One of my favorite things about any project you share with us is that you explain that "this is the way I do it" or "this is what works for me" which leaves the impression of: just because everyone's way may be different, it doesn't mean it's wrong! I love that!
@wendywilson17362 жыл бұрын
I agree!! There are so many folks out there who think their way is the only way, or "this is the way I learned it, so it must be The way to do it" There is more than one way to do just about every craft, and other things. Plus, many folks are afraid to experiment, and try different ways to do something. They expect specific instructions to do something, and think those instructions is the Only way to do something!

You saved the best for last -- that ending panel was absolutely spectacular! For anyone who turned it off after "That's a wrap" missed your brilliant artwork. As you did all those years ago with your indigo dyeing, you wowed me with this process. Not that I would ever attempt it but I do hope that you will do some more in the future. Thank you, Kate, for being you and being so creative! xx

You can get a similar effect with rubber bands holding those small glass discs in place while dyeing. You can get them at the craft shop, they're used in vases to keep flower stems from moving around.

“Having a go” at something different and interesting would make life better for so many people who stick to only what they already know. Imagine the first people to dye with indigo. If they never tried something different we wouldn’t have indigo dyes.

At our Creative Fibre group we have regular Dye Days and have an indigo bath for everyone to bring anything to be dyed. There are tshirts, aprons, fabric and wool and it’s so exciting to see the dye develop from green to indigo. The items get paler and paler as the dye bath exhausts.

The poem…The Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat…inspired a dog pillow and kitty made by my grandmother for my older sister and we all played with them..only the Gingham Dog has survived. Not bad considering we are all in our late 60’s and early 70’s. The Gingham Dog was green gingham with a black button eye!

The best thirty crowns I spent in my life was visiting one of the two traditional indigo resist printing workshops here in Czechia. Thank you Kate, just finished making an indigo quilt for my grandson's 18th birthday day, I also used a few pieces of a mustard and rust coloured Japanese fabrics, backed it with a dark blue grunge and used the rust to bind it. The quilt was made with wedge shaped pieces and had it quilted with large swirls, it's a very generous queen size. Thank you for a wonderful post for first thing Monday morning here down under, must get cutting apples for drying while the temps are considering to hold in high 20c-low30c no autum leaves yet because even the nights have still been sitting in the high teens. Loved the little appearance of Norma in background of the older footage and then beeing greeted by sleepy Cat Rita. Dish of sun dried organic apples to pass down TLGS, with blessing from down under

We used to have the 'annual' tie-dye party every year. Didn't use the screaming primary colors, just a few mediums and some pastels. I wore my prized pastel tie-dye socks to work with my favorite Birkenstocks, since I was working a desk job that week at the railroad. If working outside, ankle-high boots with steel toes were required. Our brand new Division Superintendent walked up beside me when I was operating the copy machine, I thought, "Oh no, I'm gonna get in trouble now," but he leaned over to say in a stage-delivered aside, "My wife would KILL for those socks!" Cracked me up!
