Everyone knows how great Paco was. I grew up listening to Paco in the 80's. I've played flamenco since then. I've seen all the great guitarists. I saw Paco play, and I've watched every video and heard every recording there is. I've never seen anyone so consistently incredible as Paco. He was a literal machine, and he was like that since he was 16. And....that's just his technical ability - I haven't even mentioned how he revolutionized the guitar, and composed an entire repertoire of incredible guitar music, and accompanied Camaron changing flamenco forever and brought flamenco into the 21st century. It's inconceivable how great he really was.

oh, finally, someone new from reactors discovered the real stuff from Paco. Frankly, rarely the ''uninitiated'' - into flamenco - manage to go any further than Entre dos Aguas or Rio Anacho, which are just simple Rumbas to impress lay folks. Paco has a very wide repertoire worth closer inspection. Some legendary names to check - Nino Miguel, Juan Manuel Canizares, Vicente Amigo, Manolo Sanlucar. You will be very impressed. Paco is very technical and abstract, masterful, but he took it that far, that his complexity almost over-shadows the emotion. In case of Nino Miguel and Vicente Amigo, their work breathes with incredible emotion and lyrical mastery. In their work you'll discover slightly different dimension of flamenco.

It is Phrygian mode, the same one used in metal
@RicardoMarlowFlamenco6 ай бұрын
Yes sir. I noticed this as a kid after some years of metal playing. It was like I realized the guitar is designed for this dark sound. Fast forward 30 years, I finally discovered the Spanish vihuela tabs and they were putting Flemish vocal polyphony into chord shapes, many in “mode 3 or 4” which is basically this phrygian stuff. Flemish (Josquin de Prez etc.) music translates to “Flamenco” in Spanish, aka music from the Flemish. JS. Bach had inherited a lot from Josquin etc., via Lutheran (martin Luther loved Josquin) church but the Phrygian started to disappear as dominant of the minor modes. Today the Lutheran church in Nordic regions has the metal mass, coming full circle. 😂

This is Carlos Núñez,probably the best pipe player with the Galician pipe and flute.This is the music from my land,in the northwest.No,it's not flamenco but it's our music.from Galicia.Similar to the Irish and Scottish but different sound 'cause we use different pipes,as the French people from Normandy (western France) or Welsh people or Cornwall.Their pipes are the same but the Irish traditional and the Galican as well as the French,no.Also different among the 3 types.The Galician,for example,has a deeper sound,quite long.We also play a type of tamboreen called "pandeiro!,a wooden flute,a small drum,and other celtic instruments...but the most well-known is the pipe-It is made 100% by pipe builders,a tradition with thousands of years that goes from fathers to sons and daughters in the families dedicated exclusively to the art of pipe making.Enjoy.M.kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWLFl5mPj8mFo5I

Well, it is true that gypsies are a people closely linked to the Spanish and that in Spain there are about 750,000 gypsy people. The vast majority in the south (Andalusia) but also throughout Spain in general. However, and although they have a very important presence in the history of flamenco, both in singing, guitar and flamenco dancing, gypsies did not invent flamenco, as I already told you. ,Joe.Gypsies are a community or ethnic group originating from the Indian subcontinent, dating back to the Middle Kingdoms of India, from the regions of Punjab and Sinth. In the 9th century, the arrival of Islam to India caused the emigration of these inhabitants of the northwest to the west. Then in the 13th century there was a new wave of migrants due to the arrival of the Mongols to these lands. The first documents of the entry of the gypsies into the Iberian Peninsula date from the 15th century. Mainly in Andalusia and Seville. There is no doubt that the gypsy people have contributed to flamenco, that is true. Of the 750,000 Spanish gypsies, about 350,000 are Andalusian. By the way, Paco de Lucía, contrary to popular belief, was not gypsy. He was born in Algeciras, in the Andalusian province of Cádiz, but he was not a gypsy, although he had many friends and gypsy musicians.❤Greets.Marta.

Greetings!!! Yeah Spain sure have a lot to be proud of! I think Gypsies have given the artistic world way more than they get credit for! Over here I would say a large amount of the Gypsy population is Greek in origin but that could just be how certain populations of ethnic groups spread out in my region of the country! But tbh Im not sure if they just refer to themselves as Gypsies or they actually are! Its kinda funny we are having this conversation because I was just watching a movie that had Gypsies in it and I was telling my friend I wanted to be a Gypsy when I was a kid which weirded my teacher out when the whole "what do you wanna be when you grow up?" question came around class...lol It has been just a joy learning about Spain and its music and all of its artistic things it has brought the world, it really deserves more credit imo!
@martacoresgarciaАй бұрын
Well, it is a great coincidence that you are watching a movie in which gypsies are present, yes. Regarding Greece, of course some groups of gypsies left there for North America. But I am afraid that their roots are not Greek, but rather from the northwest. from India, as I mentioned. From the regions of Punjab and Sinth. In fact, their features are very similar to the current inhabitants of that part of the country. It is a very widespread ethnic group but Romania is where they have done the most roots, being more than 2 million. Followed by Spain. I suppose that your answer that you wanted to be a gypsy when you were older to🌍🌎 your teacher was because they were a nomadic people, who went in their carts from one place to another. Now they are no longer They usually do it like in the past, at least not in Spain and I don't think that in Romania, or Greece or Hungary they do it either. But yes, it's true, they went from one side to the other. Furthermore, they were very superstitious and the oldest women practiced tarot and made a living by reading the lines on people's palms. The cinema has shown it frequently, right? Sadly, they were also the object of racial hatred and persecution. Some did steal and things like that, but not all of them and on many occasions they were targeted. But that has always happened in our history, hasn't it? Even today, when in reality we are all a great mixture of ethnicities and cultures and we are much more similar to each other than we really believe. Racism is a social scourge and a shame. That is why I believe that the fact that in your country there are people like you, who are interested in cultures so different from the Anglo-Saxon one, it is something worthy of admiration.🌎🌍🌏
