I grew up in Louisiana across the street was a grave yard. All gravesites are above ground because of floods and the spongy ground . If you buy your plot before you die they just seal it with a board and a thin layer of concrete. I'm not afraid of the dark because of that grave yard, I got so used to homeless people breaking into pre bought mausoleums and above-ground burial plots that I could see a ghost and still think it's just a person trying to survive. Bless that place, I do miss it like crazy.

I'm from La. too. My two of my grandparents are buried in st. Roch Cemetery. It sucks that you have to worry about people not only sleeping in mausoleums but also breaking into family Crepes and stealing parts of the Crepes themselves but also part of your family members, the sell to collectors and shops. My other family members are buried on Grand Isle there you pretty much just have to worry about them washing away with the title surge of a hurricane.

I love this idea! I personally would opt for the plastic bones, not only because of sourcing concerns, but also, I think the plastic ones would be much easier to keep clean, and germ free. Glad to see Gothic Homemaking back! I love these projects!!! 💀🖤

@asphodelale
@asphodelale 4 жыл бұрын
@@Reverend_Salem You could probably faux-marble some dowel rods, source some old rolling pins, or possibly use long square cuts of marble-colored Corian. Also, you could check with a seller who makes marble countertops and see if they could do something for you with the trimmings, though like the Corian, you'd probably have to go square instead of a cylinder.

@@MythicalHex personally, I'd rather have human bones, but my budget wouldn't allow $150 per rack (as amazing a price that is for a femur), so I would probably have to go online to buy some of the much more affordable prop replicas. Don't get me wrong, I would still be willing to pay the necessary money to buy real, authentic human bones, but not for diy projects where they may have to get damaged, or modified, but instead as an art piece for a side/coffee table, or mantle, or maybe even a flower vase made from a human skull would be a fitting centerpiece for a dinner table Something along those lines

@@cindyk.3022 well as more and more is known of their lives and habitats zoo life is now getting as enriching as the wild for animals. But always have to think they don't have to worry about getting hurt hunting or looking for a mate. Then also they have the best mates possible along with hand picked food they get medical care and no worry of parasites or predators. A lot has changed for zoo animals and any animal in captivity in the past 20 years. Also many animals where born in captivity if not they are old long lived animals, or rescues but most animals have no clue what being wild means or that their is things that can kill them. I love designing habitats I still do it even though I don't work with zoos anymore I still do it at home for my own animals and for other people's pets. I stopped working at OKC Zoo when i became too disabled to have normal hours I have to sleep and rest a lot so is much better working from home for me and just doing scheduled installs of habitats I did at home. I always go for the natural over man made looks myself. But I rarely go out now I ofcorse have vending tables for premade bioactive enclosures at reptile and pet expos. I try to make a habbitat look like a peace of the wild. It's a fun job

As a swamp witch down in Louisiana, I can confirm the human remains ban as well as the grave robbing, although, funnily enough, if you just wait long enough for a good flood, the human remains come to you. (We are below sea level. If coffins are buried in ground or the above ground mortuaries aren't secure, the coffins literally float away. It's not a huge problem most places these days, but New Orleans still has issues with it. Katrina was a veritable nightmare for the living and the dead.)

I’d have far too many unanswered questions to ever work with real human bones. What if they were murdered? What if the bone I’m playing with is actually a key piece of evidence in identifying the victim? What if my home is searched and the police find human bones (Ed Gein anyone?) And that’s not even getting to the subject of ghosts! That said,I do like the design, just in a vegan version.
