28:36 - By the way, the two old homeless men that Hakeem gave the big wad of pocket cash to, were characters from another Eddie Murphy film that came out before Coming to America, titled, "Trading Places", which also stars Dan Ackroyd, and Jamie Lee Curtis. This scene in the movie was a hilarious little nod to that other film. You would have had to see that movie to really get the joke.

Eddie Murphy was the funniest man on the planet in the 1980s. Everything he was in was box office gold! Coming to America was and still is a comedic masterpiece. But if you really want to see his absolute magnum opus, then you all must see Beverly Hills Cop, considered by many to be his all time greatest role and one of my all time favourite films too. You’d all love it!

Eddie Murphy as the old Jewish guy Saul is one of my favorite roles ever. The eyes give it away a little bit, but only if you're really looking for it. Just great. Eddie totally played the character, the voice, everything. And with makeup by the great Rick Baker- with whom Eddie would work on many projects to come.

Both actors playing the King and Queen in this film, James Earl Jones (King Joffe) and Madge Sinclair (Queen Aoleon), later went on to play King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi in The Lion King. Madge Sinclair sadly passed away a year after The Lion Kings release.

35:17 "...I shall deal with him myself." A line that might have reminded our Homies of a certain other movie they've seen - from a galaxy far, far away - if only that rich baritone voice of James Earl Jones had sounded familiar enough! Virtuoso performances from Eddie Murphy (and strong supporting cast) really do make this a great movie of the 1980s - and there's more!
