I have finally moved everything that is NOT about 'making' up to my new 'office' or, The Pink Room as it is now going to be called. Here is where I can store everything to do with shipping! It has freed up the big table for more making! This is a very good thing!

That kamp is a drafting lamp, but needs a clamp on it. You might get a clamp from an office/drafting store and you can secure it to the table, an clear the floor. It's tippy because it's made to clamp to a table and isn't balanced to be on the end of a pole. Dad's are wonderful. Nice try, Dad... lol. Love the map idea. We don't always remember what state is where, either... so don't feel bad. By now you've probably got it all figured out. Love the pink room. Thank for letting us be part of the set up. Such fun. Great video.

Cheryl from Manitoba, Canada (dead centre of the country). That's a great idea to utilize the pink room as your office. I'm alone in a 3 bedroom house and each room has it's specific designation. Although, some days things get so messy around here, I forget what that particular room was set up for. You're going to have to build a bigger window sill. Once all the girls catch on to where you are, you know they'll want to join you! LOL I love all your books, Kate. You have been very busy!! I really like the one about Crafts. As well, your videos are never long. You make them as long as you want. You're never boring or dreary. Your unexpected giggles cause a chain reaction here. You giggle, I giggle. Too much fun! For the backing of your wall map, I would suggest a sheet of light, rigid foam insulation. Over here you can find it foil-faced or not and various thicknesses. Could easily be covered with paper or fabric. For the giveaway, if I may be so bold, I live in Northwest NJ and am drawn to the craft cards. Thanks.

The lamp sits on a pin. Only the stand is too wobbly. Drill a same size hole in the top of the dresser, and move the lamp to that more stable base. A single hole in the dresser top is ok. If you want the dresser somewhere else later without the lamp, a bit of dowel rod will fill the hole and can be made invisible. Wood is very forgiving and will be happy for the additional function.

Your Dad had a great idea for the lamp, maybe he should patent it. The Pink Packing Dept. seems like it will work out well, glad to know things have developed so much that you have need of it.

I have an idea for your wonky lamp find a few big rocks to glue to the base to sturdy it up (I'm sure you've got some heavy duty glue around ) LOL Then you could add Smaller pretty rocks what the heck throw some glitter on there while you're at it 💖

I was thinking of a quickrete (bag of fast just add water concrete) ring but it would be so ugly. Your idea would make it so neat. The basic ring made in 2 pieces to make installation n removal easy. At each end stick in something to tie or otherwise fix the 2 halves together.

I love your angle poise lamp. Reminded me of my dads lamp that he made. The base was an upturned orange frying pan, the column was brass piping and the light was fixed to the top. We were always amused when we visited him. 😍

Foam insulation boards (panels) from a home improvement (building supply) store will work for your maps. Attach the foam panels with nails or screws. Then, use thumbtacks or push pins to attach your map to the boards. Lee, North Carolina USA, sunset. Thank you for sharing. Love the view from your windows. Like, too, the specific purpose for the room, yet with a bit of moving stuff off the bed, will still serve, as a guest room.

when you mention swans it reminded me that the Tundra swans are about to come through Ontario on their way from Chesapeake Bay to the Arctic to nest for the summer. They stop in a town called Aylmer where there is a marshy area and they are fed and there are viewing stations and a daily count is done. Of swans and other birds. Many years ago we drove there and were filled with wonder watching them come and go and rest. The day we visited there were over 4000 (yes, thousand) swans. Quite a wonderful sight to behold.

what an amazing sight that must have been - wild birds and animals are so amazing with their migrations - I just rewatched Fly Away Home about the Canada Geese - and here the curlews are back on the hills - they overwinter at the coast and come back each spring to nest - I love the sound of them. Watching your videos is like visiting with a dear friend. Your creativity is an inspiration. I am surprised that you put all those supplies directly on top of your beautiful quilt. Aren't you worried that it might get damaged or discolored? Your Prudence obviously wanted a cuddle. We had a Prudence, too, but it was her middle name. Trinket Prudence, a six pound toy poodle. She died almost two years ago at the ripe old age of 16 years and 2 months. We miss her very much. We now live in Brookfield, Wisconsin, USA, just west of Milwaukee. I finally picked up on your location near Hexham. We stayed in the Carr Edge Farm near Hexham back in 2006. We visited the Roman Vindolanda excavations & walked beside Hadrian's Wall (in the rain, of course.) In addition we drove northeast to see Alnwick Castle. Wish I'd known you were there.

That lamp that tends to tip over? You could run a bungee cord around the pole, closer to the top than the bottom. Then hook the hooks on the bungee onto something stable. That should keep it from tipping over, even with the arm extended.

Hi Kate, it’s Tori from British Columbia, Canada. I love all your cards but I do enjoy sunsets. I think Prudence is as happy about your pink room as you are she looks quite pleased. I was thinking about the lamp your Dad made. What if you were to sew a tube of fabric, put something heavy like sand or even marbles or rocks in it and wrapped it around the top of the base to give it some stability and weight so it won’t tip. It’d be a shame not to be able to use it and move it around. Wishing you a lovely day. 💕

We are contemplating moving from our home of 40 years. We have so much stuff! I know we don’t absolutely NEED a lot of it. However, our house is small compared to many. Our kids are grown. As they’ve moved into their grownup lives we’ve moved into the spaces they used to occupy. As you can imagine every room is full of the materials chosen to create our life together. Every space feels needed, worked, hoped for and desired. How does anybody start winnowing down their lives? Which hobby, which interests, that we love, do we let go? We’re not ready to be old. There’s still so much we want to do. But our health is not what it used to be. We can’t live in a place we can’t take care of or use. I think this came up because you were moving in to your pink room and making decisions. We have to make decisions and choices we don’t want to make. This is going to be really hard.

I am new to podcasting (The Psychic Craftswoman) and do not have a shop as such, but already I can see how useful it would be to have separate work spaces. Lovely room, great view.
