I found a 300 mile Mini Metro in a barn - a literal farmers' barn in 2010. Now a Mini Metro is not that special - but it was in mint condition with 300 miles on it, so I contacted the Mini Metro owners club and gave them the chassis number etc, I was immediately contacted by a very excited guy. It was from the same donor chassis production run as Colin McRae's 6R4 and this guy HAD a Colin McRae crashed 6R4 he needed a shell for. There is a difference on the donor shell, you cant use a standard 3 door metro for some reason. Anyway - I paid £250 for it and sold it for £1500 so I was happy and happier that it was going to a GREAT place...

Overtaking was a pure dream, often not even needing a down change given the torque available. This is great - you have brightened up my Friday. I owned a red 1988 GT Turbo back in 1991 and also owned three 11 Turbos. All were daily drivers and with correct maintenance including the correct oil - Shell Gemini I recall was effective but changed every 4-5000, quality magnesium tipped plugs every 7-8,000 (£10:00 each then!) and regular coolant and temperature checks, they were capable of long distances and shorter blasts with excellent reliability. The phase 2 Renault 11 Turbos running the same engine but with 5 bhp less, were a real Q car when de-badged and could easily worry other fast cars. They are even rarer today than the 5 GT Turbo. Let's hope that this Tungsten Grey example is fully restored and pampered in its old age. Fabulous.

GREAT EPISODE - I bet dollars to donuts that the front splitter damage has everything to do with the dented speedline alloy in the hatch. The driver at the time knew it would be some time to get that wheel round again, so he rotated the spare to the rear and ran the rear alloy up front. Probably understeered into something that took it out.

Ohh the joy! E872 GLO was my baby back in the day. Gloss black she was. Drove her to GT tuning in Poole from Manchester and had the full works. Superchip'd, adjustable boost, turbo uprated, new clutch, air filter, dump valve, strut brace. Some of the best fun I ever had on 4 wheels. No power steering. A proper drivers car. Great times dispite the fuel pump failures, electrical issues, head gaskets, water pumps lol. Driving while the dash vibrated and lit up like a christmas tree, while catching the interior mirror as it fell off lol. Nearly crashing while trying to get a tape into the radio because of its daft position lol. Climbing though the boot when the fob stopped working because you de-locked the doors. All typical issues for most GTT owners. 1000s spent but I loved her. She eventually was written off. Wrapped around a set of traffic lights by her new owner 3 weeks after I sold her. Good times 🖤

I purchased it from a guy in Deptford as I lived in New Cross Gate at the time such great memories driving this car from speeding tickets to my mate Pete breaking the electric window after mooning at someone as we turbo wooshed past. Annoyingly it had a CD player which would jump every time we went over a bump. I also recall getting stopped by the old bill at 'The Ring of Steel' in the city after a night out and the cop wanted to see in the boot and thought the jack was a gun as it was in it's black pouch!. Made me chuckle when Jonny noted the missing part of the front bumper, as the last time I drove my one down a country lane, I hit a pot hole and ripped off the nearside bumper, just like this car! I could ill afford to run it and quickly realized that I would probably end up either losing my license, or wrapping it around a tree. A mate fell in love with it and bought it, unfortunately he lost control of it and it was a right off. Luckily no one was hurt, but sadly the car met its end.

What a BRILLIANT episode! I remember my mates one in exactly the same colour but with TSW Wheels back in the day, such a classic hot hatch!

Another fabulous episode. I'm sure I wasn't the only one shouting at the screen when the R5 Turbo was teasing us by delaying the inevitable burst into life!!!!! Brilliant

Brilliant video this, loved the Renault 5 turbo but what also really appealed to me was the classic Honda 550 four! It’s sacrilege to see it just sitting in that barn!! I had the 400 four way back when & am sorry I sold it!! Cracking find that car though, good luck to the new lucky owner 👌

I Had an H reg one of these. Had to sell it when my first child. An awesome little car. Back in the early 90's no garage wanted them on their forecourt as it would have Been stolen in no time. Renault did a mod on the turbo as some caught fire. so many people would say to me "you've left your car running but it was just a fan cooling the turbo.

As an American, living in the best country on earth.........I know, just kidding. I'm American, but I've had so much enjoyment out of the European vehicles I've owned, and had the pleasure of driving, I truly miss the 'old days'. We had 2 Sprites, a TR6, our dad had a 3000 after he had sold his '58 Corvette, maybe a '59, can't remember. The Land Rover was an off road beast, my feet were too big for a 911, but what a fun car to drive around the beach area. Europeans know how to make something fun. Don't get me started on the Maico 490......

Loved that. I drove one once my mate had a garage and needed to deliver a car to a customer. The choice was a Porsche 944 or a Renault 5 GT Turbo needless to say took the later. No other car since has put such a smile of elation on my face since. A true classic. I would love to see an update in the near future on this amazing barn find

What a brilliant video and brought back a great memory for me. Back in the 90's when I was at uni my housemate/landlord had one of these in absolutely mint condition and so much fun!

friend had a Gordini Turbo BITD. as a much smaller kid, I remember fondly being flung around in the back of it as he drove it with enthusiasm 🙂
