I bought 2 Nintendo 3DS Systems from a Thrift Store for only $20ea. Do they work? Can they be fixed? Did I waste $40?

I had a few of those in a box of donated stuff... The best one had been soaked in coke.. I had to disassemble the entire thing and clean it out.. It was nasty :)

I have a question about the og 3DS. I have the problem of the blue power light coming on, but the screens do not turn on. The blue stays on as well unless I hold the power button down. I have replaced the battery, put new screens in, and even tried the wifi chip trick. But nothing works. I have power and nothing else. What should I do?

I have the same problem with the same model blue/teal 3ds battery is done ots about 12 years old and the new one from amazon won't work either... Did you ever get it to work with another battery you found online

Always try a battery first ...if a friend has one swap it and see if it charges, if so bad battery

I hope you can help me... I have one 3DS just like these ones. The battery life was really inconsistent, so I've opened it and realized that the battery was swollen. I've taken it off and started searching for a new one. I couldn't find an original, so I bought a Switch Pro Controller just for the battery (since is the same model). The battery is in my 3DS now, but it wont turn on. When I plug it in the charger, the orange light turn on for few seconds, then just turn off. I've tested and its the same thing it does when you try to charge it with no battery on. Since you seem more experienced than me, do you have any idea of something I can do to fix it?

I think nintendo has smart sensors in the unit/battery and that may make it not able to be changed try something like this its cheap and if it works great it is hit and miss with nintendo s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dkj1suv

Hey LGH! So i fixed my 3ds xl because im experiencing the black screen of death (i took the battery out then put it back again). Then after i fixed it i played of course. But when i was done i was gonna charge it but it won't charge. What do you think is the problem here? The battery or the charger?

Thats a hard one,I would never let an older battery completely die as sometimes they will not work at all anymore, will it work when plugged in?

hi, i have the same problem, but i tested my "dead" battery on a 2DS and it worked fine. Then i tested the 2DS battery on my 3DS and had no power on the console. ¿what could it be the problem?

you would have to find fuse F2 and see if its good, if so try some pressure on connections on the motherboard may not be fully seated

I've got a 3DS that doesn't power on unless it's connected to the charger. I have working batteries that have been tested on another console, so they're not the issue. When I plug in the charger the light shuts off after a few seconds, but the console will remain powered on so long as it stays plugged in. The moment the charger disconnected the console shuts off. Any idea what the issue is and how I might be able to fix it?

@@biohazard2236 sounds like the charge circuit is not alowing power in or out, may be a fusing issue circuit chip issue

I tried this, I used 2 new batteries (3rd party ones) and kept blinking the light then eventually off, even tried it with a nintendo battery from another one and the same thing yet that battery was in another 3ds working fine. Gotta be charging port!

That seemed like a charge port issue to me. The orange charging light that briefly turns on then shuts off is likely a problem with the contacts inside the charge port of the 3ds, or the port itself making a bad connection on the board.

@@LastGameHunter wish I could really say. My testing has abruptly ended, as my cat randomly came and grabbed one of the ribbons it it's mouth and broke off the end... I'm so annoyed. From what I could tell tho, my battery was fine. I had purchased a universal external battery charger and it charged just fine. And my multi meter finally came in. I'd say my charger was broken as I could barely get a voltage reading on it. But even after charging my ds then didn't turn on. So I started thinking the battery prong part was broken.which doesn't make sense, coz it had turned on fine when the battery was dying/ I first noticed it wouldn't charge. But whats also weird Is that during that time of it near dying battery, I was able to put in the charger and play my games, so it would give enough power to keep it on; it just wouldn't charge. So idk. It's very weird.

Mine is very weird, the orange light stay for 5 secs then off. I tried leave it charging overnight but not work, i even replaced battery but still not better. I checked the fuses but not see any of them blown up or burnt. Maybe my 3ds just dead now, just suddenly not turn on and not charge anymore. More thing is the charge cable still fine coz i can charge my DSi

@@LastGameHunter i think so but now i charge it direct to the battery, it work and even revived my old battery but idk if 5.0 volt may harm the device or not. I'll buy other 3ds soon so i think I'll charge it like that till i get a new one.

Response to my comment: (so the creator sees) The problem is that i moved to a new country and the sockets are way diffrent from the other sockets, i tried using the multi socket plug and it still didnt work, im going to just play pokemon masters because i cant play pokemon ultra sun when i go home it will probably work. Is the factory AC adapter not dual voltage? then it just needs the plug converter....if that's what you have make sure the ac adapter say 110/220V on it
