As a fellow diy'er I must say it's not good to keep the blade razor sharp. It will dull down much faster. Though it does cut much better. I keep 3 blades for this reason. 1 on the mower and 2 back up blades. I keep them sharp and swap them when needed and sharpen them afterwards when I have the time. Of course your grass looks very light compared to mine so you probably don't go through blades like I do.

At the risk of sounding ignorant, I don't understand the concern. It's not like the blade is exposed or anywhere close to his feet. I've often pondered this myself as I'm walking behind my mower, and it seems like the only way you'd come anywhere near the blade would be if you deliberately stuck your foot under the mower... after tilting it up.

I hope your joking... that's how you set the height you want your lawn cut. Usually if you have an really overgrown lawn you go high first not to jam the machine up with tall grass. I don't like cutting a lawn as low as he did. I noticed if you cut a lawn too low and you don't water it, it will burn easily. If you leave it a few notches up I notice I don't get a brown lawn as quick. I'm guessing since it's a little bit higher it retains water and shades the soil better.

I wish I would have seen this video last week. We've been having a lot of rain in Houston. My Bermuda got well over 4 inches. I figured bagging would be best but my POS EGO power couldn't handle it. Kept bogging down. The side discharge is useless on an EGO even if it's just a little damp. I ended up taking it as low as my mower could go and now it's brown. 😭😭
@CrazyLinguiniLegs
@CrazyLinguiniLegs Жыл бұрын
I never bag or use side discharge with my EGO, I just mulch. When it gets overgrown, I do like he says in the video: mow at the highest setting (I think it’s 4”), then mow shorter (3” for my kbg/rye mix) again couple days later. My grass is sometimes over 7” and the EGO may have trouble getting going in it, but if I start it up in shorter growth or on pavement then it’s all good. Just have to slow down a little in really thick areas.
