@Michael Snyder I write a script and before I record I have some friends read it and fact check it. I've made enough videos to know about what length my videos will be. So for an 8 minute video like this, it's about 1700 words. 2000 words or so will get me to 10 minutes but I don't want to pad out my videos. I'll only go to 10 minutes if I think I have enough to say. I use a blue yeti mic, which is pretty standard for KZbinrs.

Adam Sandler really holds the film together. While the story and other characters are fantastic, it is Sandler’s performance that is the glue to the film. Had anyone else play the part, sure they would have been good. I read how Jonah Hill was considered for the part at a time when the Safdie brothers wanted to make this film years ago, but he was not interested in the film at the time, but they made Good Time and put this film on hold. Hill is a great actor and I’m sure would have been good in the role, but Sandler is perfect as Howard. Without the best actor for the part, the film would have not been as good as it is. To me, Sandler deserved an Oscar nomination for Best Actor, as did Robert Pattinson for The Lighthouse. I rank these two performances incredibly high among the best of last year. They’re just as good as Joaquin Phoenix in Joker, if not better at times. Obviously which performance is the best is clearly subjective, but Uncut Gems really shines as bright as it does because of Sandler. While many see him as an comedic actor known for being loud and angry in many of his films, Sandler is able to be dramatic and serious, even in some of his best known comedies. Sandler is really a fantastic actor, this film helps show how much range he has. Thank you for this video man. This is really great!

Uncut gems is so relatable. Even if youve never gambled a day in your life. All these things will pile up. Everything you are running from and avoiding will catch up to you, and if you dont STOP yourself, itll kill you more or less. If you find yourself being able to relate to Howie during the movie, you should think long and hard about why that is. So genius how the movie just drops in on a random day of Howie's. Gives you the sense that his entire life has been this way, and if he hadnt been killed, it would have been just another long weekend for him. Edit: Also, to my people struggling with addiction in any form, it is so important to remember why julia fox's character is totally sinister in the long run. She completely enables him throughout the entire movie and actually rewards him when he goes further down into his illness. Be very wary of enablers, man or woman, whether they look as good as julia or not.

Julia fox's character never cheated on Howard. On the streets she shouts how they both knew and agreed that she'll have to do this stuff to get more clients. She doesn't let The Weeknd touch her and is shown to be genuinely in love with Howard, to the degree that she's willing to run from goons with the betting money. The reason they had the fight was because Howard was overloaded with problems and his insecurity about self-worth had the final kick with seeing Julia with another guy. He snapped and forgot about his agreement with her and the trust they had. She is the only person in the movie who genuinely cares about Howard, not even Howard himself.

Amazing content. You didn’t just breakdown the movie and the script and give background on the film, you educated the audience. Learning about the choice of using longer lenses and then showing the footage of the light ranger and how it works. I found that very interesting. Great work 👏🏽

My wife and I picked this move this evening to watch. We stopped half way because we’re actually feeling anxious and nervous on a very uncomfortable level since it started. No movie has ever been so traumatic on us ever. I’m actually glad we started watch with a option to take a break then a theater...

There is a lot of jump cut edits in Uncut Gems. Howard (Adam Sandler's charactor) is always moving except for when he is behind the counter in his jewelery store. He's always being followed by his brother in law Arno's heavy's so the tension comes from that, the fast pace, the jump cuts and the way the film is shot. There are times when the score seems out of place, as if written for a different film. Yet, it is also very good for adding the tension. I didn't see many new films this year but Uncut Gems must have been one of the best.

It’s the pace, character decisions, and the fact that everyone is talking over each other. Stressed me out. Like a student of mine said: it was like standing at the top of a staircase watching people dump dirty dishes down it, and being able to do nothing about it.

adam sandler makes howard likable enough for us to care and cunning enough to make his character works in the movie. I can picture other people playing Howard and become either too cunning or too likable

Simply put, it's a brilliant film. In my mind, a lot of aspects of the idealisms that are made symbolic by the Gem is very Lynchian, giving a lot of mystery and almost magical qualities to the events that occur, whether or not they are all interconnected or not, the way the gem effects all their lives is almost identical to a downward spiral.
