LCN…I’ve been a viewer for a few years now and I’ve enjoyed all your content. I’ve noticed in the last year you have experimented with a new style and type of videos as you try to be creative and come up with new content. However, I’d just like the say that the normal, everyday, necessary tasks that you undertake in your yard and project lawns each year are more than enough to keep me coming back to view your content. Looking forward to what the 2023 season has to offer! God bless brother!

@@j3d3d1ah Excellent question! The label will always tell you the proper PPE for the application. In this case, the PPE is long pants, long sleeves, eye protection (sunglasses are ok) and socks + Shoes. I have specific shoes that I wear when I spray weeds and other chems. I love this channel. I have St. Augustine in FL and had always fertilized 2x a year and spot treated weeds and my lawn always was in pretty good shape. This year I had a bad dollar weed and chinch bug infestation simultaneously, then a bunch of spittle bugs and moths in the yard and it's been an uphill battle all summer. I have now become OBSESSED with my lawn and get I some great pointers on this channel. Even once I reclaim my lawn I can tell this obsession will remain. Also do you have any videos that address topdressing the lawn with compost? I'm trying to aid new growth by putting down some more substance for new roots to establish in.

Bring on summer. I'm about to purchase my fert and N-ext for the spring, summer, and fall. I found Allen back in 2018. The year before, it was our first summer in our house (first homeowners). I had no clue what I was doing with weed control, water, fertilizer, etc. So I hired True Green for the first summer we were there. My lawn was garbage. So I fired them and in January of 2018 I started looking into doing it myself and I found Allen. So glad I did. My lawn was lush and green that summer in 95-degree heat (my grass is KGB). I remember a day I came back from a fishing trip and nothing made me prouder to turn on the street I live on and seeing this green, thick lawn that was suffering and dying the previous summer, going to the backyard, and cracking open a beer and taking in the how good my backyard looked. I never turned back. Stick to a schedule. Lawn care doesn't have to take up your life. Feed it, water, it, and mow it at least once a week and it'll do the rest. Thanks for the work you put in to educate us, Allen.

prefer atrazine for SFL lawns / saint Augustine. I tend to do a heavier concentration when I spray.. keep the lawn thick and high to crown them out. Also use milorganite and use the Scotts with atrazine intermittently as well. Not really watering too much, try to stay away from the fungus lol specially when it rains here so much.. but all knowledge my brother came from you. some of these herbicides are priceyyyyyy

When I am spraying my lawn, I like to use blue marker dye to show me where I have sprayed and on my front yard, it also serves as a warning to kids who sometimes like to play there to avoid the sprayed area. Parents and pet owners who are not familiar with lawn care practices do not want their kids/pets to track in blue dyes into their homes so it also act as a notice for parents/pet owners to keep their kids/pets away from the sprayed area too. :) BTW have you guys noticed how powerful that sprayer Allen is using is? The spray pattern looks fantastic, puts my Sprayer Plus battery powered sprayer to shame. Hey Allen any plans to make a 2 gallon version of that sprayer?

Hi Allyn, don’t think Buffalograss is Australian. What we call “buffalo grass” is St Augustine, typically a variety called Sir Walter. I think Buffalograss is a North American native grass. The Turf Mechanic had some videos about it from memory.

It gets confusing with common names. Buffalograss (Bouteloua dactyloides) is native to North America, stretching from New Mexico up into Southern Canada. In Australia and other regions they frequently call their st Aug buffalograss but when you inspect the scientific or species name it's different. The Sir Walter grass found in Australia that they call buffalograss is Stenotaphrum secundatum which is the same scientific name for St Augustine grass. Unfortunately common names in Australia and a few other parts of the wold make true buffalograss confusing to talk about...especially because the two different grass types are so very different in appearance and growth.

Have you tried the reciprocating trimmer instead of your string weed eater? The rotary knife edges don't sling grass everywhere and produce a crew cut knife edge 90 degree edge on the driveway and street. I used to have a lawn service and that guy would fire grass all over the house with his weed eater. He used it at a 30 degree angle so he just chewed up the edges of my lawn; moved my garden edge every time he mowed; and ruined my garden edges. I fired him for treating my lawn like a baby factory. These guys have too many lawns... they show up; chew up your lawn; use zero radius riding mowers right after the rain trenching the lawn; and don't clean up their work. I finally decided to do it myself and one of the first things I did was replace my weed eater with a Stihl RG-KM reciprocating trimmer attachment. One of the most satisfying things I've ever done (other than driving an air cooled Porsche 911.. LOL) is trimming with my reciprocating trimmer. They don't chew up fence posts and siding either.

Another thing worth mentioning is that $155 gallon might only have a shelf life of 3 yrs. If you got a 5000 square foot lawn or smaller you'll be throwing it away which is really bad for our environment.
