I don’t think being alone is disastrous. You should really be clear on the distinction of choosing to live alone and loneliness. I’m single, live alone and prefer it. I have friends and family and it’s more than enough, but I prefer solitude. Being around people honestly drains me and distracts from my mental and physical health.

I personally agree with Bryan Johnson when it comes to sleeping alone - and it doesn't automatically mean he's lonely. It can mean he just prefers to sleep by himself and gets better quality sleep, especially for the sake of his protocol. I'd understand this choice as I sleep much better by myself and I'd hazard a guess that most people would sleep better solo too. It's just a social norm and a habit to sleep next to a partner - and nothing wrong with that either!

Thank you Clare. Your skin is glowing, so keep up the good work. I think your guest triggered some of us when mentioning Bryan Johnson & his preference to sleeping alone. I find more and more people who are in marriages and long-term relationships are choosing to sleep alone for better sleep. As well, people are choosing to be alone, not because they can't find someone but because they are all around happier doing so. I have been in one long-term relationship after another since I was 16 yrs old, now 59. And not because I saught after it, it just seemed to naturally happen. But, I'm extremely independent and always have been. So being alone for this past yr is the best I've felt in so long. Having my time all to myself, not having to worry about anyone else is honestly blissful. Also, even when i was married and in a relationship i couldn't sleep in the same bed with someone else. I literally had to sleep in a separate room. Either because they snored, were too hot next to me, or just feeling their energy kept me awake. Its been like that since my 20's. So, for her to assume that if you sleep alone or live alone you must be lonely is so far off from the truth, for most. Sorry, I know this wasn't the topic, but she kind of opened the door on that.

Interesting conversation Clare, from Dr Elena’s perspective this is her life’s work & she is a living experiment. For me to live my life this way would prevent the joy of a social life, flexible friendships & a fulfilling career/job, all important for QUALITY of life 😊 Side note, I love the hacks from the Glucose Goddess & have recently implemented them into my lifestyle ❤ EDIT - skincare I have just started on the Biojuve regime as my 65yo skin barrier has been so compromised by my addiction to the next big thing so I won’t be going down the dragonfruit rabbit hole 🙄

Honestly I am on hold for NMN due to Dr David Sinclair pushing it. Take nicotinic acid instead, it’s far safer and is no 1 supplement for increasing nad+ (via the preiss handler pathway) which is what needed by every cell in our body to thrive. You get used to the flush and it actually dissipates once you have taken it for a week or so, I take 4gms a day, it’s given me better skin, hair, energy, blood work at age 50 than I had 8yrs ago. Also very cheap.

Always enjoy your interviews, Clare. Health span, me too! There are many other longevity researchers/Dr’s/scientists who would say her high animal fat focus diet actually decreases life span? At least she is have a small amount of fibre as she said, you cannot maintain your microbiome if you remove all fibre. We have to find what works best for us, don’t we. While I find these biohackers fascinating, many of them must have such a self focused lifestyle. I always come back to looking to the Blue Zones where actual ‘real’ people have lived well into old age and they all seem to suggest more of a whole food plant based diet with some but not all, having a small amount of meat/fish/egg, some even have wine too :) they tend to be family centered, invested in a faith community, and just keep on moving. Sounds like a good recipe to me! Xxx p.s. love my whole oats too, and they work for me and do not spike my glucose but always have with a cup of berries, some hemp, flax and walnuts…delish!

First and foremost, congratulations on wonderful chanel! Brilliantly executed variety of topics, properly timed questions, relevance etc. I am 51 too, so there is a subjective reason for me for following. I've got two remarks though. 1. Choosing to be alone and loneliness are two opposite things. There are studies that show people who live alone (e. g. hermits) may feel exactly the same amount of happiness as the rest of the "social animals". Second, unfortunately I remember that I heard this in a podcast but cannot remember which one, peoples' preferences carnivore or vegetarian depend on their genetic material. Maybe it is something worth looking into.

Honesty a good skincare regimen, plus a decent diet, with some supplements - then add all the other 'costs' just to live a (mainly, you've gotta have some fun!😊) healthy and happy life you enjoy, sadly it gets to be prohibitively expensive for many, if not most people. While I found this conversation interesting I have a lot of reservations about her lifestyle of consuming so much supplements and eating primarily a meat diet. I have become a strong proponent of Dan Buettner’s blue zone lifestyle in which he visited parts of the world where there are pockets of societies of people living without disease into their 90-100. He found common themes and one big one is they are primarily vegetarians. They also eat key foods (no supplements) that appear to keep them healthy. Read up or watch the documentaries. Very fascinating.

All of us could live longer if those that create supplements, devices and protocols would make them more affordable. I’m currently working and spending probably $300 or more a month in health supplements, more if you factor in Red Light therapy, skin care and other devises. When I retire which is not too far off, since I’m well over 50, I will not be able to afford it. The only thing I have going for me is my parents and their parents had long lives. My father is 80 and his mother passed last year at 97. I hope to accumulate some anti aging in the bank so that when my income drops I will have good health for a longer period of time.

Having some alone time is good, esp if you're an introvert, but it depends on what you mean by "aloneness". If you take it as far as isolation then that creates mental illness in people. Human beings weren't designed for isolation, and you can't take it upon yourself to rewrite the rules; it's in our DNA. I've been bullied and abused by people in my life, but I still love people and I think we're all a gift to each other. Our species wouldn't have made it this far if we all had an isolation mentality. I think love is the greatest superpower. Love thy neighbor.

If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; 16 because everything in the world-the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life-does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. 17 Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but the one who does the will of God remains forever.

So much bad advise especially for women, this scientist needs to update her knowledge in terms of fasting and carbohydrates! Working out without food as a woman is a complete disaster, it spikes your cortisol and imbalances your hormones which is especially difficult for post menopausal women but slso for women in reproductive stage of life. Complex carbs are the key to longevity, the longest lived people on earth from the blue zones eat mostly carbs and very little animal protein. Green vegetables are a must for brain health, excluding fruit and vegetables from ones diet is what causes disease in the first place. There are no longed live people on earth that have been keto their entire lives and that should say something.
