I, as a 30- something year old man who plays Pokémon would love to watch another 30- something do the same. KZbin has changed a lot and I do think longevity on the platform is more attainable than ever. If you don't want to continue it's more than understandable. Here's to you John, may life bring you all you want and more.

Here to say this as well, as another 30-something year old. As long as your passion shows, you'll get your audience. Honestly enjoy it and, as long as you enjoy it and you can cover the necessities, dont worry too much. I've been in your shoes but instead of youtube just not knowing what to do. Do i regret making the decisions i did? Nah, just regret the time it took me to take the jump!! My motto these days is, wnjoy each day as they come, cause tomorrow is never a garuntee!

Exactly the same here. I just had the first Pokemon batlle against my son the other day and seeing how much he starts to love Pokemon, I don't think I will stop playing Pokemon anytime soon. I'm here since gen 1 and I currently have more fun than ever with it and that includes watching other people play. Just recently, one of my favourite content creators celebrated their 15th content creator birthday. He's almost 40 now and his community is still growing, still going strong. And that's not despite him doing this for so long or despite him being a middle aged man, but because of it. It's great to watch someone as old as yourself with the same child like glee for amazing video games.

You want to do it now. That's the most important thing. It's a great first step to recognise its significance. Next step is throwing away the idea that you need to plan where you'll be when you're 50 or 60 because ultimately it's barely in your control. This ain't free advice baby, I got this in therapy last year. It's all short term and mid term plans for this guy. THAT'S the balance I'd been searching for my entire life.

John, I can honestly say from my perspective, that you have absolutely made your mark in Pokemon history. As someone who played the original Red & Blue games when they came out (another 30-something here), and got back into it around Sword & Shield, some of the most fun I've ever had consuming Pokemon content was tuning in for the Kanto, Johto and especially Hoenn shiny hunting challenges on live stream (and watching the Kanto and Johto final edits; can't wait for Hoenn!). These events are absolutely etched into Pokemon KZbin lore and will be forever, and you organized these events. Ultimately, the decision is yours, but you definitely still have "it," and always will when it comes to content creation.

Many good internet energies and internet hugs. "Do people want to watch a 30-year-old guy play Pokemon? IDK!" - I don't speak for everyone, but I would. I don't get to enjoy playing Pokemon so I vicariously live through creators. Your message is clear though. Whenever you decide you don't want to create videos anymore, I will continue to enjoy your old content. I wouldn't have found your channel without a recommendation from a friend and I am so glad he shared; he almost didn't because I don't play Pokemon (doesn't mean I don't like it!!!!). I am looking forward to your next Shiny video, and your future content. :3 And when I finally play Pokemon I will be sure to share all the shinies I have acquired with my luck from PM7.

It is true that having a KZbin as a career can be a bit of a gamble. I myself tried to be a KZbinr only to meet with harsh reality and the lack of knowledge or ideas to even attempt to pursue it. Not only do you have those things, but I can tell you have at least some enjoyment in the videos you make. Even if you decide not to continue with KZbin anymore, don’t ever sell yourself short. It’s not just the Pokemon contact we come to see, we come to see the man who makes it, how he reacts, and how he impacts others whether it be from knowledge to entertainment. Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing”. Even if you want to switch careers, maybe you want to just do this as a fun thing. But in the end, the choice remains yours. No matter your decision, you have entertained us for many years, so now we come to support you and your decision. Stay well, and here’s to your soon to be 1 million subscribers.

First, I gotta say my sincerest condolences to your uncle. I get the gist that you truly had a great relationship with your uncle. Over the past few years, I've experienced so many losses, including my dad, that I understand the sobering awareness of where you're going. That being said, I can genuinely say that discovering your videos through MAndJTV [whom I also discovered at about the same time] has really made some dark times pretty palatable & with your latest effort in Play More [featuring the Beneral!] has become must see viewing for this guy! You've become one of my favorite creators on the level of "Babe, wake up; a new PM7 thing dropped!" Currently 37 & got back into gaming during the pandemic because I enjoy it & I got tired of pretending to be what I'm "supposed" to be. Whatever you decide to do, I'll be behind you. You're doing amazing, but should you ever decide to call it good, I truly appreciate the laughs & the comfort you've given. Thanks, John. 🐸

You have a passion that is evident in basically every video you make. And you clearly have a heart the size of the moon. You're a great dude, John. I'm sure I speak for so, so many people. I'm glad that I've found you in my time on here. I'm 32 and still enjoy Pokemon games as much as I did all those years ago with Pokemon Yellow. Your content brings me great joy, and I'll admit I'm a tad jealous you get to make it your job! But, also damn proud you've fought to get here. I lost a family member quite recently too, and I've had similar thoughts about the future. They creep in. But I know you'll give it the time and place those thoughts deserve and make the choice that's correct for you and your wife. Never a doubt. But, as long as you continue to make content, I will be there to thoroughly enjoy it.

I think eventually the nostalgia for your original, KZbin videos will make their way back, and you could redo some with some new retrospective.

I'm sorry about your uncle, but I'm glad to hear how supportive he was to you and how much of a positive impact he had on your life. As others have said, I'll be here as long as you want to keep making videos. John, I have watched you for years now, and have always felt like you have got a good head on your shoulders. I'm sorry to hear about your uncle's passing. He seemed like a good guy and this world will not be the same without him. That's the thing about life. We only have so much time and we never know when it's time to go or if we'll even be able to do everything we want to do in life. My advice to you is not only to take each day one at a time, but to do your best to make each day better and more fulfilling than the last one. Life is short, but you know better than anyone that we've all got our own life to live. And you are one of the lucky one's who gets to do youtube and stream and make it your life's work. Also you can retire and fade away and live your life however you like. It's all up to you ultimately. But the feeling you have that you feel like you want to keep going? That's a passion for greatness. That feeling that you can do better? That's motivation for success. You do what makes you happy. And no matter what someone out there is going to love you for it. That's the one thing you don't need to worry about. Wether it's pokemon or any other game or topic you want to cover, you'll find an audience because let's keep it real, you are a person that is interesting and has a way about showing how much you know and are passionate about something. Good luck in the future and no matter what, just do good things and be happy no matter what. It'll make your Uncle proud.

This is a very human way to feel and I appreciate the relatability as a 26 year-old who still feels like he is failing to start a solid career and is obsessed with figuring out his future it’s comforting to not feel alone in that

Hey John, as someone who has watched you for the last decade.. I think I started watching in 2012, this conversation used to come up a lot and not in a bad way but you always remain transparent with us when the big things come up. The career choices and the parts of this job that affect us. I just want to say thank you for always including us, and no matter how long you decide to do this we will always have your back and wish you nothing but happiness in everything you do. You are an incredible content creator, person and the way you speak about your loved ones just speaks to the character of person you are as well. I recently lost my father and the words you spoke in this video really resonated with me, and I appreciate you more and more as you grow and inspire as a human being. Thank you to you and your team for all the work you do.

When I think of this, I think back to the Pat McAfee podcast when he talked about when he felt it was time to leave his dream job in the NFL. His biggest thing was he lost his passion for the game and looked at training camp as a burden. He also started doing his stand up routines and was getting more enjoyment from that. That was when he started to look to life after the NFL. I feel that as long as you have the passion, keep doing it. The future isn't a bad thing to think about, but I would say go until your passion dies.

You described him so perfectly, and I can assure you that he truly, truly was so proud of you. He lived every day with no regrets and I'm grateful for the big, amazing life we got to have together. He lives on forever in all of us. Love you

First, I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. Totally understandable that it's given you pause and made you think. I'm a 37-year old man who still consumes dozens of hours of Pokemon youtube a week. Take it from me, as long as you enjoy what you do, and as long as it's meeting your needs, do not let age and what 'someone your age' should or shouldn't be doing. Remember the good things, the things you've earned and the accomplishments you absolutely deserve. Do what you want to do for as long as you want to do it and can do it because that's a blessing and something to be cherished. Always appreciate hearing your insights. Thanks for sharing these thoughts with your long-time viewers. I've been watching for about 7 years and I'm so proud of your success and looking forward to what you have cooking for us in the future!

All I'll say is don't let age define what you do. Do what you enjoy. It only feels like your content is improving. When I first saw you I'd watch, but I'd rarely rewatch. These days I rewatch several times. If that's not consistent improvement I don't know what is.

Hi John. If it makes you feel better, I am (also) a 29 year-old female that is an avid viewer of your channel and other Pokemon content. First of all, I want to say I am so sorry for your loss. I’ve lost three grandparents since I was 24/25 and it’s so hard to lose people that have been a part of your life for so long (and yours was so sudden, so that’s a wholly different kind of pain). It sounds like you’re going through your quarter-life crisis right now, as I’ve also gone through mine between 25 and now 29. I think your career is completely up to you, your passions, and your dedication- and if you feel like you have more to give, work on that! If not, you can take a hiatus to figure out what else you want to do in life. But uncertainty seems to be weighing on your mind right now, as it is on mine right now. I just got married recently and we are heading home from our honeymoon. And I have to say…it gave me such a new perspective on life and how I want to steer my future. If you don’t have happiness and drive towards your career, that’s when a change is needed, and that’s alright! Nothing to be ashamed of. The people and fans who truly support you will be there for you through the ups and downs. It’s really up to you about how you want your future to go- and imo as a KZbinr, you have more freedom now than most in what career you choose and what content you showcase. (Btw, I am 5 out of 6 years into my PhD, working towards a career in science that I will hopefully be doing for the rest of my life, and you’re ever questioning the role of your presence in life and society…I question mine every goddamn day. I wonder if what I’m doing is important, or if it’s a waste of time. It does make me feel better to see that we all deal with these doubts no matter in what field we work in)

Hi John I have no idea if you'll see this but I want to say thank you for the content you have put out so far and I look forward to your content that you'll put out, for however long you choose to do it for. I'm quite a bit older than you, I only got into Pokémon content really because my daughter watched it on KZbin once she got the games and it was her that found your channel. We've loved what you've been able to create and love watching it together. Speaking personally I found my 30s have been the best and biggest challenges of my life. I had both my children in my 30s and seeing them grow up have been the best time of my life. While you may not know if you're at the tail end of your KZbin career, you have your best years in your life you come with your friends and family and all the people who mean the most to you. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your uncle, he sounds like an incredible man and I'm sure will be missed.

Man, I get feeling like you have wasted a lot of time. I'm almost 40 suddenly and phew there's a lot of things I'd wish had gone differently and wish I even had the energy to do differently now. But all you can do is the best you can at any time. I am sure you can manage to figure stuff out to keep it going as long as you want. Good luck in knowing when that actually is. Best wishes

Hearing you say that you turn 29 this year really makes me feel like I haven’t done as much as I’ve wanted to in my life. You are this amazing person who has spread so much joy and fun throughout the pokémon community and beyond, and I’m here sitting on my bed, working a 9-5, about to be 30. But regardless of all of that, you always make me smile. Have faith that no matter what happens, we, the community you built, will always be here for you and will always support you.
