Hello Belinda, just wondering how long it took you to dissolve/melt the SCI? I'm working with this ingredient myself and it drives me almost crazy how long it takes. I'm working with fine powder, so I can't really tell if it's properly dissolved or just dispersed. So just to compare, was it over half an hour to an hour? Thank you! :)

Depending on how much you have in the formula, especially compared to how much water, it would typically take 15 minutes or so. If you don’t have much water or any water present, it could take longer than 15 minutes. It does take a little time, keep the heat steady and stir, and wait!

SCI is very mild; SCS is not. If you want 'all natural' then you can't use SCI because there is a synthetic portion present. But if you want high performance and mildness and don't want to claim 'all natural' then using a combination of both is the best.

Hi Belinda and all the team, I am making a research and thinking of attending the workshop that you are offering about the waterless products, it's just I have a question, can we add some actives to this type of products? Is it possible to "manipulate" these products like cold processed soap so we can make different designs? In other words can we make the shampoo "batter" more liquid so we have enough time to make a design like swirl or something, I just need an answer if possible so that I know whether or not I should dig more in this market because I want to start a skincare brand, sorry for the long message and thank you for your time

@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Brittany, surfactants are made using derivatives of coconut or palm oil, so it is going to be very difficult to avoid. Even natural castille shampoos, which are very high pH, often mostly use coconut oil. I am not aware of a coconut allergy you may have to speak with a dermatologist about this.
@amsoapssustainableproducts2912
@amsoapssustainableproducts2912 4 жыл бұрын
Coconut allergy is very common. People also develop coconut oil sensitivity because it is in too many products. Castille means 100% olive oil. My father has cancer and can't use these detergents that many people are putting in solid shampoo. He uses a true Castille soap that I make for him with no colour and no fragrance. Note: SCI is tested on animals which are killed after testing to produce their SDS sheet. I won't purchase SCI. We all rinse with water after washing leaving your skin and hair with a pH of 7 , saponified products are what my family and I will stick with.
