I got 2 small birds of paradise about a year ago and potted them next to a small built pond in South Texas USA (our summers reach 115°F -46°C-). At first, they kind of burned a bit but grew and multiplied .... they are as tall as the house now. Covered them in winter and just trimmed all the cold damaged and they are sooooo big now!!

I only grow snake plants and love it when someone says they can offer so much more than 'forget them in a dark corner, and they'll be fine'. There are so many types of snake plants, and with the right light and care, they are awesome. Love your videos, and I watched them even when you speak about plants I will never grow :)

Love all the suggestions! It was so nice of the filming guy to give you a pup from his alocasia, what a lovely thing to think of doing. I so want a cast iron plant, they look like big versions of peace lillies to me, which are one of my fave plants (unpopular, I know!)
@briteddy97599 ай бұрын
Yes, do a part 2. I am enjoying adding to my plant jungle, but I like to avoid those hard to grow plants. They can turn out to be money down the drain. I am getting the feeling it is very possible to have a nice variety without overdoing the more fuzzy plants. Another video I would like is one on growing plants in semi-hydroponics. Which plants are well suited to this, the care, etc. What to watch out for. In other words, what would a beginner need to know. Thanks.

I really love the ZZ plants. So beautiful when it is a full plant. You can get away with little watering for months and it still survives. I recently planted mine in a new pretty ceramic pot. I love the many varieties such as the Raven and Akebono. Love the Cast Iron plant. This plant was popular during Victorian times. So hardy, so beautiful. Really enjoyed this video!!! 🥰

The McDowell is really easy, the only downside, for me, is that it's crawling and takes up a lot of space. Mine is currently producing 2 flowers and they are so pretty with their beautiful red colors! The regal shield is an amazing plant! Mine just pushed out a 45cm long leaf and it's so incredibly chill to care for. I have mine in my South facing window and it loves it. My jose buono has such interesting patterns on the leaves, it's fascinating. Some leaves are very bright with tiny dark green splotches all over them, others have huge patches of light green. I highly recommend this plant because it can look so interesting and it's so easy to care for!

This was fantastic! Please, share more! I've got a question for anyone who is good with Birds of Paradise: how do you keep the leaves from curling? Mine is in at least 70% humidity, with consistently most soil. The temperature is average for a house and it's under a 24W Sansi grow bulb. It keeps giving me new leaves but the older ones curl. It's doubled in size over the past six months so I'm doing something right - but I'm missing something! Oh, I fertilize with the American version of Gold Leaf and Cal-Mag regularly and I keep those curly leaves clean with a Neem Oil solution. What am I missing?
@northernplantucky9 ай бұрын
Just a guess but perhaps too much light
@jackiewhitney50319 ай бұрын
They don't need that much light in my opinion. Try moving the grow light out some or maybe turning it off and see the response you get from the plant. They don't need fertilizer but once daily.

I also have several plants and my Aglaonemas never had pests, never! The others they have pests or fungi (begonias). To be honest the difficult part for me is to treat fungi, because I have found an insecticide in a drug store that is not meant for plants but a professional florist recommended the product to me and it’s really amazing, the effect lasts for months. My calatheas are finally doing fine for a long time. But unfortunately I haven’t still found the magic product for fungi 😭

I didn t know, that are 7 or 8 Different species in the Agleonema family . Are you willing making a video?
@EmmasPonnyUtb9 ай бұрын
Oh no. The comment about the dogs wasn't quite right. If you take two dog breeds and mix them you get diseases from two breeds in one dog. The same happens with plants, but the horticulturists select the healthiest plants to grow on and discard the others. This is why many hybrids are quite expensive. There are many years of work behind it. Otherwise, I love your programs. You are a fountain of knowledge and experience and I am so grateful that you share. You series about diffrent flower shops was great. I wish with all my heart that you could have your own TV show where you talk about different houseplants and interview different experts and growers about houseplants. There are many programs about gardens but none about potted plants. At least not in Sweden where I live.😁
