I accidentally created my favorite sculpture so far 🤷‍♀️
•••
This originally started as a test print for the larger ball shooting sculpture I’ve been working on. I wanted to test the method for mounting the tracks to the wall.
•••
That simple task morphed quickly and became this kinetic sculpture, which might be my favourite thing I’ve created so far! Something about the combination of a little ball action mixed in with some chaos and unpredictability just works for me.

Idea: attach a clock component to the center with hands in front of the thing. Then make your machine the alarm clock thing. When the arm hits on the bottom, make that stop acoustically interesting or the ball have a bell or something to make it more alarm-like. No idea how you do this, but it would be sweet.

Hook it up to an Arduino as the switch. You can have it so it acts as a clock, flipping on the hour(1x for 1o’clock, 2x for 2o’clock, etc.) You can also have a basic switch for on demand flips you can even be fancy: While(switch flipped) {do 1 flip} That way it stays “in line” with the same resting position.
