it would depend on who's history you are learning about. Most countries teach history based on, you know, their country. The reason most people don't know about Leo Major is because it doesn't relate to their history. I don't expect anyone in Europe, Asia, most of North America, South America, and Australia to know anything about the history of Canada. It's just not relevant to their history.
