I think this project is going to be really interesting! I have been researching Japanese style stitching for some time now. The book I bought is called 'The Book of Boro' by Susan Briscoe and is a very good beginners guide. The rabbit hole I fell down shared with this guy • "Reflow" No.18 Boro Ki... and carried on with many more links - you know how that happens with KZbin! My ideas and thoughts for this garment change all the time and when I post about this agin I think you'll find I have changed my mind on many things!
In other news, I have seen a little flurry of new subscribers! If that is you - welcome! and if you have still not decided whether or not to subscribe - 40% of you according to my statistics - just do it! what's the worst that can happen! ha ha!
Join the mailing list on the website to receive the monthly newsletter. It will keep you informed of shop updates, the charity donation I make each month with your Ad Revenue, plus the prize draw details where one person on the mailing list will win a gift from the shop. My husband sent me to help my stepdaughter buy some jeans. We found some that we thought were perfect, until she tried to put her hand in the pockets. They were fake! Astonished, she said, “Is that legal?!?” Your jacket will be fabulous. It’s such a treat when KZbinrs let us in on your thinking.

I love 💕 this tutorial!! I just found it today. March 19, 2024! Thank you so much for sharing your journey!!! Rabbit holes are my absolute favourite things. I have deconstructed many jeans over the last few years. I have saved most of the pocket fronts for quilt labels. They are hard to hand stitch down but they are so unique!!!! I must get back to scrolling to see how your jacket turned out!!!!

What an inspiration! I stumbled on your video by accident and I'm *so* glad I did! Years ago, I made a two bomber jackets out of rugby fleece. Before completing them as two garments, I decided to stitch them together as one and stuff them with quilt wadding. That was the warmest and most comfortable garment I've ever worn. More recently, I find I need a warm coat for winter. I'm imagining your denim idea lined with some pretty pieced fabrics and stuffed with quilt wadding. Thank you *so* much! WOW I think your jacket will be stunning when it's finished! I'd definitely go crazy putting those lovely patches of fabric from India all over to "dress" it up (you can't have too many patches in my eyes LOL). A simple raw-edged zigzag stitch around the patch would look lovely and the fraying around the edges would add to the charm IMHO. Can't wait to see what the finished jacket will look like. Enjoy the journey!

OMG I am simply going to look forward to the progress you make on this lovely daily jacket. I haven't sewn any fashion for nearly 20 years, but I keep thinking it is time I make me something new. 24 years ago I made simple summer dresses for my then 2 and 6 yr gd. The 2 year olds' had so little material that I didn't have room for the two outer shirt pockets. Immediately when her mother gave her the dress and buttoned it up, Brittany cried. Kim ask asked her did she not like the pretty dress that Nana sent for her? Well, she said through teary 2 yrold speech that Meaghan's had poc pocs, OMG I made her pockets and sent them to my mother to sew onto the dress.
