The dahlias are finally looking OK so I'm taking advantage of the opportunity to make a bouquet ... which means this is a rather distracted video. But the second half gets a little more informative. :)-

LOVE this video! I’m so glad you don’t edit these garden strolls much because, as a “dog mom”, I can 100% relate to the spots of mischief by sweet Magnus. ❤ Thanks so much for keeping it real with us, Erin!

I am only half through so far and have to say I can SO appreciate you dealing with a puppy while doing anything. I’m fostering three kittens right now and feel the same way frequently! 😂❤😂

For many years I've had a "weed" popping up everywhere that I assumed must have hitchhiked on a purchased plant. Then, (dramatic emphasis), I noticed lots of beautiful sulphur butterflies for the first time in my garden this fall. I researched to find that Partridge Pea is a host for the cloudless sulphur butterfly. Gah! So now, the Partridge Pea stays obviously, because I absolutely adore those sulphur butterflies. And will likely have more Partridge Pea than I know what to do with.

Awesome job on the fund raising! So sad to see all the devastation. Love the new fluff ball Magnus! Enjoy all those puppy snuggles and the mischief and the zoomies! Do you spray everything in your garden for deer? Or do you have a list or video about which plants the deer leave alone and don’t need spraying?

Can't remember if I told you that the hardy Begonia has done well for me. So well that I had to move it to a spot where it could spread more. It's great in a location where it gets backlit because of the gorgeous leaves. We have two old Russian Cypresses (20 years ) and they are huge so you should leave a lot more space between the group you have which looks like three plants right near each other. Have never had any pests or critters touch it but we don't have deer.

A prostate aster? I think I would place that one in my backyard, just for privacy's sake! 😂

I live in a climate very similar to yours, in fact almost directly across the pond from you, anyway I moved all of my houseplants in the house today because you just NEVER know when the arctic winds will blow south from Canada. 🌺💚🙃 PS VERY breezy here today. 🌺💚🙃

My dahlias that survived the winter, especially Teddy and City Lights, have become huge -- Teddy is sprawling about eight feet wide! I am in Zone 7a/6b NY. Dahlia genetics are amazing: my Lollipop (orange red) throws branches of weirdly cream colored flowers.

Love today’s video. Hey try this for your Blue Shag. Sink a couple iron nails in the soil near it. Might to help.

Yea the entire forecast looks like 60-70s and dry for most of October. Had a little rain few days ago but I think that’s it. It’s the dilemma it’s dry but it should go dormant soon so do I water it? 😂

I just heard a local gardening talk about the importance of watering in the fall to keep the plant strong before it goes into dormancy

do you plan on lifting your acidanthera? At 4:25 it was looking so lush and healthy, as if it overwinters in ground.

This year was the first time I attempted to grow Dahlias. I planted the tubers(?) in big pots, waited for the plants to be approx 16 inches tall, trimmed off the middle stem and transported the pots to my son in Brookfield, Wi.and then.......................zip nadda. The plants didn't grow another inch. They didn't die, or wilt or turn brown. They did nothing?

How big of pots did you use? Did you fertilize? Lots of water and sunshine? I had to do mine in pots this year (Grafton, wi) and while they have grown decent (until this wind that tipped most over) they didn’t flower much and needed way more sun. Oh well, fingers crossed I still get some tubers.

@@tinah8065 The pots are, if I remember correctly, 20 in opening at top and 18 in deep. I made the potting soil using compost. They were placed near the swimming pool with plenty of sun. I can’t answer to the watering question as they were not at my house.
