A median of the stories: A queen gives birth and dies in childbirth, the baby is born still born but awakes (a rare occurrence but an occurrence indeed), giving rise to tales about the princess. The father has no other children so she’s isolated and doesn’t know how to interact. Perv king marries a young lady who heard the stories about his daughter and, like in some other stories/movies/real life, she starts perceiving things that aren’t true about the princess. The princess perceives the fear/hatred of new queen and bites her. The king gets a cut and dies of infection. Both blame each other. They start prancing each other until it goes too far, when the queen tells the huntsman to kill Snow White, she knew he wouldn’t off her, but Snow White took it as though she thought the huntsman would kill her. Then they get two kingdoms and troll each other until one of them dies. The end.

With a story like that about Snow White being a vampire, it makes me wonder why the queen didn’t just stab the heart or burn it to kill the princess in the first place.
@badeggontheyoutube14510 ай бұрын
I think it's because ppl did not have knowledge about vampires back then, since they've only became popular around the Victorian era, if I'm not mistaken, and snow white's story takes place in medieval times. the first vampire story ever written, carmilla, it's from 1872 (and it's fun cause there is literally a tutorial on how to kill a vampire there lol). In the beginning of gaiman's story, the queen says she doesn't know what snow white is, probably because of the time period. Like, in this universe, vampires did exist in medieval times but were not known. So her thoughts were probably "ok I know she is a fucked up kid and I don't know what she is how do I kill it". Thanks for listening to my ted talk

One of my favorite renditions of Snow White is a different story which gives great insight into why the Evil Queen did what she did. It was featured in the first book of the Land of Stories (great series totally recommend). Basically, the queen falls in love with this guy but someone (I forgot both of their names) gets jealous and curses the man to live inside an enchanted mirror. The queen is devastated at the loss of her love to the point that she has a witch carve out part of her heart so that she couldn’t feel the pain. She continued to talk to the mirror everyday and he slowly looses his personality and basically become Siri. So when the mirror tells her he thinks Snow White is prettier than she is, it’s like a slap to the face. After all of the events from the original Snow White, the queen is put in prison which she soon escapes with her mirror to try and find a way to free her love. She discovered a magical spell and wishes for her love to be freed, but she is a moment to late as the man has already completely lost himself and he dies in her arms. Seconds later, the building crumbles around her and she dies with him in her arms. Anyway, I really loved the insight that story gave, with her loving the man in the mirror and her not actually having a heart. Hope you enjoyed the story and if you love these videos definitely recommend the land of stories it gives great insight into many different fairy tales😁

Why can't we get this as a movie
@InsaneLaughter013 жыл бұрын
It might have to do with the fact that Snow White was 5-13 yrs old when she was going to ‘pleasure town’. There is also implication from the story that she may have raped her own father as well as he had the bite scars all over his body including his genitals. Oh and a grown man fucking the corpse of a 13 yr old girl back to life would be difficult to be approved for tv. I know HBO was gutsy with game of thrones but I’m pretty sure even they wouldn’t approve of this as a film.

First off - this is AWESOME. Second - this was the smoothest plug and ad I've ever seen. Damn.

The short story actually came first, then he worked with Colleen to do the graphic version of it. She also graphic-novellized his short story "Troll Bridge," with a very different (but completely appropriate) art style.

Can i just say i love this version more than the original? Freaky vampire shit, still kept the queen being a bad ass wit magic, hilarious turns and a shocking ending. I love it. Also Jon, you're the literal 2ND KZbinR I've been following that has a birthday on Oct 31st.....🤨

I always knew there was something iffy about Snow. What kind of nutcase talks to squirrels? 🤨
@jenniferstine85674 жыл бұрын
You'd think the squirrels would eat nutcases. That's not the only weird thing. Animals are washing the dishes by licking them. They use a turtle as a washboard. Since when do turtles live in the woods in Europe? (Wikipedia says there are turtles living in the woods in the US. However we never had a monarchy here.) I've never seen animals so helpful. None of them bother each other, which is really weird given the collection. I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but wishing wells, stars and whatever else really don't work. In the movie she's more than old enough to know this. Especially since if it did work she probably would have had a better life.

There's a similarly dark version of cinderella where she is a witch and worships the devil. See if you can find that @JonSolo

I've known Snow White was a vampire since I read "Red as Blood" by Tanith Lee. A vampire who shares my name :) I'm willing to take as gospel ("good story" or "good telling") anything Neil Gaiman writes. Thank you Jon for sharing these tales with us.
