Buffy telling a stunned the First Evil to get out of her face and then getting up with that score in the background and send Ubervamps flying - still epic. 31:40 i think this is a brilliant moment. andrew makes up a story to give Anya a hero's death when in fact she died instantly and with no fanfare. sometimes being a storyteller is a good thing.
@HelloXrancidkitteh
@HelloXrancidkitteh Жыл бұрын
he didn't make it up though.... she legit went to start hitting the uber vamps that were attacking Andrew, that she didn't see the uber vamp coming up from behind her with Andrew's sword that he had dropped. she probably didn't mean to sacrifice her life, but she did purposely save him. although she joked about not caring about Andrew, they had bonded in a sort of big sis, little bro kinda way towards the last half of the season.
@Andrewsmiith
@Andrewsmiith Жыл бұрын
@@HelloXrancidkittehI don’t think the scene plays out like that at all. Andrew is in his own pit of peril, Anya in hers (though she holds up extremely well) There’s no indication that she is fighting to rescue him at all, she’s too distracted by the chaos going on around her. Andrew wouldn’t have seen her die, given that he was being swamped by bringers at the time. His initial responses of “I didn’t see, I was scared” is the truth, then you see the idea of a grander, more consoling story blossom in his mind.

HATED that Anya and Spike died. I cry every time, especially when I'm rewatching with a first time reactor. I was bawling my eyes out with you. had a lot of fun witnessing you experiencing the Buffyverse for the first time. now, the best thing to do ( besides reading the comics ) is REWATCHING. you get to see all of the kool little details you've missed and all the moments of clever foreshadowing ( especially the 'Restless' episode in season 4, but as well through the entire series ). then watching other reactors and enjoying it again through fresh eyes. no matter how many times you watch Buffy, there's always a small detail you've never noticed before. its definitely a rewatchable series. never gets old.

Anya’s death was for-told. When Anya took back her last act of vengeance and Dehofren killed Hali, he said to Anya “your time will come, from beneath you it devours” Same when Cassie told Spike “before the end she will tell you” or something along those lines. There is so many examples of this all the way the series. Joss and his team are incredible.

I rewatched Buffy more times than I can count, and I cry every time... yes... only for the ending, just for that! Truly! Anya fought bravely, but she didn't actually sacrificed herself for Andrew. Andrew lied to Xander to make him feel better, and make Anya take the glory: it is the exact opposite of what he has always been doing (telling stories to make himself look better). That scene marks the completion of his growth.

At the end, Spike was who gave Buffy her fire back. "I touch the fire, and it freezes me." When they were holding each other's hand as everything was collapsing, their hands were in flames. He ignited that spark in her that had been missing since she came back from the beyond. She was feeling everything at that moment. To top it off, her last four words on the show were "I love you.... Spike. " The "I love you" was in hellmouth, and the "Spike" was when Giles asked who did this ❤ -Lol, this was the 3rd time that Spike has nocked over the "Welcome to Sunnydale" sign, lol. (Schools Hard, Lovers Walk, and then series finale). Then this was also the 3rd time that Buffy had a hand in destroying a school, haha. It's funny, even though Anya's death is devastating, and Spike's sacrifice is touching, this episode never pushes me towards tears. It's too triumphant for that. I've really enjoyed watching your reactions to this show. It's one of my absolute favorite pieces of fiction ever in any medium. I always loved the fact that, technically, even in death Spike knocked over the Welcome to Sunnydale sign. Great show, great ending. Just wish Anya and Xander had ended up together, but it had just the right amount of sacrifice to make it feel like a battle. Lost? I personally think it's a great choice. I've only ever watched Buffy and Angel all the way through about 3 times from start to finish, these days I just watch it via reaction videos. I have been thinking about re-watching Lost again since it's been so long since it first aired, but doing so through reactions is a great compromise for me.

This fire at the end is the perfect symbol of B/S relationship. Fire warms you up when you need it, it's energy, passion, it helped keep life at the dawn of time, but it can burn you if you're not careful with it. And it's 100% accurate. And by the way it was real fire. Their hands were all gelled up, they added some more flame later but still. And I think that's really cool. I remember James had it before in early seasons and now Sarah did it with him in the final.❤‍🔥 It was mentioned before but I just want to give this comment because it clarifies the meaning of the scene. Since people sometimes argue. Whedon told Sarah: 'Show the romance. Be proud of him. Love him when you say you love him.' To James: 'Love her when you say she doesn't love you. Forget about the crumbling world. For that period of time it doesn't exist.' And later it was also confirmed that Buffy felt it. And she has every reason for that. So it's a love story for them eventually. Which went through everything. From mortal enemies and that's not an exaggeration to lovers. And for me this whole story was the most exciting thing that I saw in this series. And Spike. My true warrior. Saved everything at the very end. Gave everything that he had. You are a bright star. That will shine forever. 🌟 Thank you, Lexi, for watching it with us. 💕

@@gungho1284 honestly, I don't give a damn about W&H story. That's other tv show and mostly other storyline. This particilar storyline ended here. In angel I watched s5 only because Spike was there and Illyria. Rest is mediocre and boring for me. But even if we mention saving the world, we all saw that it happened couple of times, not just once.

Well done Lexi for completing the whole series a really good piece of work, and also doing Angel at the same time, you deserve great credit for your efforts. This incredible show deserves the admiration it still receives and you did it proud. Chosen was a marvelous finale which was hard to achieve after the brilliant The Gift which, which I believe was the greatest of all episodes. Angel has of course returned with the mysterious amulet he got from Lilah in the Angel show, and gives it to Buffy saying 'it is to be worn by a Champion'. Spike proving to be possibly the most important character in the show due to the prophecy of the Vampire with a soul who would play a major role in the final battle, it was him who would finally destroy the Hellmouth and save them all. His character arc was incredible, giving his life and very soul to save them all. When Buffy says she loves him at the end I believe she does mean it, all Spike/William ever wanted was to be loved, that's why when Cassie told him before she died in series 7 ' one day she will tell you' it was so important for Spike to actually hear those words from the girl he truly loved making his existence complete so he could die at peace. Once again well done on completing the show and your hours of work are much appreciated. Look forward to more Angel reactions, a show which in many episodes actually surpassed Buffy The Vampire Slayer. You really did ''slay it'. There is only one thing to do now Lexi, hit that rewind button and go back to E1 S1 Welcome To The Hellmouth, and watch Darla set the ball rolling on this amazing show, you will love it even more, and of course it is not over as you have the brilliant Angel S5 to complete, the greatest of any Season in The Buffyverse IMHO. Don't be sad, be proud!

There’s something about her facing herself in the end that’s so profound. Looking at her demon in the eyes and saying “you don’t control me anymore.” 👌 No, cause, you see. It’s in the way that The First wearing her face taunts her like she’s a child and expects her to just lay there and cry in her defeat. And then Buffy defying that expectation of herself is like her way of saying “Look who’s finally grown up”. Like she’s had a revelation in what would be her final moments. That of her growth from child to adult.

I always took "I want you to get out of my face," as in literally telling The First that she's not dead and that she wasn't going to die this time. Because The First can only take a corporeal form of a person that's dead. This was her FULLY embracing the fact that yes, she had died twice and felt very detached for a long time from the living when she came back, but I'm here very much alive and that she feels strong and alive and no longer has that feeling like she did before.

Thank you so much for all the time and effort and care you put in all this, and although you don’t get to enjoy it for the first time anymore, it’s probably one of the most rewatchable show ever, you fall in love with them all over again and you will even find tons of crazy foreshadowing that you may have missed (which is hard cause you were ON POINT with that, probably the most I’ve seen in all reactors so far). But it’s still a grieving process isn’t it..😢❤

I just want to say that despite the bizarreness and silliness of it, I completely get Buffy’s cookie dough analogy. The sentiment really hits for me given the personal philosophy I believe in and follow. The famous author who wrote the book series “Conversations With God” Neale Donald Walsch once said: “Life is movement. Movement is change. Every time a sub-molecular particle swings through time and space, something is changing. Change, therefore, is inevitable. It is the nature of life itself. The trick in life is not to try to avoid change, but to create change. Then it is the kind of change you choose.” Honestly all I care about is nature, evolution and choice. All other ideals, values, themes, lessons are inconsequential to me. If they’re ever needed, they’re needed only to refine the former, but in my experience, they just complicate and convolute it. All I ever follow seriously and consistently as if they are a religion to me is nature, evolution and choice. Now people think nature and choice contradict. I don’t simply because the definition of nature to me is change itself. There is no permanence to nature except that is ever-changing. And so the reason why choice works with it for me rather than goes against it is because I am continuously choosing my nature by continuously creating my identity and evolution. I’m continuously choosing change over a system. There’s no set pathway for me already laid out to follow because I am creating the pathway as I go along. One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire Cat in a tree. “Which road do I take?” she asked. His response was a question: “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the cat, “it doesn’t matter.” - Lewis Carroll, ‘Alice In Wonderland”. Buffy doesn’t know where she’s going. But that she’ll go somewhere is enough. That’s something she’s looking forward to now she’s not the only one burdened with being the Slayer and can live her life and be a normal girl. Because now she is. There’s nothing abnormal about her anymore because now every other girl possesses the power that she does. She’s no longer alone in her burden, so can now think of it less as one and more as just something good about her. Something that will aid her in life.
