Great show ! Take away colors during bypass ! This should be standard in the industry of plugin reviews !

I really had to laugh when you threw in the Steamdriver VST. I didn't realize that Mixland made this plugin too. That's ridiculousness just can't be surpassed. So funny, thanks a lot!

i actually really like the crunch on the steam driver.

I should make a sign outside my studio saying: "if you think auto-gain is not needed then please leave, I can't respect that, I'm sorry".

Hey Wytse! I was curious about your process when reviewing plugins/recording yourself through the mic while the speakers are on, do you go in manually afterwards to delete the bleed in the microphone? How do you manage this without it phasing too much when combining the mic and computer audio? Thank you
@Whiteseastudio Жыл бұрын
We do manual automation. Also, I have foam padding on my desk while recording, to minimise reflections from for instance the speakers. Lastly, we make sure that the mic audio is phase-synced to the speakers, so that whenever the mic channel opens, the coloration is reduced to an absolute minimum.

I haven't heard this one from DaRude before ... it's pretty cool .. kind of reminds me of something .. I can't think what tho.

Good review once again. Reaper does have a oversampling feature, application on entire signal chains or single plugins. And then there the one plugin we all know... I wonder how many of those plugins keep of their "analog saturation" character, when aliasing is reduced
@fcmas Жыл бұрын
Aliasing isn't "character," it's the misrepresentation of sampling information....and ddmf makes both plugindoctor (what he's using) and metaplugin (what you're referring to). Not sure why saying "metaplugin" would be taboo, given he definitely uses the company's products

Sounds pretty good to me......but, I can achieve the same with a trio of numerous options I already have. So, the perk it that it's a one stop shop?. Is the CPU load less than using several plugs to do the same job??. I'm wondering if the stated eq points are not accurate, it's a glitch that Mixland will correct in an update??. $50 seems very fair. Why not give it a try 💁♂

I would love to see what you think about Chop Shop eq by Louder than Liftoff. Interface is a bit unusual at first, but lets me dial in desired sounds really quick, especially on distorted guitars.

@@AdamZiokowski666 the availability of the hardware wouldn't make this plugin any more or less appealing. Just stating why the plugin looks the way it does, which is because it replicating the design of the hardware

You use REAPER, I know you know you can test with oversampling, Wytse. ;)

These plugin videos on this channel are not 'Reviews', they're simply 'Reaction' videos. Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting the channel down; the reactions are amusing and entertaining but without any previous experience with the subject product, it's not a review

It's so damn annoying when the values on the knobs do not accurately depict what's happening for real. The developers brush it off as "analog like" and to "use your ears". No, stop being lazy and get with the times...
