Hi, hoping im not too late for a reply. I am able to follow the steps pretty perfectly, but when parenting the armature to the model using automatic weights, it seems to not move anything on the model when entering pose mode to try to pose it. If i move the entire armature together in object mode, it does move the model, but something like rotating the arm in pose mode doesn't move anything. all transformations are applied to both the rig and the model, everything seems in place, ive decimated the model to be significantly less verts, merged by distance to remove overlapping verts, any ideas?

Hello! I was passing by this video and saw your comment, I don't know if you still need help. If you can't move your arms/legs with the circles it's because they are in IK (see the passage in the video) you can choose between IK/FK to move either directly with the palm/underfoot or via the circle controllers 😊

Preciate you bro! This whole time I thought the FK was supposed to follow the model and was wondering why the hands handle stopped following when I got the FK to track with the model. I didn't know one was for general movements and one was for specific movements.

I'm using Blender 3.5 and I imported a rig into Blender using FBX and I have watched every video and nothing is working for me to make the bones that are sticking out to disappear and the bones wont attach to the mesh.

I use Auto-Rig Pro because the face rig in Rigify is just too much hassle. Now there's a free stand alone rigging tool called Accurig and it's free. It looks pretty cool, but as of now it has no face rig function.

Indeed. I can never get a rig to generate because I always get an error. I've seen different approaches to how to align the face bones. I'm gonna try Dale's approach next before I pay for Auto Rig Pro.

@@thelastdev Yayyy I finally got a rig to generate!! Thank you so much for this video. Every other video I watched gave me bad advice about how to align the bones, specifically the jaw and mouth. I always got an error. But this alignment worked flawlessly. Thank you so much Dale! New subscriber forever!

I was fine till 9:00 , when I clicked automatic weights, the loading circle appeared… and it just stays like that. What can I do 😢??… ps: I am using a mac

And how do i export it videogame ready? because when I export to as fbx to 3ds max with this rig it has an incredible amount of bones compared to the normal bone rigs. and it just looks like a mess.

Thanks for this tutorial. I have rigged the bones in edit mode, however when I switch to object mode as time stamp 5:50, the position of the bones are off the character mesh. May I know why?

I was doing fine until 8:57 Automatic Weights, when I click on it my character rotates 90 degrees forward facing down and the rig is standing still. I restarted from the beginning and even changed to a different character and got the same results. Am I skipping a step unconsciously? Do you have any idea what's going on?

Reset scale, and apple all transformation on your character

@@SEVENCHANGER awesome, that happens do to polys being moved in object model, this applies to everything in blender especially when sculpting. Also I want to mentioned I just posted a new video a few minutes ago regarding my new character rig and discord access if you want to check that out:D

Is your character one mesh or many separate part?

@@thelastdev it was separate as I used .obj and some simply cloth items. but they are merged together now

@@thelastdev i fixed my problem, I recovered an old mesh that isn't an .obj file and it works, THANK YOU!!! for this tutorial.

Hey Dale! Hope you're well. I have been working on my rigify, I've also done the weight paint and it's basically there... However the teeth.. When I rotate the chin, the lower teeth goes through the lower chin. Wondering if you get same issue with teeth when moving chin?

You have to parent the teeth to the mouth controllers,

@@thelastdev I have parented the teeth to the teeth T and teeth B as empty weights. They move fine when I move the teeth, however when I move the jaw they go super fast and heavy and go under the chin. Tongue too

@@indianastilts the teeth are a little bit different than parenting clothes and eyes. Just select the top or bottom teeth, shift select the rig, go to pose mode, and select the top or bottom teeth controller ,ctrl + p, go to bone. And boom

@@thelastdev Will give this a try now, so you make the teeth top and bottom seperate models then? I have them as one model and then in edit mode, I highlight top for example, then go to vert group and apply it to teeth T. I will try your way instead and make them two models, top and bottom then parent to the rig and see what that does.

@@thelastdev Unfortunatly that didn't work. As I am using a generated rig. I will see if I can find away. At the moment the lower jaw and tongue isn't staying in the mouth when I move the main jaw rig. I will have a look into solving it hopefully

Hmmm really? What’s the poly count for you model? I’m almost positive that’s the issue, make sure the model is low poly
