I love how the train timetables just say "Everything's cancelled, yo". Like whoever was in charge of updating really hated their job and decided to troll everyone and just bugged out like all of those fake stories you find on Reddit.

One of the hardest things ever is coming home at night when it's raining, turning the car off, and then actually bringing myself to leave the car. The residual warmth from the car, the sound of rain, if it wasn't so weird I'd probably just sleep right there.
@Kreank
@Kreank 2 жыл бұрын
@@SkeleTonHammer Tbh, if it's a safe area and there's enough room for you to find a comfy position, I'd just sleep in the car. It is heated, you can hear the rain dropping onto your car(metalic sound),... You can just relax there, take a deep breath, think about life n stuff(basically letting your mind loose). Or maybe even better, stop thinking overall and just listen carefully to your surroundings and relax.

the relaxing feeling that comes from trains is because there's no sense of urgency, like you said it is like a cradle, instead of rushing to some place in a car, or being stuck for hours in a giant flying tuna can with a crying baby, your just... there, flawlessly gliding across the tracks with a few other people. instead of a bunch of twists and turns and highways and intersection with hundreds of people on them, its just one straight route with the occasional bend or stop, its a rare case where the lack of decision or choice makes it better

0:51 Overture - Yet Alone fits this SO well... 2:46 Difference for Darkness started picking up here and it's so majestic. 4:48 That synced PERFECTLY! It's beautiful 5:20 Bits and Pieces - From the Ashes fits this talk and walk like a glove. 6:04 An Epiphany or a Revelation? 6:42 Shots fired. 7:04 Lighthouses are AWESOME and the sentence "I want to see the lighthouse" is a mood. 7:20 The old Industrial Park seems to appear often in these maps. 8:36 Hang on, it says it was established in 1896 then it very well could have been a Speakeasy in the Prohibition Era. 9:20 Same, that's attention to even the smallest details. 10:04 I think the bottom step is actually done like that on purpose, it's like how you'd actually walk down the stairs. 11:11 Ah, the bar's bathroom, it's just as one would expect. 11:55 This synced perfectly to the start of Light At the End - Another Rain. 12:05 That's more excellent detailing for this map. 13:34 Porches like that are amazing. 15:51 And you've jump scared yourself yet again. Damn mirrors are REALLY annoying. 16:46 Actually that looks like an interrogation room to me. 19:07 Yeah, really convenient all things considered. 20:12 This feels like a place where come mob deals were made... 21:15 I think that's once again a choice. 21:40 You're in what may be the condemned part of the city. 22:10 Neon Night - Whe23:re the Road Ends fits here super well. 23:20 I think this is supposed to be a fire tower... 24:04 Kind of like Zaun and Piltover. 24:14 Once again, kind of like Zaun and Piltover. 24:50 That's beautiful... 25:10 This feels like a symbol of hope... 25:55 Oh it invokes alright, it's amazing. 26:54 It's really a strange pattern 27:10 Eww, I don't like that sound. It's like it's in my shoes... 27:46 That's disgusting... 28:06 That makes two of us... 28:55 Hang on, what? Who built that down here and WHY? 29:30 And extremely smelly too... 30:10 That's rather eerie... 31:08 Watch out for Dianogas. 32:24 Oo~, what do we have here... 32:40 Nice place, all things considered. 33:14 That's a pretty cool club house idea, man. 33:40 No, don't jump into the Abyss! 34:05 Oh no, you've entered Rock Bottom. 35:19 Welcome to the 'Nam experience, also that may be a Storm Drain or something for runoff that you're in... 35:57 Nothing good, I'd imagine. 36:08 I was right, it IS a storm drain. 36:43 You saw your chance and took it, I can respect that. 37:40 It started off like a dream. A rather good dream, too. 39:00 Now that's a lobby. 39:40 It's certainly an interesting map. 40:04 I can too, and it honestly seems like it may be fun. 40:25 Beautiful maybe? 41:05 Same, this map has a dynamic that would be so interesting I REALLY want to see how a game on this map goes. 41:10 No thanks, I've had enough of elevators like that from Reach. 41:46 It's like looking down upon everyone. 42:25 Oh that's beautiful... 43:23 What a spot indeed. 43:45 Rogal Dorning it and fortifying the CRAP out of the penthouse seems like a fun hold out. 44:40 Man, that's a mazing 44:50 Man, the map maker is an artist. 45:15 To me their Doctor's Office chairs. 45:41 That's some Environmental Story Telling right there... 46:55 That's what I've been doing watching this video, I got the same ODST video from the Asheville video on.

This is probably my favorite RP map, although I don’t do multiplayer RP. I have a save where I “live” in one of the studio apartments at the top of the first hill. I find them cozier than the big apartments in the high rise, which feel too exposed to the storm for me. I spawned a bunch of props into “my” apartment, and even populated some of the stores on the street below. The little one closest to the station is a convenience store, and the run down one in Lowtown sells used computer equipment (and have a hacking lab in the back office). I love the feeling of coming in out of the rain to some place warm and well lit. I can’t even imagine what that must feel like in VR. I agree with you about the bars vs the night club. I sort of wish there were a coffeehouse though-even more my style than the bars. The night club is one of the better ones I have seen though, but nothing can top the clubs in Union City and Southside, with their interactive DJ booths. I don’t know if you’ve played those maps, but they are IMHO the peak of detail in GMod maps (right up there with Xanthys and Boreas). Also, I have played in this map a LOT, but never found that really dark lower shaft. I assumed that one was an instakill pit that could be used by criminals to dispose of bodies. Amazing that there is still more to discover.

1:10 This area of the map gives you the feeling of when you were a kid and you felt safe in the hands of adults. That everything was taken care of by big smart people (lol). Well, before you learn that adults aren't really that smart, and a lot of them are evil.

Insulation from danger is wherein lies comfy. I love how you articulate the ways this concept is used in this map and others. I can not overstate my love for the rain, to be in it and to be near it is all I ask for. I watch your videos at night and I have tried to watch this one a total of 5 times. Its just that each time I do I fall asleep, lulled into a relaxed slumber by the sounds of the rain and your comfortable voice. There no real way to describe it your voice just has an aspect to it, maybe it could also be the way you talk but I find your voice and your "ramblings" so soothing to listen too.

That club music is...euphoric, as someone who's "gone out a lot". There is this sort of build up when you hear the music of a club you're not too sure your going to get into . Hoping your ID is right, you're not too drunk, the bouncer doesn't look at you funny. All while that roaring and thudding of the music challenges and beckons you like the outside of a boss arena.

This is definitely my favourite map yet. The tree in an abandoned warehouse alone is breathtaking! The lights from the windows in that decrepit house, the sound of the rain changing depending on where you are, the amount of places to see, the sewer hidey holes, and the amount of detail in all of those things is just unparalleled.

Man just hearing rain splashing against the roof of a building while inside in a warm and cosy environment really is like one of the best aesthetically pleasing things ever regardless of the situation your in. And I mean that specifically for horror themed maps or sections in horror games, it kinda gives you a breather for a brief moment and almost makes you forget you are in a creepy environment or there's a threat around somewhere constantly trying to hunt you down.

I cannot tell you how relieved I am to have come across this. Watching you play RP_Ashpit and RP_Asheville filled me with an abiding existential dread and I needed some fast-acting eye and ear bleach after those experiences. RP_Asheville was not as bad although you could tell whatever went down in RP_Asheville was a 💩💥⚙ situation, but RP_Ashpit took the storyline for that idea, turned it up to 11, and roundhouse sucker-punched me in the face and gut with it, to the point that I was actually shuddering with fear along with you. Seeing that monochromatic commie block (specifically a khrushchyovka) literally took me right back to seeing the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode entitled Saakashvili Spring in a high school animation class a few years ago and the unbridled panic and sadness that shot through me that day. I believe that was right around the time Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine back in 2014. The first thing I also thought of in RP_Asheville was the city scenes in The Last of Us when Joel and Ellie are seen strolling on foot through the cities and towns along their way from back east to the Fireflies' hideout in my hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah to try to help find a cure for the cordyceps infection. RP_Downpour actually gave me an idea for a furry ASMR video where a friendly furry (most likely a colleague from work or classmate from college whom the YCH character has known since grade school) offers to walk my fursona home while holding a large umbrella over him in the severe thunderstorm even though he not only doesn't mind getting wet, but relies on it after overheating on an especially blistering midsummer afternoon while we catch up on what we have been doing with our lives since we lost contact with and found each other once again.

In regards to the stairs issue, I feel like its worth mentioning that matching the stair's geometry to be an actual stair rather than a ramp can be important to anyone who uses the map for scenes or posing, and I've noticed as well that the foot placement on AI actors can fairly accurately detect the geometry too, so rather than an NPC looking like they're standing on a flat platform at whatever altitude they're at, the engine will actually position their legs and feet to be resting on the step. I can definitely understand having the collision be ramp-shaped makes VR a lot less jarring, but in the many things GMod and Source is used for, I think VR is still a niche case and the reasons why you would want the stair geometry to match stairs are more common. I absolutely love your videos, just my take on something I've heard you bring up a few times.

That's called IK, inverse kinematics, and if you use the "player clip" texture it will exclusively affect player entities (which don't have IK anyway) and nothing else, it is also not only relevant for VR as the vibrating camera is jarring in pancake mode too, it's why TF2 had clipped stairs as standard since its release in 2007.

We need more maps like this, a lot of Gmod Maps are really creepy but Gmod can also have very comforting spaces, like in portal 2 (at least to me) the maps were really calming because of All the foliage growing around the abandoned aperture science, I don't know why I find it comforting but I'm just really relaxed every time I play the game. But as I was saying, Gmod Maps can be comfy, such as mall maps, rainy cities at night, even abandoned buildings with vines growing around them, I don't know, I just find source games oddly comforting at times. I've tried to create good Gmod Maps numerous times because of this, but I guess it's not really my thing, if anyone with mapmaking experience is willing to do this, I will definitely play the map. I am still trying to make maps though.

So you know how a creepy thing is taking something normal and familiar, and then violating it somehow? Maps like this are that, minus the violation.

Watched this last night as I was going to bed and it was raining out. Please keep doing what you're doing, words cannot describe how underrated this channel is.

I would find it amazing if one of those maps makes it so that if you activate multiplayer, the game adds no horror aspect while in singleplayer mode you get horror theme

While it's not precisely a Gmod map, Or really a game I think you'd enjoy, CONTROL By Remedy-entertainment has some incredibly peculiar architecture and design.

@The Librarian You didn't seem to catch them but theirs two custom buttons on this map one in the police station that sounds an alarm and closes a giant gate closing off the slums from the upper city, also theirs a Bank with a custom vault with a button. I always imagined this map's story as being a case of a class struggle and the rich or whatever has secluded themselves to the upper city I also think this could very easily be turned into a Half life 2 map all you'd have to do is add a citadel out in the background looming over the city, put up propaganda and further segment the city with combine walls.

i'm pretty sure "A Bar" is an homage the sitcom Cheers from the '80s, the entrance and square bar in the middle of the room look near identical. Wonder how many other references are a part of the map.

the best thing about walking on a rainy night is that even most ne'er do wells are too sensible to want to be out in the rain
