I made this today and it was delicious. One change I made is to bake the tofu instead of fry it. That way you don't have to deal with the hassle of putting it on a cooling rack and getting rid of the excess oil. What I did is put the tofu pieces into a ziploc bag, shake up some corn starch into it, then add oil and shake that up in the bag too. Then bake at 400F for 30 mins

OMG I just did this now with a few alterations: chilli flakes instead of gochagaru, 3 garlic and a knob of ginger both minced. Normal onion as I did not have red and one tbsp of honey and 1 tsp of brown sugar instead of maple syrup. OMG the bomb! Absolutely delish. Will try other recipes. Thank you!

In my house 7 cloves of garlic IS a normal amount lol. (Part Portuguese.) I’m glad I found your channel because I have everything you use in my pantry already. I typically get smoked tofu (because it’s super-firm without draining) and I think either that or tempeh (minus the starch) would be delicious in the same sauce. Even if the tempeh was less crispy.

So Yummy. Made it for dinner tonight. Had a headache all day and didn’t feel like cooking. Decided this was quick and easy. I cheated and used my air fryer for the tofu. Will make extra sauce next time to smother the rice. Thanks so much for a quick, easy and seriously delicious dinner 💜

@@samelis6546 I let the tofu for 15 min or so, occasionally if it is really wet I may press it for a bit. Preheat your air fryer for 10 min. I cut it into roughly 1 to 1 1/2 inch squares. I place about 1TBSP of Braggs Soy Sauce or soy sauce of your choosing. in a bowl with 1TBSP cooking oil. I add the cubed tofu and coat it. Then I sprinkle 1TBSP of cornstarch over the tofu and toss it well. IYou will find the cornstarch melts into the tofu. Add to your hot air fryer basket. Bake for 10 minutes, toss it and bake for another 10 minutes. The tofu will be crunchy and ready for what ever sauce you want to add to it. Hope this helps.

Have you tried feezing the tofu twice? it actually changes the texture of the tofu and allows you to squeeze out all the water without the tofu breaking when it thaws. Gives a chicken texture
@juliet57723 жыл бұрын
What do you mean twice?
@alexsmoker1583 жыл бұрын
@@juliet5772 if you freeze it for 1 day then thaw it out and then freeze it again for another day and thaw it, the process changes the texture of tofu drastically to that of meat. it also allows you to manually squeeze all the water out of the tofu without it falling apart in your hand ( If its extra firm tofu). If you search on KZbin a lot of vegan youtubers have been doing it. It's game changer for sure.
