unfortunately I am not able to receive on the tongue everyday because I feel pressured to receive communion with a purificator some days by my superior... pls pray for me so I can go back to receiving on the tongue only again...

Tips for receiving communion on the tongue: • Head up • Eyes closed • Mouth open wide • Tongue laying on bottom lip (not floating like a snake) • Hands down out of the way • Wait for the Lord to come to you • Hold your breath • Slowly bring the host into your mouth

What can we..the lay people of the church..do to be heard? I believe that if the church polled its parishioners...it would clearly show that most people would want to go back to receiving our Lord..on the tongue..and without any thought..on our knees! I have no idea how the church ever approved of receiving while standing! I don't think Pope Francis would want to hear it..let alone do it! He clearly has issue with "traditional Catholics"..though I believe most want to be traditional..without having to be a "traddy!"

@@rosiegirl2485 At my parish 3 years ago, I was one of I think 2 people who received on the tongue while kneeling without a kneeler. Now we are getting 4 long kneelers that look like an altar rail. My best advice is to just do it. Promote it charitably, without a down the nose attitude. Talk to the pastor and explain why you are doing it, not to justify to him but to explain the reverence you have that has been opened up by submitting to God in this way. If he doesn't respect that, maybe it is time to find a new parish. The fight is in the parish, we can't always appeal to Rome and we are a Church that acts on subsidiarity. I hope this helps.

The church teaches that every particle is the body, blood, soul & divinity of Jesus Christ. It either is, or it isn't. Jesus himself when he was here on earth told us this & I choose to believe that it is. Those who receive without discerning the true presence, eat & drink condemnation upon themselves, it's scriptural. Reverence is essential!

In my country due to covid we are only allowed to receive on the hand :( I did it a few times, but I can't do it anymore, I do the spiritual communion and hope and wait for the day receving on the tongue comes back Edit: I spoke with my priest, we advised me to receive on the hand since I can't receive on the tongue. He said it's better to receive on the hand than to not receive

How can you stand not receiving Him? Is there no way for you to receive Him on the hand reverently?

@@sandraelder1101 it's not easy, it's sad not being able to be close to Him. When I received Him on the hand I tried to do it the most respectful way. But still something inside keeps telling me it's not the way.

@@anubispt6002 My thinking is, since the Church Christ founded and gave His authority to allows it under certain circumstances and even Aquinas agreed, I will do it if receiving on the tongue is not allowed. However, I want to minimize handling. So, I have been forming my hands into a sort of paten (one on the other). Then I bend my head down and receive Our Lord directly from my hand with my tongue. It seems to me the closest I can come right now to receiving directly on the tongue, and, since I’m not picking Him up with my fingers, there’s no risk of dropping.

In our diocese they still don't let us take the holy Eucharist on the tongue. Therefore I often attend the traditional Latin mass

There is a greater possibility of the Consecrated Host falling to the floor when receiving in the hand.

Only because people step aside or walk off and pick Him up with their fingers. If people would receive Him directly off their hands with their tongues there’s be no risk. We would need to be completely retaught - starting with why we need to be so careful and reverent and Who the Eucharist is. Time to say goodbye to the finger method! I agree that on the tongue is best but the Church has recognized a need for a plan B for certain circumstances. I have been thankful for the option to receive on the hand when I’ve had a cold and most especially during this pandemic. I wouldn’t have been able to abstain this whole time.

This reminds me of my days as an alter server when we would use a paten to prevent any Host from falling to the floor. I haven't seen alter servers use them in years, and sadly we have also not had alter servers in quite some time

And how do you clean your hands afterwards? If any particle remains in the hand it's still the body blood soul and divinity of our Lord.

@@gerardos256 I hold my hand carefully until back in my pew then examine it closely. Only once I thought I saw what may have been a tiny particle. I received It with my tongue as well. I can only speak for myself, but, I’m not willing to live without the Eucharist. I need Him too much. By receiving Him on my hand with my tongue, I’m not disobeying any Church rule, and I’m being extremely reverent & careful. If others choose to abstain in protest or out of a heightened sense of reverence, they may do so, of course, as long as they receive Him once a year. That’s more of a sacrifice than I’m able to make. The bottom line is that I’m simply too weak to do without Him while waiting for a pandemic to end.

@@sandraelder1101 Sandra, I think what you are doing is wonderful! I wish the Church would return to us receiving on our knees, and on our tongue! This could be done at the Novus Ordo and at the Extraordinary Form! I think when they made the change with the new mass..that they went too far! I also agree with you about needing to receive our Lord in the Eucharist! I am not willing to play politics with such an intimate moment with my God! May God bless you for your humility and reverence before, during, and after receiving Him! 💠

Not exactly. According to a mystic, the holy angels collect these particles but why rely entirely on the angels when we can prevent this from happening. We don't use hands to receive communion simply because of the particles so small to the naked eye(even with eye lenses). People still forget about the particles and sometimes i see them rub hands on their side and priest should announce it beforehand that sacristan collects it.

At the last supper I am pretty sure that Jesus just gave the apostles the bread in their hands and not on their tongues. We should do the same by receiving on the hand. God the Father takes care of the particles. Let’s not make this more complicated than it is….just think of the last supper and how many crumbs there must have been. Have faith, God takes care of everything!

The Church has taught for ages that the particles *do* matter & God wants us to treat Him with respect. Also, the Last Supper was a small number of people reclining at table. The table would have caught most of the particles. God *does* take care of everything, but He wants us to do what we can to protect Him. The saying ‘God helps those who help themselves’ is appropriate here. Is it more respectful to take greater care to protect the Body, Blood, Soul, & Divinity of Jesus or not care & just let God take care of it?

Giving the Host to priests is different from giving to the laity. That being said the Church clearly has a preference. On the tongue is a right and can be done everywhere while the country needs permission to distribute in the hand. Additionally, the required cleansing of the chalice and plate by the priest is very much about making sure you have every particle. Leaving it up to God is right, He gave the authority to the Church and she has taught which one is preferred and that the particles matter.
