So i only need to wait 2 weeks to lift the shadowban? I got shadowban september 6... Now sept 12... Can you idenfity what the cause might have been that got you shadowbanned? For instance, some users still have banned videos on their profile that are keeping the shadowban in place. Or, it might be because certian recent videos are using hashtags that are banned on the platform or dealing with controversal content. I'm not sure what the nature of your profile style is, but I would highly suggust you start uploading 1-2 times a day and stay as far away as you can from content that might prove troublesome. Also, refrain from removing any content as well (deleting regular videos).

It comes from a duet so my video got remove because the orig video is remove.. my content is just sitting and showing food or anything and then i explained it in funny way.. i also remove the video that said i got a violation... If you aren’t sure ur shadowbanned u can make ur own hashtag like a hashtag that no one created yet it can be just spam letters and then post it and click the hashtag and if your video isn’t there you ARE shadowbanned

unfortunately my account's shadowban wasn't lifted even after 2 months. because i didn't have a huge amount of community guidelines violations by any means in the 4 months i had my account, i think it was due to activism (lgbt & blm) hashtags. i had over 165k and had to completely start a new account, but at least now i am more aware of what not to do, largely as a result of creators like you who are very informative! 🙏🏻

That’s interesting so less than 75% FYP is shadow ban or less account authority? I don’t see why they wouldn’t just outright ban somebody. They seem to have no problem doing that to people with millions of followers or even verified accounts.

I also noticed that changing links in bio too often affects views negatively. I tested it several times putting a KZbin link in my bio and views decreased liked crazy! I think this is also a factor to consider once I changed or removed the link views got back up after a week

I did a "controversial" video on feminism. A lot of men commented and insulted me in all my social media. I have 5k followers and usually a bad-performing video has at least 300 views in a day. After that video, my new uploads have 30 views in a day. I'm pretty sure a lot of these guys reported my video, but it doesn't violates any rules of tiktok so they couldn't take it down, but it got shadowbaned. Also, I made a video with a sound that only had 19 videos, and mine is not there so I'm pretty sure I have been shadowbanned

I had a video removed for "dangerous acts" because I was doing a show and tell in my car of some antique scissors I had just picked up from restoration. And then when I posted a rant video to complain about it, that got removed for the same thing even though I was literally just speaking into the camera in bed. I contested both removals and they reinstated them pretty quickly but I don't know if that had an effect on my page or not. My videos lately aren't even getting 100 views and prior to that were only getting on average 150-200 no matter what I posted, what sounds, what hashtags. But yet the app continues to show me creators REPEATEDLY that I don't follow and whose videos I have never liked or engaged with. Its frustrating

I have heard that actually using the ability that tiktok gives you, to have more than one account per phone, hurts all accounts because it thinks that you are a business and would treat all of your accounts as accounts that need to purchase ads or paid promotion, therefore taking down the views of all accounts associated with each phone. Ive actually been testing tiktok, and was just curious about getting shadowbanned after I did. Im essentially seeing how long I can last before tiktok flat out bans me for posting content that is of a sexual nature, yet is still on the same level of other accounts who make similar content and are somehow VERIFIED. I blew up through pause challenges specifically, gaining almost 400 followers in the span of about 10 hours, and one of my videos even hittin 10k views within an hour of posting. That video was removed as soon as it hit 10k, and this was after FOUR OTHER SEXUAL CONTENT VIOLATION TAKEDOWNS. And after that 5th i got shadowbanned. Im just so confused how tiktok hasnt even stopped me from posting yet, and why i was punished for creating content thats only as bad as other big sexual accounts.

Hey Josh when I first joined TikTok all my videos was blowing up crazy, my first ever video I didn’t used any hashtag and I had 1 million views then people been reporting soo much they took down my video, so I submitted the appeal and they bring back my video, I was really happy so I carry on posting new videos and they all also were blowing up, then one day I just open TikTok and my account was “permanently banned” so I made a new one using the same phone and posted the same video that had 1 million views, they took it down in literally 3 seconds after I posted, so I send the appeal and they bring my video back again, but after that I only got 177k view nowhere close to the 1Million I had before, so I carry on creating new contents and every video I was posting I was everytime having last and last views the last video to get more views was on 6/12/2020 it got 43,3k and after that my videos only get around 200,300 views, it doesn’t make any sense, only 300 views this is crazy, I guess I been shadowbanned after that day but it’s passed more than 5 weeks and still like that only 300 views I don’t know what else to do

Thank you as always Joseph for such valuable information! I am not shadow banned but ALL my videos were hitting the FY page like a week ago, no matter what I uploaded, every single one of them did. Now, after gaining plus 20k followers in 4 days, my vide are getting below 500 views :( even though its even better content and more detailed than the ones that were hitting the FY page before which were extremely silly and bad recorded.
