I had lots of these games on my C16 - this brings back loads of memories

I didn't even watch it yet but I give a thumb up and watch it later! C16 is my childhood so it can be great only for me! Can't wait to watch it completly!

There was something about the C16 and Plus4 that I really quite liked. Sure, they didn't have the hardware sprites or SID audio of the C64, but the TED chip did give you far more colours and a higher screen resolution, so there were certainly some nice looking titles on those systems. I love these game compilation videos you make - they are a great way to get a decent overview of the system being demonstrated, especially if like me, the viewer is not that familiar with them.

So like Commodore to give and take away at the same time.

The C16 had one saving grace. I don't know why it came to be but after they were discontinued, Radio Shack bought up the surplus keyboards and were selling them here in the US for $5. So we would all run out and buy one so we could replace all of the white control keys (C=, shift, ctrl, return etc) on our 64C's with the C16's space grey keys for that "professional" PC look.

Such an interesting machine. The C16 clearly was capable in the right hands, but there were some low effort ports here. The comparison between Commando and Ikari Warriors probably is a very solid example of the wrong and right programmers given the task of porting a game.

Is fun to see that some games might have inspired later games: Airwolf looks like Air Rescue for the MS, Auto Zone looks like Blaster Master for the NES and Ikari Warriors looks like Secret Command for the MS. I prefer Bomb Jack for the ZX Spectrum.

I really should give the C16 a try sometime. I think someone has ported C16 games to the Gameboy Color.

Never could figure out why Commodore didn’t put sprites in the ted computers.

The TED chip was doing a lot of stuff (graphics, sound, dram refresh, interval timers and keyboard handing). Back in the day it wasn't that common that a single chip were doing that many tasks (I believe it was one of the first). I guess adding even more to that chip, was asking too much from it at that time. On the other hand, Commodore had already the C64 and adding sprites to those machine would increase the price of the C16 (or they won't sell that much C64 machines for those who could live without the SID chip).
