Usually a not big fan of these "something in 202X" videos but this one is very good! Especially by providing the necessary context with other cameras which is usually omitted by other throwback videos.

Great video! I found most of my favorite images were coming from either Sony “R” series bodies or Nikon Z8/9, so I upgraded to the A7R5. The 61mp sensor gives me basicallly a hybrid of MF, FF, and APSC in one platform. The downsampled 26mp in MRAW/Crop look superior to me than regular 26mp APSC offerings and afford smaller file sizes. Crop Mode also transformed my lens collection giving me basically an instantaneous 1.5x TC for all my lenses. My Tammy 50-400 now has a 600mm reach in crop mode and plenty of mp to use. Without 3rd party TC options the money this saved me alone was less than upgrading from my A74. For the first time I actually prefer Sony’s color science over The others (maybe not Fuji lol). All of this applies to the A7R4 as well… I actually prefer the button layout on that model better but do enjoy the new menu system on the R5. I was not expecting the improved IBIS and 4D LCD vari-tilt mech to make such a marked improvement to my photography and enjoyment of using the Sony… I can’t believe the handheld shots I’m getting… and there is no understating how perfect this new variable tilt screen works… best of both worlds and then some. The A7R5 (and I’d wager the A7R4a) is what I wanted the A7IV to be… only missing the 15fps I’d prefer. Thanks for the upload, excellent overview.

A side note: one thing that it's great about Sony system for people in a tight budget is that Sony allow APSC lenses used in full frame mode. Canon, Nikon and Panasonic forces the APSC crop. There are great APSC zoom lenses that covers full frame in one of the zoom zones and there are prime lenses that near covers full frame. If the lens cannot cover all the frame you can crop at your taste for photo (square crop for example) or crop for stabilization in video.
@twowheels8082 ай бұрын
You get the Hollywood telescope effect if you use a crop lens on a full frame Sony. I’m ok with the APSC crop. It truly is one of the cool things about the Sony E mount. I have a 11mm APSC prime that I use for real estate videos because it gives a full frame equivalent of 16.5mm and it’s super compact and light as a feather which is great for gimbal work.

Thanks for the video, exactly what I was looking for. Coming from Fujifilm I'm looking for a Sony Fullframe body with a tilt screen. Too bad the newer models, especially the sexy a7c only has a flip out screen. The A7RV is way too overkill for me so I think the A7R IV is the best option for me. Although I'm not sure I need the Megapixels

@joes28286 ай бұрын
@@harryvuemedia5106 exactly! As a photographer it’s your job to know your camera back and forth. Once you’ve accomplished that, in this case, the menu system all of a suddenly is no longer a “mess” or “difficult” to navigate.
@andrescarrasco12486 ай бұрын
The same here, most people don't get that it was a professional menu for professional photographers, if you aren't one you could have only stayed on automatic and get great results

You can live with the old menu once you get used to it, but having auto focus transition speed 11 pages away from the focus mode setting doesn't make it particularly professional :)

Nice video. I honestly think, though, that the A7Riii is the ‘last of its kind’. At its launch, it offered the best hybrid experience of up to 10 fps, high resolution of 42 MP, 4k video, great autofocus… Then, Sony started dividing everything up to video (A7S), speed (A9) and resolution (A7R) and - if you want a hybrid - you need to pony up to the very expensive (but good) A1
@TheHybridShooter6 ай бұрын
Thank you! The A7R IV was the last non-hybrid high-res special, so it is the last of its kind. The A7R III is not, as it was surpassed by another high-res special. That is what I meant by "the last of its kind."
@MyLifeFrAiurGaming5 ай бұрын

I switched from the A7RIII to the IV, and then switched switched back... I love the RIV but I didn't find any technical benefits for my purposes and I preferred the smaller body of the RIII. The older battery grip is a better design also and I came to realise that 42MP is the sweet spot for me. The EVF is definitely sharper/cleaner on the RIV, I prefer the buttons and I love the APS-C mode with 27MP, giving extra range to my zooms with loads of resolution to play with. That's very handy. The A7III(A) is still my main camera and I don't see any reason to spend the money to 'upgrade' yet. It's funny, Sony were so far ahead of the curve with the RIII and RIV, we're only just appreciating what great cameras they still are.

I would respectfully disagree. I've been shooting the A7RV for over a year coming from the A7RIII. First, the AF and EVF (2x resolution) are far superior. But most importantly, AWB is even better and greatly improves the colors. Plus, improved menus, raw size options, improved IBIS and lastly what most photogs rave about is the tilt/fully articulating rear screen (that has higher resolution). In summary, there's are $500 difference between the two - personally, I feel its worth paying $500 for the A7RV; rather than a 5 year old camera.
@TheHybridShooter5 ай бұрын
I wouldn't necessarily say that we disagree, I agree that the A7R V is a better camera in many ways and with 500 USD difference a better value. As I have explained, I just appreciate the simplicity and small size of the A7R IV.

same shutter failure as the A7 iii, sony has good sensor but lack the quality of other brands sadely.
@TheHybridShooter4 ай бұрын
Not really. Mechanical shutter is the most fragile part of every camera regardless of the brand. The "issue" is that both A7 III and A7R IV are by far the best selling cameras in their respective categories, so you simply hear about shutter failures the most. Much like when every Apple issue makes the news, whilst nobody reports on Samsung issues, unless their products start to catch fire.
