@@gaynor1721 I've heard both Debra and Debbie. I don't see much difference. Neither of these distinctions changes my point. Debra/Debbie is a really great person. BTW: I view one as a more formal version and one as a less formal version of the same name. If you want to get into the weeds. Both names may have had different linguistic origins, but like many names in english they have basically merged. One Way or Another wasn't about an ex-boy friend but about a serial killer, Ted Bundy, Debbie met, as she wrote in her memoir. Harry was alone in the streets of Manhattan in the early morning hours, searching for a taxi. Then, a white car pulled up and the driver offered her a ride. Harry had doubts about getting inside the car, but her feet were aching and the driver appeared to be polite. Upon realizing she was trapped, Harry managed to escape and lived to tell the tale..

Back in the late 70's, "Blondie" was a callback to the long-running Sunday newspaper comic strip by Chic Young. Blondie cartoons had been running weekly in most newspapers since the 1930's, and its main characters, Blondie and Dagwood Bumstead, had achieved near-universal pop culture status. Blondie herself was portrayed as the voice of reason in a middle-class suburban family headed by Dagwood, a bumbling, self-indulgent husband and father. At the time Debbie Harry took on her Blondie stage persona, her cool, unflappable style echoed comic-strip Blondie's limitless raised-eyebrow patience with her husband's manic cluelessness. It came off like Debbie was comic-strip Blondie's rockstar secret identity.
