Paul Weller was the first person to inspire me. Living in Northern Ireland during the troubles and unemployed and I heard this sound on Top of the Pops. I then ate, slept and drank The Jam and Weller. I then met him many years later in Heathrow Airport. He just sat down beside me and he had a few drinks. I had this fantastically friendly conversation with him. He asked me to come and see him the next night in Belfast. I look back now and think not only was he my teenage idol but a fantastic guy. His music just gets better also. Still my hero.

I love this artist for how much he has given to music for more than forty years. I have always considered him an innovator, a precursor, a protester and a disenchanted commentator of the social and political reality in which we live. I've always considered him a real punk. That's a surprise and a disappointment re: Ukraine. Mr. Weller never had a high profile career in the USA. Too bad. He is fabulous!

Yes, buddy. I'm from Newfoundland, Canada and nothing against people who are hardcore fans of the same fad that was played over and over, but I felt really deprived when it came to the local stations only playing the major top bands from Canada, U.S., U.K. I love many bands from the 80's, but again, our stations deprived us from other amazing artists from the 80's. I ended up stumbling upon the best ones by chance. I consider Weller my top Favorite artist for the past few years now, and the majority of my top favorite bands hardly had a song played on the radio. lol

Is he standing in a way of a new band? He's split 2 of his old bands, and has had the greatest period of solo success in 90's, but now he's still got that write new music /release a record once a year routine as his dayjob to his own and fans' amusement and for the sake of musically challenging himself, and thus happen to have a solid following build throughout decades. That's pretty much earned with a lot of hard work and determined career building - not quite by taking the limelight away from any youth band with an old resumé. That honour goes to the likes of Stones and the Who (which I still like don't get my wrong but aren't moving much forward anymore.)
