These are all beautiful! I think the Calathea is actually a Ctenanthe, they're related but much easier. 😊

I just love watching your videos. You're one of the few that aren't annoying and I truly feel as if we're just gals talking plants! And along that vein, My calathea is a dramatic heifer and just loves to flop about when she is barely thirsty. It's like she's fainting with hand over brow waiting for someone to rush to her speaking in a raspy voice "Oh Camille!".

I have a calathea that looks identical in leaf to yours. Mine is about 7 years old and, insanely, about 7ft tall and 7ft wide. It is HUGE and currently flowering. Super easy too but no idea on the id since calatheas are only supposed to grow o around 4ft tall.

I bought my first Antherium yesterday. Because I don't have a lot of space in my apartment and have 114 other plants, I hesitated to get it. But I kept seeing this A. Luxurians, reasonably priced, in my local plant shop for the past couple of weeks. I fell in love with it. I know they get big leaves, but I hope it grows slowly as I have to find somewhere to put it when it does get big, out of my cats' reach. They do sometimes nibble leaves, but right now they can only reach the non-toxic ones.

Hey Claire, my Hoya princess dropped immidiately leafes when i pulled back only a bit from my windows and stopped growing. So back to the original place...all fine! I grow mine in pon. My wyetii loves light, on a Sunny Window, it shows all colours. Greats from Germany

Hi Claire, I enjoyed this video. You have a gorgeous collection. Definitely interested in a part two video. 👍 Also, what is your process for transitioning plants from soil to pon? I'd like to try to grow some of my plants that way.

I'm so grateful for my Philodendrons, Pothos, Scindapsus, and other easy-care plants, especially when dealing with the fussier ones, like my Calathea Dottie. I'd have chucked them all, if they were as temperamental! One day she's doing great, and the next - 3 dry, dead leaves. If she goes, she goes - not buying another one. I need easy plants - life is challenging enough! lol

I am fairly new to truly knowing how to take care of house plants. I am learning so much from you. I have a peace lily that was my moms. I am trying to nurse back. Good roots but had brown tips. Limp. Just looked unhappy. It is 4 years old. It did bloom a green flower in the spring. I gave humity now and cleaned the roots after watchng you. TY

I have the same calathea. It lives outside in a semi-shady spot in the summer and loves it ( in the Netherlands ). It is so big I have it in the spare bedroom in the winter and just water it when the leaves curl a bit. My hoya burtoniae aff. is not growing at all.

You have so many beautiful plants. The only thing I cannot agree on is calling low-maintenance plants a beginner plant. Calling them that is a little pet peeve for me. Because if you are a beginner and you only have two or three plants, you need plants that want attention from you, because you are so excited to care for it. As a beginner, my Calatheas thrived so much, but my Zizi plant died in a few weeks. And supposedly it should be a beginner plant. I don't know, I just don't like labelling plants as easy or as beginner plants, because it depends so much on what type of care person you are
@TheJungleHaven Жыл бұрын
I 100% agree with this! I was terrible with succulents when I first started out for the same reason and ended up overwatering so many of them. Some of the “low maintenance” ones I refer to here are also extremely forgiving plants if you do slightly overwater, and have adjusted very well to multiple environments in my time of owning them without giving me issues - for that reason, I’d say they are some of the hardier plants and probably very good if you’re still figuring things out as a beginner 💚

Hi Claire, I love hearing you talk about how well your plants are doing in S/H Pon and I’m looking into trying it myself although I do have a lot of my orchids in leca and bought a large quantity that I’d like to use up first. I can’t remember who it was but another KZbinr said they mix Pon & leca with great success in growing their houseplants. Thanks for sharing this video, it’s been a pleasure to watch.

My Bear Paw Plant just dropped all it's leaves and died. Well done for keeping it happy. I like the Nanuk pink Tradescantia and I have the dark purple velvet one too. They're all so easy and usually pest free. Your flowering Hoya will climb up a nice trellis but you need to put it in a biggish pot because it's really hard to repot it afterwards. My Wayetii is the same as yours, but just plain green and is now 2-3 yrs old and hardly done anything, despite a repot and a new position. Yes please, tips to wake it up would help a lot !!
@tubegoob1 Жыл бұрын
My Bear Paw did the same thing, soon after I bought it. I did buy it in winter - I was so sad, as it was a wish list plant for me. I am going through the same with my variegated Wayetii - no growth; the same 11 leaves since I bought it in December. I need a Wayetii Whisperer, too!
@musicalmarion Жыл бұрын
@@tubegoob1 I'm so glad I'm not the only one with those problems, I don't have a lot of light in my place so I've killed a lot of plants 😥 but it's just a case of finding the right species that like our environment. I've wasted so much money on growlights and humidifiers and now I just think "like my home or die, sorry!" Harsh, eh? 🙃

Claire, my hoya wayetii variegata is growing quite well, bun it is just hanging. I never saw one on a trallase and never thought of putting it on one. And for the other hoya.. Are you sure Suzie q is a different plant than krimson queen?? I never heard of that one and never saw it on any other lists of hoya. All the best!

I might just have to get a variegated tradescantia now, lol. I already have the well known zebrina type as well as the Nanouk and I love them! I think I have to get this variety now 😊 Also, do you know how to tell if you have a Susie Q? I was sent what I thought was a Krimson Queen by mistake instead of the Krimson Princess that I had ordered. The seller let me keep it and corrected the mistake. However, once I heard about the Susie Q, I've wondered if that's actually what I got. It has more rounded leaves than the more oblong leaves of my Krimson Queen and the leaves also have "dimples" like the Krinkle 8 has...which makes me wonder if it is actually a Susie Q. However, I haven't really found helpful information on how to tell the difference.
@sonja85171 Жыл бұрын
The wayetii might just need a little bit more water. Those leaves look quite folded up. Had the same issues with mine. As soon as I put it in semihydro the leaves unfolded and it started growing.

I always find your intro very formal. The Hoya Carnosa Krimson Princess is my favourite and my first purchase. Then the queen afterwards the more cream variegations with the green is nicer than just all green which sometimes i find is hard to get one with good variegations. I prefer my Hoyas trailing than on a trellis. The bear paw succulent is my favourite and the variegated one is also pretty too. But i do find it hard to take care of and have killed it from over watering. The bottom leaves always falls off for some reason. I think the green one is easier than the variegated one. I want to get the Hoya Kentiana that one is gorgeous with the pink variegations than the tricolour and green one. I find this one hard to care for.

Semi hydro is a game changer. I put all my 120 plants in Leca including Euphorbias, ZZ plants, Ric Rac cactus and even my Pachira Aquaticas, I did worry about changing my Howarthias to Leca but they love it as do the Alocasias which are massive! My Syngoniums failed tho🙁. I’m going to try SOP next which is the only one I have left in compost - nothing ventured, lol Best thing I like about semi hydro? No Fungus Gnats👏🏻👏🏻 I have had 1 thrips and 1 Spider mite attacks but to get rid of those gnats is absolute bliss

Interesting. I put all my syngonium into PON without any losses (9 varieties). Some of my adult Alocasia croaked, but most did well.
