You don't really neeeed Koga in a Masked Deck. If I run him, I run 1 copy and only Form Change into him. Maybe if you run the Neos and full D-Hero version, but not for the Faris > Increase > Vyon > Malicious version . Favorite Hero is a cool tech for MH but not really needed. Even so 1 Structure Deck and you're good. It's still a fun rogue deck.

19:00 A bit surprised here that you didn't mentioned the controversy this structure deck ex caused as it was a deck that is unavailable via gems, making it only available to people willing to cough up money making the first solid entirely pay to win deck that very meta relevant. And that caused quite a bit of heated controversy back in the day because of the structure deck being locked behind pay wall (and seemed to be the reason why later ex structure decks were atleast available for one copy via gems albeit a much higher amount)

There wasn't really controversy. F2P players just took their usual "holier than thou" attitude about not spending money to support the game, the same way they do for every remotely expensive archetype or card ever.

Also what a dumb notion to have about it by blaming f2p players. Decks being available via gems works in everybody's favour as even those who spend money in the game would save some money (miniscule at first but would definitely stack up over time). Also clearly there was a big enough controversy that moving forward from that point on every ex structure deck was atleast partially available via gems. If it was just a small group of people complaining then no way in hell would Konami make that kind of change. There is a difference between supporting the game and sucking the players dry. Keep that in mind before spouting such nonsense. Please make some actual points and not sound like a dumb whale my friend 😶

The crowd that actually puts money into this game is the reason it's still even supported by Konami 4 years later, and there is rarely a P2W deck dominated meta. And sucking the players dry? Most people are still getting KOG with meta decks that they built 6+ months ago, without spending a cent.

Also that skill at least required almost all your LP gone in order to activate that gets outclassed by a skill like the original Sealed Tombs, which you used to just be able to activate whenever you wanted.

Man, Fur Hire was so ridiculously strong. I was participating in a team tournament in Gunsblazing's Discord server at the time Fur Hire just came out. All team members had to lose the round to be eliminated from the tourney. My team members didn't have the strongest decks in the meta so I ended up carrying us to the finale where I lost out to Aliens. Still crazy what the deck could do.

I lived the Sylvan's Era, it was literally the HELL, even Amazoness are hunted by those extremely strong plants. The sylvans were staples themselves, They only had treacherous trap hole, there was not many ways to prevent them, I always hated them. XD

I personally think you undersold Amazon’s in this video. For most of the “tier 0” format, Amazon’s were the second most played deck pretty much all the time, after sultans were hit. Yet you only ever mentioned them in passing. For me, they were the most annoying deck in that meta. I’d deal with soellbooks and furs over them any day

Fur hire was my most f2p deck that i love it, literally cost me like 2k-3k gems fully building it, i got Beat very early on every restart and the rest too, literally i see the cards from their box, and i have x3 and like 0-1 of the rest of SR/UR.

I was a F2P player building a Fur Hire deck back then and I wish I could have been that lucky. I had a fully-functioning deck but out of all of the gems I spent on them, I only had one Beat. I had a playset of all the other cards except for them. Even still, the deck was ridiculously strong and would have easily gotten me to KoG if I didn't quit playing.

I think it was. The biggest thing was the Weevil parasite burn version that went on way too long, and the swordswoman was hated just by herself. And then there was all the Odion. I never used either of those, but I can confirm that people still did not take well to Amazoness. A lot of times, people would even surrender as soon as I summoned the princess. And one time, I even saw someone with the player name "Fuvck Amazon" or something like that.

Yes, I do. Markus something, I think. He helped bring my PTSD nightmare of that era to Duel Links when Last Gamble Koaki really took off. I remembered I even had to remake my deck and buy 2 extra floodgates just to deal with that.

it's so weird to see how duel links has evolved over the years. for context, I first got it literally the day the 5ds era came out while I was in college without really knowing anything about playing yugioh properly outside of having dvds of the duelist kingdom arc of the anime and my copy of yugioh world championship 2008 on the ds when I was a kid. I remember being so confused since as soon as I opened it and spent like an hour just on downloading updates and then going through the tutorial to refamiliarize myself with the game, I was greeted to this cutscene of yubel (since the event was going atm) who I had never seen before in my life since I had seen about 5 minutes of the gx anime dub if that as a kid and then I get given gems for the new box at the time stardust acceleration so I open it up and since i got a tuner monster I was taken back to the tutorial to learn about synchro monsters which again I had never seen before in my life. I remember trying to play this really weird dragon monster synchro thing with blue eyes since I randomly got a copy of azure eyes and a couple eyes of blue monsters and the moment I tried taking this clusterfuck of a deck into ranked i got instantly stomped by fur hire. fun times

i know yubel was never "meta" as such but it was still prominent in the ladder. Fire Kings made it easy to summon her and Terror Incarnate directly benefitted Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys, because Terror/Nightmare could summon from gy you only needed one of each and "My name is Yubel" could trade one of them for yubel from deck letting yaksha or island pop her from hand and bring out terror incarnate. it was a control strat using terror incarnate + phoenix to wipe the board every turn until your opponent ran out of resources meanwhile you could poke with neph or summon yaksha for a total of 4200 and otk. It became better with the other Nephthys stuff but it was still around at the time, i played it.

Early GX era was when I left the game. But, it’s because of Duel Links why I love Red-Eyes so much. Maybe you could do a “History of Red-eyes” video and explain when every card was dropped, where to get them, and how red-eyes impacted the game. Even though you’d probably have little to no content once you pass the early GX era due to how Red-Eyes dropped off the face of the earth once the zombie deck died off.

controversial or no, I think Silent Magician Spellbooks was my favorite deck to play in this entire game's history. it was the only deck that scratched the EXACT control itch I'd been feeling since joining the game around when Bakura was added and still hasn't been matched or replaced in that regard since. I think adding fur hire was a dumb idea as fur hire is just too good for duel links, at least at the time. The main thing holding them back right now is losing to like every handtrap under the sun. Take those away and The deck can go off

For the time period, yeah, Fur Hire was a bit strong, but they have major inherent flaws that started to show as more archetypes were released. Going first with them is terrible, since the only real play is to get a Dyna/Wiz out and pray it actually does something. And floodgates absolutely destroy them. Flip their Beat (or any other Fur Hire, really) face-down when he's normal summoned and they might as well surrender. If they had Rafale in Duel Links, they might be able to do something, but as it stands right now there's too much holding them back.

@@katzuma7641 yeah, they're way too reliant on their one and only normal summon to do anything. It is a bit unfortunate. I love the Fur Hire archetype. I could only imagine how bad it would be in the TCG with your Beat getting Ash Blossom'd and things like Nibiru, Kaijus, Sphere Mode, it's no wonder they're nowhere near competitive.
