Kate none of them are rubbish! They are your wonderful creations. I have played with watercolours every now and then for years and in November last year I decided to put a brush to paper every day and I have kept to that. I created an art journal and everything goes into that, even those I think are rubbish, which is quite a lot of them. 😊I have played with different mediums and then decided I needed to learn to draw, I am amazed at how my "art" has evolved and I become totally lost in creating.

For me, art is all about emotion. Goofy, tragic, glam, awe-inspiring. Doesn't matter. If it touches my heart, it's art. Could be a poem, a fallen leaf, The Sistine Chapel, a fresh loaf of bread, or a book by Kate. 🎨 Greetings to everyone here on the LGS today.

Kate ,today is Aug 18 2020- I am a new subscriber and find your site a happy place for the me.I have been painting watercolour for some time little over fifteen years but I also sew ,garden, dabble in altered book making ,bind my own watercolour sketch books and play with ecodying paper and fabric I am not sure if I am an artist but I know I am a maker and if I cannot “make” I am not happy .You sound like a kindred spirit in your creative journey.❤️I found Mitsi this past year and her work is inspiring and she instills in me the desire to keep creating ,finding “me “in my work.I found you through her site and it is a pleasure to find you both🥰

Kate, you've discovered the true essence of art...self expression of every mood and feeling, not bound by societal conventions or expectations. What a lovely play of color and random ideas. I see the joy in your face as you retrace your earlier efforts. Not just art, but creativity of all kinds should elicit this response in each of us. Joy when doing it, joy when remembering it, and joy in sharing it with others. That is the mark of a true artist, and if we werent so fearful of experimenting and releasing our inhibitions, we could find some of that joy in ourselves. Well done, my friend!

I’m at the farthest end of the lime green sofa today because i got up very late . My favorite giraffe 🦒 is standing near me , not on my lap-she’s much too heavy for that. There’s a ball of sea blue yarn on one of her knobby things on her head. What do you call those things anyway? Not horns. Hmm. Anyway, crocheting for the pleasure of it, not really making anything in particular. Happy as a clam . So much fun, yet relaxing. Thank you for letting me join y’all !! Please pass the raspberry zinger tea, and sugar of course! Got a bit of a sweet tooth.

Oh Kate, I LOVED this! I used to sell my art and was always consumed with “Is it good enough? Will it sell?” And eventually it became too much pressure and I didn’t enjoy it. I am inspired to go make marks on paper with no thoughts for anyone else’s opinion. I will just do it for the joy of it. Thank you. You are such an inspiration to me. I'm not trying to be mushy or anything like that at all. I love colors...looking at them, combining them into something that makes me happy and you have done the same with everything that you do. From cooking to gardening to spinning knitting and more. It's all art. And all of your followers appreciate all of what you do.

🥰💕Having an awfully bad day. My head was exploding first day shutting off the news. I thought I was having a stroke today. Just when I couldn’t take another moment I said I know what I need to do right now I need to hear Kate’s soothing voice. I put my earphones in held my head real tight I thought it would explode with a total migraine & put on your video today. Just watching your video calmed my sparking nerves & slowed me down to a halt. I couldn’t even see straight. Just held my head & listened. You got me through two hand surgeries recoveries & you just have a charm about you to get me to relax & calm me down. With all that is going on it’s so hard to focus. But like you said turn the news off we need a mental break. Thank you for today. You are eternally my best You Tube friend on that lovely couch. Thank you. God bless us all. 🥰💕🧵😇🙏🏻

Kate, thank you for introducing me to the work of Michelle. My sort of art also. I liked your journals and as you were showing them and saying you did not think they were good, the thought went through my mind that if you are putting marks on paper you are being creative so it really does not matter how 'good' they are. As long as you are enjoying the process you are being creative which is the important thing. I also like the work of Rosina Wachtmeista.

Love your work Kate, I went to night school about twenty years ago to learn how to paint with water colour. MMMM I'm not great at it but I did improve over the last few weeks. It took me out of my comfort zone and I did enjoy it. Actually I went looking for a couple of paintings I did as homework but I cannot find them and I guess after moving three times over the last five years they have disappeared into the night. but I do get where you are coming from, sometimes it's like an itch that just has to be scratched 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I do hope everyone is well and happy on the sofa xxxx Avril xx

She does crumb sewing. I admit, I didn't know what in the world that was, but she explained, and showed some of what she had made. She said it just kick starts her day, and gets her in the mood. I appreciate art and I could make some darn cute kid patterns for art projects when I was teaching, but have no talent for drawing/painting at all. Good thing I taught 9 year olds who didn't mind my stick figures......I'm almost finished with my therapy after my hip replacement (everyone wears masks, the crew is small and there's no more than 5 of us in there most days) and I nearly cried today when they told me I'll just be scheduled for one day next week. Yes, I'm very grateful that I am doing well but those two hours a week are my social life!!! ha ha I am lucky to live near the Platte River and there's a bald eagle nest I've watched the last three years. I can pull off the road and watch the nest with my binoculars...sure balances me on the days when I'm antsy. Mama just sits and does her thing and the crazy world doesn't phase her! I hope everyone is getting in some spring sunshine!

Your books are fabulous! You are so creative Kate! Ive got a poorly doggie at the moment so spending time looking after her and doing a bit of crochet, knitting when she is asleep. She is on the mend now, but needs some extra cuddles. Stay safe everyone on the lime green sofa!

Kate, I love the book with the circle cut outs. I have made small books using leather and stitching designs on the covers. Several women in my art group make books and I will share your video. Thank you for all of the videos that make staying at home so interesting.

Love many pages in your books. You were smart to keep it in the book. I however went through a huge moral injury and took on a wall to the horror of my son. Like you I love gold but glinting on the edge of clouds. actually came out well. Better than the large, bold "Live, Love, Laugh , PERSIST" on the livingroom wall.

Sounds like a lovely idea to sit for a half hour to do your paper art! Can’t wait to see what you come up with! I don’t know all the details about it but Spoonflower is a website where you can have your art and designs put onto fabric. You could become the next Kaffe Fassett!!! Hello 👋🏻 and nice to see everyone on the LGS 🥰!

The pages of your sketchbook are incredible. Keep it up. Art is a very broad term and can include many forms of mark-making.

I like very much your book of your art. It is what’s called Mixed Media. There is a whole world of mixed media on KZbin. Oh my. The book that has the cut out bits is definitely mixed media. It is gorgeous.

Love your video tonight. This lockdown has seen me do all the things I love, textile, yarn, paint, cooking and Gardening. I have always done these things, but some how doing them under no agenda, when ever you want has really made them all the more pleasurable. So, painting it is tomorrow. Must tell you all my cakes today are scrumptious, I’ll pass some along the sofa, help yourself.😁

Enjoy all your videos. Seeing some of the pages in your books made me think of the scrapbooks I have done. I too love color and sparkle. It's fun creating whether it's quilting, sewing, crochet or scrapbooking. I've always loved using things that most wouldn't think of in creating things and repurposing items. Thank you for inspiring us to think of all the possibilities. Have a blessed day.

Well I never thought when I woke up this morning that today I would paint my first ever picture! I never have had had any interest in painting but I went over to Michelle's channel after watching your video this morning and after watching several of her videos I took out a box of watercolour paints and paper (bought for Grandchildren) and away I went! Oh what fun and freedom I've found mixing up colours and seeing them shape into all sorts of scenes - bold and mellow. I'm delighted! Thank you so much Kate.

Another inspiring video! I'm "having a go" at it all, want to try knitting next...with that being said, I did notice an anomaly behind your left shoulder at 20:14, maybe one of the fairies? Blessings to all on the LGS, stay safe and healthy everyone 😷
