I’ll admit, while I still believe Disney’s portrayal and idea of Luke is consistent with his character…I am slightly afraid that they’re going to pull a “luke wants to be non violent and neutral” card. On the Luke point, I’ve said this for a while, but I really would love a Luke TV show detailing how Luke goes from the Luke we know to where he ends up in last Jedi. If you make it a character study about a man who is grappling with the weight of his own legend, I think that could actually be very interesting. It could be a show that gives both camps what they want. You get to show Luke being the super powerful Jedi, doing heroic things, but show a number of tragedies that befall him that sets him up to make his mistake with Kylo. Don’t know if they’ll ever do it, but I actually think that could be one of the most interesting threads to connect to the sequel trilogy.

Book of Boba implied Tatooine was once a lush planet. Seeing it in its prime, the native tuskens unmasked, the beasts. I think that would be cool if they can justify it in the story.

Solid idea (if it was indeed a lush planet only 25,000 years before). I'm a big proponent of them going back to specific locations in the Star Wars universe either long before and or long after. What if saw Coruscant before the entire planet was a city? Maybe we see Jedha with the Jedi statues up (not in the 25,000 years ago movie but in something else). They have an opportunity to play with the passage of time instead of having the galaxy be a static world.

The problem with the "it made a billion dollars" arguement is it only looks at boxoffice. It does not account for production cost, marketing cost, reshoots, and the percentage the theaters and foreign countries take. In the case of the Rise of Palpatine it made just shy of a billion at the boxoffice. However it cost $275mil to produce and then most likely another $150-175mil to market. On top of that there were massive reshoots which costs are not disclosed publicly. Rumors are this film cost north of $500mil. But just going by the numbers we have access to this film likely lost the studio money in the end. At best it broke even.

I am not a gamer, but I watched both my siblings play Knights of the Old Republic I & II. I really enjoy the stories in both games, so I understand why Revan could be among someone's favorite characters. My brother loves Kreia. As far as the Filoni film, I'm looking forward to it, and if Luke is in it, I am fine with it if it works. Despite a shaky season of The Mandalorian (which I still enjoyed) , I am loving Star Wars right now.

Hey Kristian, I agree with you regarding the quotes that Mark Hamill and others stated about George Lucas saying go faster (regarding the delivery of lines). You, me and many others love A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, because they took the time to let the characters breathe and develop. It was welcoming to have the silent times with Ben talking to Luke in A New Hope. Today most all movies, and series seem to be fearful of having quiet moments and dialogue without flashy background scenes and music. Recently watching A New Hope after watching the Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Wan Kenobi series, the lack of background music is oddly welcoming to me. So, the idea of George Lucas always saying faster, faster I think is being misunderstood from my perspective. RotJ and RotS were his faster movies of his Prequels and Trilogy movies. People were upset that TPM and AotC were too slow or had too much dialogue.

Harloff you are gonna be PUMPED, I was so lucky to play 4 hours early and the map system is almost OP. Even the one reviewer from I think IGN(but don’t quote me) said, “that unlike like game where you had to think about which way to go, the map called “the golden path” always leads you the right way. Especially on story mode. But you get 5 lightsaber stances: single, dual wield, staff(Maul), blaster plus lightsaber(EZRA) and my favorite Kylo Ren style HEAVY STANCE with cross guard sabers. Unlike last year the dual sabers were just the staff broken into two, now it is a separate stance. And each stance has weaknesses and strengths. I think you’ll love it. We weren’t give much of the story and only were exploring one word. But I ran into brown Wampa, lol. It was soooo good. FYI you only start off with the 3 stances: single, dual weird, and staff. And the lightsaber customization is mind blowing.

I think they'll start putting more Luke in Ahsoka S1 & S2 to set up his story against Thrawn. I'm not sure if you knew this, but re: Mangold's movie, there actually was a novel and short comic series called Dawn of the Jedi that was set in a similar time (25,793 BBY). It was canned when the canon was refreshed and it didn't get far because it started so late in the EU's lifetime, but I wonder how much of it Mangold will pull from.

I think Luke Skywalker will be in the movie in a similar capacity as he was in The Book of Boba Fett episode. Not as a cameo or a surprise appearance but as a supporting character with several scenes. It will payoff his mando-verse story and give fans more of what they wanted to see from the sequel trilogy. My wild prediction: We will see Luke fly his X-Wing into combat for the first time since A New Hope. The big surprise "cameo" will be Han Solo and Chewbacca in the falcon in the big space battle.

For dawn of the Jedi, I think the tech will be very present but quite different and not nearly as advanced. You’ll have things like hyperspace travel being far different, the use of wayfinders, possibly even more advanced tech from Rakatans or celestials. Overall, things should feel different and more “ancient”

One of the biggest moments of this season (Paz’s death) should’ve effected me emotionally and it didn’t. I was more affected by Crosshair’s Emperial push back and Tech’s death than anything that happened in Mando season 3. They left A LOT on the table/floor this season.

Luke Skywalker is a cautionary tale. KK has had plenty of time to decide Luke's fate and she chose to eliminate him. When he appeared in the shows she ended his time quickly to make sure Rey would not be forgotten. I don't think under KK and her boy toy Faloni, Luke will be seen again.

Love the channel and everything you guys are doing, I agree that the sequels all made a lot of money, and if you look at them from a casual audience standpoint they are fine films. The issue I have is that there seems to be this rot in the Star Wars franchise that keeps growing, there’s some great things coming that I’m looking forward to but I’m not on the edge of my seat anymore. I think Star Wars is at risk of going the way of the transformers franchise in terms of box office. They made a lot of money until they stopped making a lot of money because the quality dropped and the films just became a parody of what people were excited about in the first place. Still really love some things about Star Wars and when ever I hear that music, it always makes me think back to seeing phantom menace when I was a kid, but yeah, Star Wars needs a course correction and hopefully this new slate of films and content can do that

If the big report from WDW Pro is true (and he’s been right about a lot), we’re likely never seeing Luke again, beyond very minor cameos. They took Grogu away from Luke immediately after Season 2 of Mando. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Technology in SW is cyclical, so you have tech advance, and than regress, and advance again, rinse and repeat over time, which means you can have the same technology feel over the millenia of SW lore, and also have times with higher tech at some times and lower tech at other times in the lore. 😊😊

I think de-aging works fine if the older actor only has to do light moves like: walking, and talking. It's convincing enough to buy it as a younger man. Once you get into running, you have a problem. A 80 year old man trying to run like in his early 30s or late 20s. Doesn't work, just look at De Niro in The Irishman.

Bet the farm on Luke co-leading the Mandoverse movie. Luke appearing in Mando & Boba was a test, like Lucas using the Special Edition re-releases to do a practice run on the prequel CG effects. Can you imagine the first time we see Luke in the trailer beating some ass? The movie poster with him prominent side by side with Din and Ahsok with Thrawns big blue head in the background like Thanos? This would crash the presale sites. Grown men and women were crying when Luke appeared in Mando. Disney noticed that for sure.

I don't think the Mandalorian episodes were too rushed or anything. If anything, they're extremely slow with long scenes of people just walking around that feels like they're stretching out the story. It's the story itself and what they ultimately chose to focus on that was the issue with Mando season 3.

I believe not having Luke would be a big mistake, Leia should algo have some part because of the politics of the New Republic. I say this because many of my friends and family that aren't super star Wars nerd, the idea they have about Star Wars is Luke, Han and Leia. They still enjoy the shows, but definitely constantly ask where is Luke, where is Leia.... personally I do want to see content about Luke exploring the remnants of the Empire and the secrets of the emperor, the Jedi, etc sort of a bigger version of the short scenes in Battlefront 2 and of course it's relation with the Mandoverse. I see this Luke content sort of an Indiana Jones adventure thing where we see Luke going through all of this.

On the subject of the Sequels and the disney owned movies that have been released I think a fairer comparison would be merch sales. George always knew you don't make your buck from purely ticket sales but from the merch sales. This is where Disney has mis-stepped. The merch just doesn't move and ST merch that has a high value is only valued that highly because Disney/Hasbro saw that the earlier releases from the outset had no draw on investment from collectors/normies alike. $1billion per movie great, lets take into account marketing, reshoots etc etc and all the other dramas behind the scenes. ROS: $275-416 million production costs (shooting, pre production, post etc etc). Let's just say the budget was the top end of that at $416 million, slap on global marketing on this say what between $200-400 dollars to globally market? Realistically after all costs considered the net take from this movie alone was probably be what $200 million? Merch has always been the core of Star Wars. Over the years I've spent a silly amount on merch, I know people who would spend $20k to buy entire lots of merch to turn over. I don't think in the next 30-40 years there will be anywhere near the resurgence that there used to be. KOTOR: If Disney could give the same level of awe on screen I had when I first fired up KOTOR in an old republic movie I would be completely on board. Some of the best EU stories to date!

there's no way Disney will bring in Luke Skywalker into Filoni's crossover, event movie lol. Some Lucasfilm employee put something out recently, a meme about Luke and the Legacy Characters being cobwebs at this point, so that shows you their whole mentality toward those characters. If Disney had any interest in Luke they would have allowed a natural follow on from Favreau's Season 2, and greenlit a "Jedi Academy" spin-off series.

I'm actually not too excited for this dawn of the jedi movie. I don't think there's any good answer to how Jedis started and it would be better left as a mystery. However, if anyone was going to write that movie it should be George Lucas and he's not writing it. So, it's just going to feel like fan fiction, to be honest. I love James Mangold. I hope it's good. I wouldn't bet on it, though.

Let's be honest here. The sequel trilogy films made a billion dollars, at the cost of alienating a LOT of fans. And that's gonna have significant repercussions. If the hardcore fans don't show up, if they don't convince the average fans they should see this movie, then it will fail miserably. That's why Solo failed... Not because it released in May. But because Disney pissed off a LOT of people with The Last Jedi, and they spoke with their wallets. I didn't go see Solo in theaters for that exact reason, even tho I actually found it tolerable and mostly enjoyed it.

So what if they alienated a lot of fans? The goal is always to bring in new ones, not to service old ones that should have bailed a long time ago. Star Wars endures by renewing its audience from one generation of kids to the next generation to the next generation. Middle-aged fanboys who want the 1980's back aren't the audience that the sequel trilogy needed or was made for. And Solo's performance at the box office has got absolutely nothing to do with The Last Jedi. Firstly, because hardcore organised Star Wars fandom simply isn't BIG enough for have the boycott of a few hundred thousand angry fanboys make too much of a dent in the box office of a major studio blockbuster aimed primarily at a broad amily audience. And secondly because the two movies have got nothing whatsoever to do with one another. They have no story connection at all, feature hardly any of the same characters, and involve none of the same creative personnel whatsoever. So to boycott one movie because of displeasure of another completely unrelated one makes absolutely no sense at all. You'd have more of a case iif there was any evidence of a mass boycott of either The Rise Of Skywalker or Knives Out. Except there isn't. And there isn't. Not liking The Last Jedi and boycotting Solo because of it is a bit like having Coca-Cola give you bellyache and then boycotting Dr. Pepper in protest.

I am so against using AI, deepfakes, de-aging etc. for recreating actors and acting, I think it just destroys the whole notion of it and has a multitude of creepy undertones. I think they should just get Sebastian Stan, Billie Lourd, and Alden Ehrenreich. The first two look so much like Mark and Carrie, an average movie goer might not even notice these are different actors, and with Alden, they will understand that this is younger Han.

Yeah, what's Lucasfilm's beef with ROTJ era Luke? He's far and away my favorite character. It's like they push forward farmboy Luke and hide Jedi Luke. Frankly, it's been pissing me off. When he showed up in Mando season 2, even my 74 year old dad cried. Give us something animated, live action, I don't care at this point. Put some 'spect on his name.

Why does Mark Hamill have to be used for Luke? Find some unknown actor who looks similar. Many characters have had lots of actors play them, I.e. Sherlock, Bond, Peter Pan, Superman, bat man, Spider-Man. I DO NOT NEED THE ORIGINAL ACTORS TO ENJOY A GOOD STAR WARS STORY. GIVE US LUKE!

I love the character of Luke, but I'd rather they leave him be. It doesn't feel like a lot of people over at LF really respect his character that much, and at this point I think they would just damage his character even more. I REALLY hope I'm wrong about that. But I hope they let his character be.

Long story short (but I would suggest to watch his videos for more context) : He used to host the Schmoes After Show Podcast (and others) for free for 2-3 years but ultimately got a really bad experience, got bullied on air and things like that. Kristian reached out to him since to bury the axe. There are always two sides of a story of course but Kristian, even if it doesn't excuse his behavior, was clearly not happy at Collider, then dealt with personal stuff, which didn't help I'm sure. Ryan shouldn't have worked for free first of all, especially if the environment was toxic, and should've left way earlier than he did. But I guess since he was young and a big fan first, he didn't see it like that at the time.

Ray was fine in the first movie. The next two movies was just a fail. Shame KK lost years of toy sales, massive sales. Cost billions and billions. KK is not doing a good job. She was told to stop making movie's. She lost control of star wars. Tho is still looked after the books. She tells everyone about new series and movies which never will made. No one trusts her at all. The damage done means we will not likely get the new Ray movie. When lore and plot points just upset everyone they don't buy toys, t-shirt, mugs etc A TV show is giving them some toy sales they have not seen since force awakens.

For me, I really like the deepfake and AI voice route they've used for Luke. Since Mark is involved in some way and also gives his permission. The voice is technically his. They use archival audio of Mark speaking to obtain the voice. Han and Leia are a tricky one though. Not sure if Harrison cares enough to be a consultant throughout the process, and obviously Carrie has passed.
