I think that you missed out something crucial, and that is that skydweller wearers also want this model because it has the most complicated movement that Rolex make... something I feel that also applies to what you mentioned before about the white gold sub ,that only people who know about the industry and the horology of watches will recognize and appreciate :) loved the video though :)

Many years ago I was wearing my stainless Datejust and I was with a customer. I noticed he was wearing a watch like mine silver in colour. Then I noticed it had the day aperture on it which I didn’t realise you could get. Later I discovered that the day aperture was only available on the white gold version, the Day date.

Wife bought her 1st Rolex from AD. 31mm two tone yellow gold on jubilee with diamond bezel. Watch looks discrete indoors under low light, but in the sun or bright lights it’s very noticeable. Great channel BTW!!!

So pretty much everyone that buys any of them is doing pretty well in life. Lol. I have the datejust w smooth bezel (but I also have a wg fluted bezel if I wanna switch out for more classy look.) and a day date. The datejust is def the more everyday pending if I'm wearing wg chain. And the day date is when I'm wearing my yg chain more on dressy occasions. I wear the datejust also if I'm driving the cayanne turbo. Then the daydate when driving the 911 turbo.

Bought my first Rolex this past June… 2005 Bluesy and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady Date with Diamond bezel for my wife …then went on to buy the 2023 Datejust with Mint green dial fluted bezel and oyster bracelet in July. August was a 2017 Datejust in white gold with a Rhodium dial and Jubilee bracelet. September was a 2023 Yachtmaster, October was a 2010 Polar White Explorer II (which was the one I went to buy to begin with back in June), and November was a 2008 Milgauss with a white dial …. The one that started it all for me, as far as buying a Rolex was concerned, but I never pulled the trigger on buying …. Went a little bit ham this year 😳

Yes so with this being such a highly sought after model, it would be unlikely you will be able to get this model as your first watch. You may have to build a relationship and buy a few other less desirable pieces to get offered this one down the line. I hope this helps! 🙌

For me, have been very selective as well as very lucky in the selection of my Rolex watches. My first one I got is a 2950's Date just Bubbleback with Red numbers. I liked it because of my interest in things that are (VINTAGE) different but understood by others as well as not as common as the rest that others will buy for themselves based more on trend than taste. My next one I got is a 5512 Submariner I bought at a Pawn Shop for what I thought back then in 1994 was a lot ($750.00), but as we all know, is highly collectable nowadays. I do have a contemporary GMT II Root Beer, again because I liked the look being different from so many others I see so often. For something more subtle I wear a 1940's 14K Bubbleback with a sub second hand in 14K Rose Gold. Again for me it's not about status, but the artistry and the craftsmanship that goes in to each of these pieces. Although I like the flashier Day-Date pieces along with the Daytona's, they just draw too much attention from others and that's not something I'm interested in. If you have the means get the one that fits YOU !

I have to say, you are spot on! I have an 07' Sea Dweller which is my everyday, for the exact reasons that you mentioned about the Submariner. I dived offshore for 22 years and the watch was my treat to my self, and now I'm looking at a GMT Pepsi jubilee for its collectability. lol... that's too funny. Good Job.
