@mikeshoe742 ай бұрын
@@lucheechala Yes. That's actually one of the earliest exposures I got to both actors. Watching Roots was part of my 8th grade curriculum. Although it is harsh subject matter, and tough to stomach, the cast and the acting in Roots is as good as it gets. Since grade school, I have watched it independently a few times on my own. I don't care if Alex Haley is accused of some plagerism. This was very important film to my upbring as well as countless others who also had this in their curriculum. the lessons taught afterwards didn't revolve around reparations or hatred towards whites, It was just an understanding of what some people went through. Unfortunately I believe that series is now part of cancel culture and is tough to find. Which is a shame, cause I learned a lot from it.

As much as I love these two, it is very much disappointing that younger gens don't know as much about black cultural pasts or even actors that are staples in the film industry. Somewhat very disheartening. A lot of these actors that Jae says look alike, have no resemblance at all. 😢. I smh alot more than I pump my fist now. 💯 still love though.

That’s the cultural issue the old heads be talking about with hip hop. The younger generations don’t revere the legends like we used to but it’s partially the generation before them that didn’t show the youngins the importance in that.
