Wonderful flight report.I have flown with Turkish twice.The first was an A330 from Singapore to Istanbul and the second was a 737 from Istanbul to Athens.They were both great flights with very polite crew and great service.See you on the next.Greetings from Athens

Great video sir! Turkish began flying to my hometown of Detroit (DTW) in late 2023, they're one of the newer additions to the airport. They will occasionally send a 777-300ER (though the route is usually operated by a 787-9), so it's nice to see what their product is like, if I ever have the chance to fly with them, hopefully soon!

Lovely trip report...as usual...its a treat for avgeeks....thanks again....also brother...i just returned to Dubai...the Etihad apartment was a lovely experience. The soft service was amazing and the Airframe is great. the whole experience from the lounge, to the direct boarding from the Lounge and the time till landing...was just another level . Never before have i experienced such a First class journey before.....even the check in at AUH was smooth and silky .......thought of updating you.....cheers bro....may u keep soaring high ....Best wishes...

1:18 Both of them operate Boeing 777-300ER on this route, which is interesting. For some reason, having Air India joining the Mumbai/Delhi - Istanbul train would increase competition for nonstop flights between India and Istanbul, which means lower fares and more choices. TK could also benefit from Air India flying to Istanbul through Star Alliance partnership as AI passengers can use TK lounges at IST. If Air India were to hypothetically launch flights to Istanbul, they would be more likely to deploy the Boeing 787-8 on that route. If Air India were to deploy the Boeing 777-300ER on flights to Istanbul like Turkish Airlines and IndiGo, the Indian flag carrier would have a competitive advantage over TK and 6E as AI would be the only airline to offer First Class on Nonstop flights to IST as well as having more lie flat seats in Business Class than Turkish Airlines and IndiGo (AI 77W has 35 Business Class seats on their own 777-300ER and 40 on ex EY 77W, TK has 28 on their 777, which previously flew for Kenya Airways and is the one you flew on, that frequently flies to BOM, and 6E has 7, sold as XL). Given Air India’s growth plans since the TATA takeover, Istanbul might not seem like a bad option for Air India, but we’ll see. Anyway, there are 3 Boeing 777s that fly between Mumbai and Istanbul: Turkish Airlines, IndiGo, and Turkish Cargo!

It makes a little difference, although with the empty seat next to me I barely noticed. My job takes me often to BOM, that’s why.. Plus, I’m not sure if TK fly to BLR.

Loved this trip report! Although 6E normally charges exorbitant fares on this exact route, what you get is definitely not what you pay for. IndiGo is known for cancellations and delays on the BOM-IST route. Even more so, sometimes the shorter 6E routes to/from the Middle East to India feel like forever. There was a brief period where IndiGo operates A320's to IST from BOM and DEL with a "technical stop" in Doha for refuelling, this wasn't conveyed to passengers, most people only knew when they started descending into Doha. I would avoid this route and airline at all costs.

Thanks for the video, Alex. Entebbe also requires the fire truck to be on standby while refuelling passenger category/cargo aircraft. Of course, it is good money. The irony is that in this industry, every entity makes money, save for the airline (with a few exceptions). The slums are despicable and poor rubbish disposal attracts birds, which increases the probability of bird strikes! I have watched videos of 747s rotating at 174 kts.

The firetruck anecdote is exactly a way to extort money from airlines under the safety umbrella. Most other airports the fire station just will be notified who is refueling, that’s it.. In Sarajevo there were also trucks full of bored fire fighters standing by.. Silly. And yes, the B747 also has high take off speeds, specially at flaps 10!

That Child's crying in background must be terrible. Rumors are floating around that Indigo is going to make deal with Norse Atlantic for its 787-9 and will fly to Manchester, London, Paris etc. Indigo does not have any widebody of its own and desperately wants it. Turkish Airlines 777 were to be handed over because of govt regulations and they had planned to use their own 321 to Istanbul with intermediate stop however they got last minute respite.

Hot take: Turkish deserves to be a part of ME4. Qatar also offers the same level of service depending on which destination and what equipment you are flying. Including the time wasting bus transfers at Doha.

TK considers themselves European, and are “Europe’s Best”. And yes, while I sort of agree with you, I still think QR is above. The staff are much more service oriented and the majority of planes are good, while at TK there’s 100’s of narrowbodies and no consistency amongst classes!
