Yea, they wanted to steer away from the Hulk that we know of as much as they could so that it could be aired for television
@ryandevan27932 жыл бұрын
@@deepnthought. Actually it was more for stylistic reasons rather than for rating reasons. According to interviews, Kenneth Johnson, the writer and producer of the series, decided to change the plot for two reason: A). As you previously mentioned, to translate it into a live-action show that was more believable and acceptable to a wide audience. And B). he actually disliked comics and thus felt it best that the show be as different from the source material as possible. Now normally when you have somebody adapt a work of fiction who doesn’t like the source material is a bad thing (I mean look at Exorcist II: The Heretic and see how that turned out!) But thankfully in this case the result was the exact opposite and in fact the series turned out to be pretty fantastic. I think it also helps that the series was produced by Universal who already had a background making sympathetic monsters, as they produced many of the classic monster movies of the 1930s and 1940s, including the famous 1931 film adaptation of Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein, one of the characters that inspired The Hulk in the first place! In fact, if you compare Boris Karloff‘s portrayal of Frankenstein to Lou Ferrigno’s as the Hulk in many of the episodes, you do notice a lot of similarities in the innocence and good nature they show. especially in this clip where the hulk and Ricky are getting to know each other so to speak. In Frankenstein of course, there’s the famous scene where the monster playing with the little girl in the pond which gives you the same feeling. Hell, even Bill Bixby’s portrayal of Dr. David Banner, a man who’s trying to control a monster inside of him, is similar to that of Larry Talbot in The Wolf Man. If The Hulk was made during the Universal Monster era with Lon Chaney Jr. playing Dr Banner and Boris Karloff playing The Hulk, I’m sure it would have been the same thing.

@@ryandevan2793 This Show is clearly a classic Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde Story, wich makes sense cause that's exactly what the incredible Hulk is based on. Now violence is never the answer in some cases with extreme previsionary cautions violence may be an intended solution to get yourself out of harms way to get out of a bad situation gone worse.

The Hulk wasn't bad just confused he was gentle as long as one didn't make him mad. If people weren't hostile towards him than he wasn't. It's like when Frankenstein became friends with a poor old blind man. The blind man understood him and he knew the blind man was his friend. There's a comparison between the Hulk and the kid with special needs mental problems. The real problem is people because at times they're indifferent towards individuals with certain types of disabilities. The Hulk encountered a lot of that while he was on the run. People can be cruel towards what they don't understand.
