Thanks for the tour. I love this Thai style/Thai way of doing things as expressed here in this hotel. The earth tones and liberal use of natural materials, fabrics and finishes just make the experience so inviting and restful to the mind - a sense of quietude. It's the sense that the space should not be oppressive to the mind, but rather remove the barriers that prevent us from merging with nature. Having said all that, then one cannot help be also think of the blaring, head-warping loudspeakers and music on display at the various functions and festivals. Ha, ha.

Well said Scott. Wish that I could express myself as good as you have here. I don't understand the volume thing. It's almost as if once you buy a sound system, because it has the capacity for that top volume, let's get full value for our money and use it all 😄

This is a very nice looking hotel. We always fly into Udon Thani airport to visit our family in Kalasin. In April 2016 we stayed at the Centara hotel in Udon Thani payed 3,500 baht for a suite. The room was big but dated the curtains had holes in them. This hotel rooms look much better.

We have stayed at the Centara and I agree. It needs some money spending on it.

Thanks for sharing! I really like this rustic style with the reclaimed wood. It give the place a character and set it apart from other hotels with hospital style interior. I will mark this on my Google maps for sure. It's a lot to like about the hotel even if it's not cheap.

I have stayed there 4 or 5 times at rates 800 to 1200 baht for the basic room. My favorite place if I have a car. Best pool, nice decor. Best way to go is buy room without breakfast and go to the Centura for the 295 baht spectacular breakfast. The Brown House breakfast is ok.

So if you get a little discount say £30 a night for the first room. Cheap. Compare that to anything similar anywhere else. Notice the sign in the lift. No durians! 2,000 baht fine. Durian is nuts. A durian wafer in my workplace caused reports of a gas leak, and the guys could actually detect it with the hand-held device.

@@TheIsaanFarang Doesn't taste of much. It's uncanny. It doesn't get you at the back of the throat. But a Malaysian wafer - a wafer! - with 2.5% durian, can clear a room.

I was bimbling along that road - beyond the Brown House towards the less affluent bit nearer the railway - and there was a woman collecting greens from the side. To make conversation I pointed around the jungle and said, "Kho dai noo-ah?" making the sign for a cobra. She burst out laughing and nodded, "Chai, chai". I'm a bit of a big girl's blouse when it comes to reptiles.

Perfectly entitled to be whatever you want when there could be a cobra involved Craig.

@@TheIsaanFarang It's not a realistic fear most of the time. But two in my pals garden behind the Santipran Place, meant that I would have a look around the balcony on my ground floor before sliding the patio doors open! They just give me the creeps.

@craigross3414 жыл бұрын
@@TheIsaanFarang I'm in the UK. Lockdown. I'm a college teacher, and the students have fallen apart, after nearly two months of trying to learn through Google Drive, Zoom, email and working on their own. I watch these videos on Udon because I can't reconcile just how easy it is to live there by any objective metric, and just how impossible I find it to do it!! It just doesn't compute. I thought "JC" was trying to con people. So when I first went to Thailand in 2014 I couldn't get my head around the 3,500B a month apartments, 213B train from Bangkok to Nong Khai, general air of calm and civility. I've been in supposedly cheap countries where it's just hell: Morocco being a case in point. Thailand's incredibly easy at this price point. But can I chill out? Can I hell!
@TheIsaanFarang4 жыл бұрын
@@craigross341 Next time you are over Craig I would really like to have a coffee (decaff for you) and a chat as I find your comments fascinating but difficult for me to convey questions and points on here. If you can't chill here, how can you possibly chill in the UK. Do you think you need the stress and hardship that you probably have there as opposed to the easy existence here in Thailand. I know that if things are too easy in our lives, that in itself can cause anxiety as we are constantly looking/waiting for something to go wrong while asking ourselves, life cannot be this easy, can it? I know hate is a strong word but I literally hate what the UK and a large proportion of British people have become. Just yesterday, I was speaking with Pook about how since being here I've not experienced one moment of stress. Back in the UK, within 10 minutes of leaving the house to drive into London, I would have someone cutting me up or gesturing at their displeasure of something that I had supposedly done to annoy them. No problem with the easy life for me.
