My appendix ruptured when I was 4 years old, my Dad rushed me to the hospital and was immediately told by the surgeon that if he had waited 15 more minutes to bring me to hospital, I would have already been dead and as it was, I only had a 50% chance of surviving the surgery. Obviously I did survive, thanks to my dear Dad. Rest In Peace Dad, I love and miss you so very much! 😓

My appendix ruptured when I was 19 years old and can confirm it was AWFUL. I had been feeling generally unwell with a mild fever and fatigue and headaches for a few days, but thought it was just a cold or other virus. It started to progress to almost flu-like symptoms, exhaustion, worse headaches, and what I would describe as muscle aches and pains all over my stomach area, sides, and lower back. I took Tylenol and assumed it would pass on its own. Then one morning, I woke up and was in pretty bad pain specifically in the right side of my lower abdomen area and when I told my parents, my mom assured me it was just a bad period. But this was just SO different and my period had passed a few weeks prior. I went to the ER and the doctor originally suspected a kidney infection or a UTI that was becoming a kidney infection. He soon started pressing on my stomach area and my sides to examine and figure out what was happening. He pressed down pretty firmly on my right lower abdomen, and I SCREAMED and began crying. The pain felt incredibly sudden, sharp, almost a burning or searing pain. They quickly arranged for an ultrasound. My already extremely inflamed appendix had burst inside of me (I assume from the pressure of the examination.) Within 40 minutes, I was started on painkillers, IV antibiotics, and rushed into emergency surgery for them to remove the appendix and clean out my abdomen of all the fluids from the appendix. It was a terrible experience but I’m honestly glad it had burst in the ER and under the immediate care of a doctor and not while I was at work or driving or something. People, listen to your body. Your body does not give you these signals for no reason!

Appendicitis caused me so much pain for days. The issue is, I had no symptoms other than the pain. The common ones are nausea and vomiting, fevers, and just general malaise. Didn’t get any of it. Just the pain. After days I knew I had to go to the hospital, where they confirmed that I did in fact have appendicitis. I was 15 at the time, and my local hospital didn’t have a pediatric surgery unit, so I had to be transferred and wait overnight for surgery. The pain was UNBELIEVABLE. After the surgery, I was not properly cleaned out and had to go back to the hospital with a 106° fever after discharge. Absolutely miserable

I have extreme pain almost constantly. Having TMJ (a jaw issue that can lead to head pain, jaw joint pain and locking, ear aches, and finger aches (at least for me)), IBS (irritable bowl Syndrome) which happens in both constipation and diaherria for me, and painful period cramps that make you cry in pain (and I have PCOS, didn't have a period for three years and got hit with a 2 week one with heavy flow this year) :') I can handle it a bit more if they hit at seperate times, but sometimes I get hit with all three if I'm off my meds which is often because I have to see a doctor for more of some. Muscle relaxers lead to periods, can't really control my diet currently so I eat trigger foods a lot which makes my stomach hurt often. It can't compare to these others things, but it's the most painful stuff I've been experiencing.

I have TMJ and IBS too. In fact, I also have peptic ulcer disease due to the pain meds I was prescribed for a long time after breaking my back. If I'm not careful, ulcers start bleeding. Then I get constipation, followed by diarrhea, then I end up vomiting bile for several days. All the while, I'm not even able to hold down water. That usually happens a couple times a month. I was also diagnosed with diverticulitis, gastritis, and colitis. I'm so sorry to hear about all the issues you're dealing with. Maybe one day medicine will catch up and they'll actually be able to cure what makes us miserable.

I had an infection of the gall bladder, having previously had 10 yrs of sudden attacks of excruciating pain that would last between 3 and 8 hrs. I never knew what was causing this pain and it usually occured at night. I was at work one day and suddenly went absolutely freezing cold throughout my whole body, with my teeth chattering nonstop. Paramedics knew this was a sign of infection. Was in hospital for 10 days as my gallbladder was full of infection. I was so ill they removed my gallbladder. Turns out all those sudden bouts of pain was when i had eaten a lot of fat on those days. No pain since they removed my gallbladder (which was full of gallstones, hence the pain and eventual infection). What a relief!!

I’ve had a frozen shoulder. I had to do the painful stretching and it took four years to get better and six to be completely better. I need to add to this that the most painful part only lasted a few months and after that it did start getting better but it was about five years before I got full functionally back. I’m completely fine now so there is hope. It just takes time 🙂

When I was younger in the ER, my mom met another mom who was there with her little girl. Her little girl was screaming she was in so much pain, from a mass sickle cell die-off like you mention in this video. She was 10 years old, and she was given -- wait for it -- 75 milligrams on Dilaudid before the pain subsided. A "normal" does is between .5 mg and 2 mg. I deal with bowel obstructions more often than most because of the bowel surgeries I've had as a child, and I refuse to be given more than 1 mg of that stuff because more than that will make me hallucinate. I can not imagine the pain Sickle Cell patients have to endure!!!

I have had juvenile arthritis from my earliest memory to even now sometimes, 23 years. It's horrible at times. When I was little I was terrified of rain or storms or really anything that changed it from sunny because my legs and arms would hurt to the point I could not move and I'd have to be carried to the bathroom to be put in a tub of the hottest water I could stand. I remember sitting hours in the tub because it was my only relief of pain. I had tried heating pads, meds, you name it I had tried it. I couldn't hardly do anything. I finally got to the point where I started to grow out of it and now it's mainly just when a major cold or warm front moves through. I still go get in the bathtub to relief pain but it's not as horrible as it used to be.

I can tell you personally, the “power washing” your insides after having your appendix burst is, there is no other word but excruciating. It was worse than the pain from the inflamed appendix, which admittedly was still horrible. But I ended up at a hospital that took hours to decide that my appendix needed to come out- so it of course burst before they got to it. Then, after thinking the hard part was over, I had to have my fresh foot long incision (that was trying to close up & heal) literally ripped open everyday so they could sponge out inside my abdomen with iodine.... I actually became despondent and nearly suicidal knowing I had to go through it all over again the next day. And the next.... in other words- I would suggest not letting that happen to yourself, you know if you can possibly help it

I've had sciatica due to a herniated disk. It comes & goes at least once a year, but when it does, it's an absolute pain. I also had my appendix rupture when I was 13. Felt so awful, went to the ER only for the so called "doctor" to tell my mom & I that it was "food poisoning" mind you, I'm not one that cries for pain, but I was in tears that night. He refused to do anything else, so we had to go home. Appendix ruptured that night around 4am. Around 4ish pm, 12hrs later I remember waking up with a really bad fever, pain so bad that I couldn't even stand, sit or walk. It was over 12hrs since it had rupture & the surgeons (my family told me) had to talk extensively whether to perform surgery right there & then, or wait a few hours/days - cos my body already had too much poison from the rupture. Very long story short, all the surgeons, docs, & nurses told my family that there was a 90-95% chance I wouldn't make it & to just be ready... They all acknowledged the miracle. And here I am today, about to celebrate my birthday next week, & I thank God first & foremost & that amazing surgeon that I'll never forget. 🙏🏻 I was in the hospital & house rest for a little over two months, but man, the pain was unbearable. I'd rather the sciatica pain 5xs more, than to feel a ruptured appendix again.

Drowning is one I died when I was 7 or 8 I was dead for 7 minutes but I remember hearing myself scream for help and I could hear everyone around me but they couldn’t hear me. Then darkness, the type that you wanna walk up but your at peace. I remember how amazing it was to be within the dark idk why but it seemed to be guiding me.

I don't know why, but i got appendicitis when i was 11. At first, i stomach feels hurt and went to toilet many times in one night, next i experienced throw ups, after a week or something, when i was outside eating dinner with my uncle and aunties, my stomach hurts once again, and it is hurtful. My parents immediately brought me to a nearby hospital and saw the doctor, the doctor said that i needed to rest in the hospital for about one week. Nearly the end of the week i was sent to the operation room, finally the operation succeed and i went home and rest for one week. It's one of the most painful memories of my childhood. I glad that i can quickly recover after two weeks. Honestly i didn't know that appendicitis is that deadly. Im so lucky at that time.

My appendix burst when I was on a cruise ship. Excruciating doesn’t even begin to describe it. This was 19 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. I had the stomach pains at first and the “doctor” on the ship said that it was an ear infection and said rest would do the trick. The next day I woke up and started vomiting like never before. I eventually was puking pure bile and it ruined my throat and mouth. I couldn’t walk and I could barely think I was is so much agony. I was constantly just yelling and screaming until I passed out again. Thankfully my aunt was also a doctor and convinced the crew to let her talk to the captain. I guess they got to shore in time and took me straight to the hospital. I woke up when they were doing the ultrasound where they had to PUSH on my stomach and that was the pain I remember the most. Pure rage. There’s no adjectives to describe that pain. Luckily I had a great team of surgeons and they got all the exploded pieces out and everything inside of it. Very lucky to be alive. 1/10, would not recommend.

Sciatica....just had a 5 week battle with that. The pain....running down my leg.....was absolutely incredible. I had every tooth in my head pulled with nothing but novocaine. Needless to say, that was an extremely rough experience. But, no doubt, I'd do it over 20xs before a 2nd round with my most recent battle with sciatica. Literally the most pain I have ever felt in my 47 years of life.

had my appendix rupture a couple weeks ago and the pain was horrible. feels like a sharp burning pain on the right side of your stomach. every movement i made hurt. everything. got released from the hospital after about 5 days and had to go back in because i couldn’t keep food down, had a fever, and kept throwing up. they never even figured out what was wrong but my best guess is that my drain had a clog in it and the abscess from my appendix was spreading around ny stomach. i got discharged and was forced to go in again since some of the abscess had made its way into my right lung and given me a pneumonia type feeling. could only take about 1/4 of a breath. crazy experience

I have PCOS and sometimes it literally feels like my organs are exploding inside of me. The pain is so bad I swear, get a fever, nearly throw up, can’t move, and struggle breathing. I’m constantly afraid I have appendicitis but it’s usually just cysts on my ovaries.
