much I've got done ...NOT how much was need to get done yet 2- look at how much I've saved in money n it's being donexour way without arguements with hired help or the fact that I dont have to go behind them to make sure it was all done 100 % correctly ...3- have pride in what u have done n look how much you r teaching ur boys ....n the list goes on *** When we work 4xoirselves we have to post ourselves on our back now n again cuz no one is going to b giving us that raise in $that we so richly deserve...Your all doing great n a special meal or rest hour or maybe day is always well needed it .n good 4 the mind soul n grand ideas even...makes the next day go easier 4 sure !!! Bless ya'll keep at it ur doing great n thank ur lucky stars 4 all those power tools u got now aday ...cuz they weren't around when I was trying to do what u r now doing n I had little to no help n most all of it unless u count the worried dog or cat that was missing their lap or play time with me ...

Y'all are the epitome of sustainable. Not only are you well on your way to a great deal of food production, but using what you have for what you need is a wonderful example for others. My husband will always ask before tossing stuff, often that and the other prizes acquired on bulk trash day street shopping has netted us great finds for the garden and other projects. We are still, after 30 years, using a solar window screen from a neighbor's junk pile. It will now shade my new Green Stalk Garden tower from our hellacious west Texas sun. Keep on keeping on. Hi guys, Sitting here watching your video and dreaming of how much I would love to be in your shoes right now... What is it about homesteading that just feels so right? Why spend all that time, energy, heartache and aggravation when, truth be told, it would be so much easier to sit on your couch and buy everything you need? For me, having done everything I can do to my own house (and myself) here in suburbia to be as self sufficient as possible, I think it is the challenge to overcome obstacles, the secure feeling of self reliance and the incredible satisfaction when you finally complete projects that actually matter in your life like procuring real food security, potable water, safe, comfortable shelter, reliable power and yes, a few creature comforts as well. Is that the appeal for everyone or just me? Sorry to ramble on. Wishing you good health, happy times and all the best from California 💛

Loved this and I love making something new out of something already used. Meg you look great! Loved the boys doing laundry. Reminds me of myself back in my youth. Saturday was my day for the family laundry to help mom out as there were nine of us and Sat was laundry day. I didn't mind and I still love doing laundry today. Loved the smell of the sheets and clothes coming off the line......so fresh and smelled like sunshine! I taught my children by the time they were 9 how to sort and get their own laundry done. Not that they had to do it but I thought it didn't hurt to start. I am so excited to see you work on the inside of the home so that when baby comes you will be able to be in and Meg can have some space to do what she needs to. It's going to be so nice as Ben, you do beautiful work. Love what you did with the new chicken tractor.......perfect! The place is looking so nice and tidy and boy oh boy have you kids done some work since you landed on your homestead. Kudos to you both and the boys as I know they are really pitching in! So many great lessons for the kids. Re-use, don't waste, you can build it yourself. Knowing where your food comes from. Most kids don't know any of these things.

I just discovered your videos about a month ago and I love watching them. The down side though is that I'm 65 and my desire to homestead won't be able to happen. I will have to live vicariously through your videos. Thanks for what you post. Continued success and happiness to all of you.

I just traded my 1980 Chevy stepside that I pulled out of a field and rebuilt in my spare time for a woodmizer LT15WIDE. But now I have a mill for my future timber framing projects. That and I can now make/sell 6x6 and larger posts, pine board sheathing, deck boards, and a bunch of other stuff I need for my woodworking/building addiction. Like they say... How do you eat an elephant? A bite at a time.

This was my first time watching your channel, it looks like your doing something similar to what I’m doing with my Grandparents home. Great video

Nicely done Ben! I actually like the turquoise ambient light the chicks get inside. They'll be like cool Miami Beach chickens and man are they going to taste good. ;-)
