Bridget, you’re super cute either way, but I vote to keep your bangs. Also, kudos to you for having an observation on Valentine’s Day! Omg! You know that’s a day when the kids are super excited, and you kept them engaged! That’s gotta give you extra credit! Love watching your videos!😊

I was diagnosed with Celiac disease last year and you become really adept at reading labels. It really is hard at first but it becomes second nature. I find it also helps keep you away from the candy haha

I have Hashimoto's as well. My TSH was 77. My antibodies were in the thousands. That's how they knew. I am on meds for life for it and have developed Lupus now. I still teach but not a whole class (gifted ed.) but I am much older than you. :-) Diet matters a lot and keeping a positive attitude, which you have! I have a very supportive husband as well and that is key to being able to do all that I do. It's ok to rest, too. Remember to take care and be kind to yourself. Hugs!

OMG I just replaced my teacher school bag because my zipper broke and I bought a Diaper Bag! I agree with you! It is so roomie and has so many compartments. Other teachers at my school have asked me where I got my bag and I'm always like .... LOL Babies R us.

I know you were not happy with your observation lesson but if it's any consolation it does help others to know that children will always do unexpected things and that teachers are only human - the expectations that we place on ourselves are too great. You are doing a really great job and have such great lesson ideas. And, in answer to your questions, I dress normal for Parent Consultations with perhaps some earrings, which I don't normally wear. Also, I think you should grow out the bangs - both looks suit you but longer looks really good IMO.

Reception Talker I completely agree. We are human and the reality is that I can not control my kiddos nor do I want to control them. I want to help them make choices that they are proud of and that’s what counts.

Hi Bridget! I'm in my first cluster for the education program at my school, and the top thing i'm most afraid of is classroom management. How do you do it to get a WHOLE group of students do listen to you? I'm a bit shy to tell the students what to do, because I don't want to hurt their feelings lol...

I have Celiac and it's so hard whenever people bring candies. I would put an app on your phone and scan barcodes. My 2 favorite cookbooks are Elena's Pantry and Healthy GF Life by Tammy Creditcott. Good luck to you. Fortunately, there are a lot more options now.

I once confused dividend and divisor when the principal walked in, didn't realize it lol. Had the kids solve it and everything; their faces gave it away. The trust me so much when it comes to division lol. That's what teaching is though, dealing with behaviors and having to do a quick "oops my bad yall on problem ____". I have a class of 28 students, I have two that are just in their own little world and a few that just whisper constantly. I also have an E.D. student that really struggles to function in such a large group. Sometimes I think it's silent as I am speaking and it's not... My observations/drop-ins, I have not been the best this year. I'm a second year with pretty tough group of kids, some are great but now that they are hitting puberty and things are changing. What do you notice about your fifth graders this last half of the year? I take St.Johns Wort when I'm going through a hardship. It's especially when something personal or even work related is going on and I don't want to take it out on my students. Sometimes on the days when my students are off the walls, I take some. Just makes me less emotional. I find myself taking it more during third quarter lol.

Hi! Greetings from Brazil :) Ive been a subscriber for a while now and this is my first comment. I just had to spare some time and say that watching your videos is really helping me. I recently started on a new school pretty similar to yours, so I'll have a lot to do. Tomorrow is the first day of class and I'm really nervous about it tho I have been teaching for 7 years now, all of my experience is in Language Courses rather than an actual middle school! Everything is different and there's a lot of work. I've also never taught kids before. I have three groups and they are aged 8-9...as silly as it sounds, I'm terrified of them lol..teaching English to adults is easy breezy because they chose to be in that position, they are more willing to take in info, so they try. But with kids we need to engage them and I just feel I don't have what it takes 😭😭😭 dunnom sorry for venting. Seeing you really helps because I think you're an amazing teacher and you too go through struggles but you always overcome them so it makes me feel like I can do this! Thank you! I hope you're having a great day ❤️
@BridgingLiteracy6 жыл бұрын
+Valeria Serpa you CAN do this! Smile every day and show them that you care. If you take the time to get to know them they will do anything for you. Now, remember that they are kids and they will make mistakes. Remind them that we all do and it’s how we change and fix those mistakes that really matters. I wish you all the best!
