Awesome video. Video that I absolutely relate to. In 2000 I discovered lucky craft and got the Stacey 90s! Fished CJ Strike in Mountainhome Idaho on 1 April and put them in the boat!! Smallies! I have a box totally dedicated to Stacey 90s! I also found a technique that works good with the 90s. That when fishing 1 to 10 feet deep you can use it as a crankbait and just slowly sweep it over the rocks, “bolder size” and that bill will bang those rocks and it absolutely kills them. That’s when the fish are moving up from deeper water! Now I have a box solely dedicated to megabass jerk baits. I discovered megabass one year ago. I must be living under a rock. Lol

Great Video guys!!! I'm glad y'all covered some baits that I don't have yet. One bait that deserves an honorable mention is the old Megabass Live-X Leviathan... It's not great in the coldest of water but in late Winter when they start staging it's the best one I have found. It's less about jerking and more about different length pulls. When the water warms more and they get shallower the Live-X Margay is the best bait Megabass has ever made. Julius should get a few...They will work all throughout the year on tour.

Thanks for some great info. I'm in N.Florida, almost Georgia. The lakes near me fish a little different then the rest of the state. I like going down those rabbit holes because thinking outside of the box is often the way to catch fish, when everyone else is focused on the same old tactics. I actually was throwing some vintage lures I have had for like 30 years and was catching fish on them. I have a couple old white red head Bass Oreno's, slugos, hush puppies, and slugo SS's. It seemed more productive then 30 years ago when everyone was throwing those baits.. still loving the mega bass vision 110+1, and the xnanahan +1,+2...but the vintage lures were working for me the past couple weeks....jimi

Yeah Hippie, I have feathered trebles like alot of guys have a regular treble hook box. I think I've bought out the Hook Ups feathered treble stock a few times...lol. Sometimes a plus 2 rigged to stay up higher is a great trick when they're finicky. I think one important take away is the deeper the presentation the more important the angler input and the quality if equipment...eps with the MB +2. Those Katsuagi hooks are fine with 10lb in open water...I just play em out alot more. It's hard to beat the MB hooks when they are just swiping baits cause if they touch em, they're hooked! One last thing...tear it up this year Julius, you got the skills dude!

Loving the deep dive about these lures. I was thinking about getting the evergreen combat stick for a jerkbait rod. It looks like they're all sold out because of your great promo. Will the promo still be available if someone ordered a rod that is on back order?
@joshwhite80552 жыл бұрын
I think the deal is "turn over" . Yes the Bass follow bait but at the end of the day - the bait breathes the same way as the predator fish . When the thermocline flips and the oxygen content in the water is on the bottom - the bait will naturally start getting deeper , in turn so will the Bass

This video is actually perfect timing. I been trying to get a Windbuster so I checked out your video on rod alternatives. I saw the Steez AGS utility player spin and NRX 822s SYR. I’m gonna get one of these two. I want that Windbuster sensitivity for bottom contact but be able to swap to a jerk bait or crank. I fish big lakes on a yak so I want a flex rod for that stuff. I’m getting an Exist. My question is which rod rod should I lean towards and should I go 2500 or 3000? Typically I’m throwing lighter weights and for hardbaits 5/8th is about where I’m maxing out. I was wondering if you could help me out. Thanks for the awesome content as always!
@thehookuptackle_usa2 жыл бұрын
The Steez for bottom contact is amazing, but if you want it to toss a little jerkbait too - the NRX+ SYR would be better

So based off your advice on Instagram, I’m preordering the 110 special for dedicated +2 use. I’m normally a straight 10# fluoro guy with my jerkbaits. What test mono/what brand would you use? I kinda like the defiler mono. Would you prefer a bantam in a 7 ratio or a metanium in a 7 ratio?

Love Megabass jerkbaits. I own a good number of them. Some jerkbaits, mainly the 110s, have cracked beaks out of the package, and/or their beaks will break during fishing. I have 4 almost brand new jerkbaits that have this problem. Is there anything I can do to get them repaired or replaced?

Ok my friends Help me with this question. I got a shimano 6.2:1 gear ratio. But i feel like is not helping me to get down quickly. What reel do y’all used for jerkbait.
@thehookuptackle_usa2 жыл бұрын
6:1 or 7:1. Just make sure the reel isn’t too fast that it picks up too much line on the pause
@Veritas84Aequitas2 жыл бұрын
I would look into the lure you're throwing, using straight fluoro (if not already), tungsten strips and/or heavier hauge hooks. Personally I use a 3000 size / 6 spd spinning reel and it works great so I wouldn't necessarily focus on gear ratio being a main issue. If you apply the above, cast out, reel slightly to position the bait (to avoid tangle/foul retrieve) , count it down, then start retrieve at required depth it will help. There are many variables in dialing in this technique and every lake I fish up here in Ontario can range quite drastically in terms of modification for that specific body of water. Hope this helps slightly and good luck
