I love the idea of multiple screens for so many reasons.

So sorry for your loss. It's always hard, no matter what the external circumstances and this year it must be particularly difficult. Our desk situation in my school is pretty desperate. After years of everyone getting into flexible seating (i.e. going out and buying furniture for their classrooms out of their own money) now we are told that we can't have any personal items at all. Lots of us just don't have actual desks any more, so where kids will keep their things is another mystery.

Good luck starting back next week. My line this year is be like Gumby! Be flexible! Changes are inevitable and it makes it easier if you are expecting them. Your room looks great. Functional and inviting!

Hi Bridget, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It is a very hard time. I have to go in tomorrow to pack up. We were told to take our personal furniture and items home because they will not be permitted. We are in Long Island, NY. I have tons of personal things like filing cabinets, bookshelves, etc. I have no idea where I will store things in my classroom. I also don't know what to do about books. I have a huge independent library and the children are not allowed to shop for books. We also have to let the books sit before letting others touch them. I am hearing varying things about that time frame though. I will be teaching a hybrid model so it is extra work. Very stressful and draining. I am trying to put my positive pants on as Michelle says...

Hey Bridget! I stumbled upon your channel years ago, back in the kinder days. I fell off your videos for a while because you and I were teaching different grade levels. But now, I back to the upper grade levels and very excited to watch your content again. Thank you so much for taking the time to put these videos up :)

Oh and no learning centers. We don't have computers either so I will have to do paper packets which breaks my heart. They can't share anything or go to the same bins to grab papers. I have to rethink everything and try to make it meaningful.

I am surprised that you were allowed so many students onsite. In NYC max 15 students for older students and 9 for little ones

Hi Mrs Bridget, I hope that all is going well for you during the first few weeks back teaching. Did you discover a trick to wearing a face mask yet from your last video? I can't wait to see your next video.

Malik Sutton I haven’t yet! I did get some great suggestions and we are ordering a few different items to see if it helps.

I'm sorry. I also lost a family member recently and it's made all the worse at this time. Make sure you hunker down at kid height in desks and check sightlines - I've found even something low tends to massively block views. I'm trying to figure out how to set up a projector without totally blocking the views for some of the kids. Oh, for a ceiling mounted projector. Sigh.
@BridgingLiteracy4 жыл бұрын
Ceiling mounted projectors are really nice! I think this will work but I can always make adjustments as needed.
@mugglemom91354 жыл бұрын
If you have a dropped ceiling, you may be able to hack a ceiling mount, running the cords above the ceiling tiles. If you end up needing to cut into a ceiling tile for cords to run or for hardware to hang the projector, you can buy replacement tiles at the hardware store for super cheap. Store the school's tile and just cut what you need to out of the extra one you purchased. It actually works pretty well - but obviously only if you have a dropped ceiling. 😉

Sorry to hear about your Grandmother 😪. The classroom looks great cant wait to hear more about whole group teaching. Did you do a printable planner this year or just digital? 🤔
@BridgingLiteracy4 жыл бұрын
Funny you ask because I’m sticking to planning digitally, but I’d wait until Thursday. Michelle and I have a BIG announcement, and I do have a paper teacher planner but I’m using that for my students. I want them to come in and get use to locating the assignments for the day in Schoology. They will write it down in their agendas every morning. Hopefully, if we go remote, this will prepare them for knowing what to do for the day.

@@BridgingLiteracy will you be selling a printable teacher planner this year? I've bought yours in the past and really liked them.

Are you allowed to still do flexible seating or is that considered “unsanitary”? I would’ve just let the kids sit on cushions for the small desks.
@BridgingLiteracy4 жыл бұрын
No cushions or flexible. Individual desks are mandatory this year.
